Making the grade!
Hey Everybody!
Yesterday I ate a delicious ball park frank beef hot dog!! When I went to enter it into my food log and I saw that "F"! I didn't even look at the calories right away!! All I could do was scream and laugh out loud!! That brought my average down to a "B-"!! I wasn't too mad at myself because I had worked out for an hour that morning and had planned to go a little over my caloric intake because I was having a cook out! So tell me,
1)What foods have you eaten that was an "F" or "D-"?
2)How did your feel after you saw the grade?
3) Do pay more attention to the Grade or the calories?
Needless to say that hot dog is not a tagged item!!![]()
Yes I was good today! No ball park franks. Had a delicious grilled steak, asparagus and steamed shrimp totals grade thus far is an A-. The franks did look and smell good!! I left those for the teenagers!
Today I had BBQ ribs!! We didn't have hot dogs but we did have hamburgers and hot sausages on the grill! Yes I had a hot sausage dont know the grade and don't want to know the grade. I haven't and won't even log any calories today!! Dang, grilled steak sounds good and shrimp.![]()
Hi tnt, well I did some home work for you. If you had a turkey sausage( which I doubt you did, tee hee) the grade is a B+. The rest of the sausges ranged from C- to the all dreaded F!!
Happy 4th!!
I just started on Calorie Count and I was shocked that hot dogs were so low on the nutrition scale. We have hamburgers and hot dogs a lot in the summer. I'm going to have to cut down.
Yes tomsweeney, everything in moderation for sure!
Today had 1 Snickers mini size 44 calories D+! Darn T.O.M!! Thank God I only had one to eat!
Overall, I score an A- or a B+, but several times a week I get an F for the small pat of butter I eat. Never actually affects the day's totals, but it does look bad on the food log!

So what are you saying aj, brothers don't eat turkey sausage!
Just messing with you! Your right it was pork and very very hot! I would like to think I ate the C- sausage! I pay more attention to calories and fat.
The scores are just a generalization, and an F food every now and then isn't going to hurt you. Even some healthy foods may not get that good of a score (like nuts), because of their sugar, sodium, or fat. And some junk food doesn't score that badly! The calories is what you want to be paying attention to for weight loss, and other than that, just eat a variety and try to keep it as healthy as you can without restricting too much.
I bought a bag of skinnless, boneless chicken breast. Cooked them with water not butter and seasoning and had cup of rice without gravey - just seasonings.
The chicken breast was a D- I freaked. I looked it up and it had to much sodium. I bought a 4 pound bag - so I'm not going to throw it away. I thought I was doing good. HMMMM &nbs p; & nbsp; &nbs p;
OK... I'll stay away from BallPark franks!
The only F I've gotten so far is from salted butter. I switched to Brummel & Brown's and enjoy that.
I pay quite a bit of attention to the grade for the day.
I am very active so it's a challenge getting enough protein without getting too much fat. Resorting to FISH!!
I wish chocolate milk got a better grade! I can't go below 2%!
I pay no attention at all to the grades I get for food. Some foods that are healthy in small portions get bad grades because of fat or sodium content.
Things like real butter are fine in small amounts.
When it comes to food choices, hot dogs are a sausage and they are fatty poison to the eating plan. Add a nice white hot dog bun to it and you've really outdone yourself. Well, at least that is the way I look at them. No wonder they get an F. If I really want a Hot Dog, I'll have one on my cheat meal that week. But WHY have a hot dog (and we know what they are made of) when I can enjoy a wonderful meal at my favorite restaurant once a week?
If you are going to indulge, think about what you are eating, then think again. Figure out what it will take on top of your regular exericse and add that to your day. Make that your cheat for the week and move on to success.
How many times a week can I eat tilapia?
