What makes chocolate...real chocolate?
The FDA is looking at a"Citizens Petition" to change what chocolate is.
Right now chocolate is cocoa and cocoa butter some manufacturers want to change that to cocoa and vegetable fat (most likely partially hydrogenated vegetable oils).

I did too, it's crazy to even ponder a change like that. I'll pay the difference, gladly!
I've never liked the cheap, watery chocolate-flavored candies and I can't imagine how hard it would be to buy a decent chocolate if they actually succeeded in passing this! I'm forwarding the link to everyone I know.
There's a reason they are doing this you know. Chocolate isn't a neccessity, it's a luxury firtsly, and secondly, the cocoa is suffering because of...what was it, fighting issues in some country. I read about it in the papers.
You're right, it's a luxury, and maybe will become too pricey for most of us. But accurate labeling is one thing we do right in this country, for the most part, and I'd like to see it continue.
There was a break down of the cost difference dontmesswithourchocolate.com, it was like $2.50 a pound.
I'll spend the extra money to not have transfat or cheap sucky chocolate.

If all chocolate became pricey then it's good for some of us at least we won't spend money on them? This is just a side opinion.
I don't agree on the transfat thing of course.
