Making myself go to the gym..
I really dont wanna go. Reeeeallly dont. But i didnt work out yesterday, so i have to today. 40 mins cardio and 30 mins strength. Its TTOM, and i just wanna lay in my bed and watch movies and sleep ![]()
Im almost crying while putting my gym shoes on. Its not that i mind so much going to the gym, i love the feeling i get after. But not now :(
I need to though, i havnt lost weight in 3 weeks. Guess i'll just wipe my tears, put my big girl panties on and DEAL with it.
Maybe i'll feel like i've been a good sport after. hah.
Anyone else finding exercising while TTOM difficult?
Do the strength first, then the cardio.
You know what I did to motivate myself? Its totally silly...but I bought cute gym clothes. Now I'm excited to go, lol. Plus I need to justify spending too much money on clothes for the gym.
Bring some music you like. Good luck!
I havnt gone yet, im dressed and everything.
I cant get myself to go.
Oh god, the agony.
Why havnt i left yet?
Oh i know what im doing...the gym closes at 9. Im gonna keep pushing it an hour until its 8 and say "Oh, my workout will take longer than that, guess i cant go."
Oh god, its subconcious.
WHY AM I STILL HERE??
Someome yell at me please!
I don't workout on TTOM the first two days because I always feel like crap. I'm talking hurting all over bad. If I'm up for it I'll go, but if not TTOM is my excuse to go home after work and relax. =)
Ok thats it.
I gotta gtfo.
Although this "platau" or whatever the h*ll it is, has wiped away any hint of motivation i had.
Im going. Im going. I just gotta go. Gotta go gotta go!
I feel like im driving myself into a hole in the ground, im kicking my own a** at the gym with no results. But i know skipping the workout wont help..
Im a mess. ![]()

I don't think that's silly at all. :) That would totally motivate me too!
I've totally been there. What happened? Did ya go? I hope you did! And I hope you felt sooo much better after. :D

Felt awesome after, but while i was working out, i planned to come home and eat some ice cream, but i worked out so well that i didnt want to ruin my efforts. I did what i wanted plus a bit more. :)

Awesome job! I admire your ability to not eat ice cream. I had to walk past the ice cream in the grocery store today. Sheer torture.
yep first two days of tom i don't workout either. but the 3rd day i have so much energy, that its such a good workout.
how do you feel once you are at the gym? usually the hardest part is getting to the gym for me, once im there & 10 minutes into it im fine.
Whenever its TTOM, I'm always dying to go to the gym or go for a nice long run. I find that the more active I am those days, the less crampy and more cheerful I am!
as much as i dont want to go sometimes , your one workout away from a good mood!
I definitely feel you. Sometimes I am not in the mood to workout at all.
Reasons why people start to have a hard time with exercise :
1) Working out too many days in a row. What has worked for me, is the one day on and one day off routine. There is one time during the week where I work out two days in a row because I try to get four days a week in. I have it set up Tues/Thurs/Sat/Mon. Getting three days off a week really helps with recuperation and makes me feel more enthusiastic on workout days.
2) The same routine can become monotonous. In other words people get bored. For example, I recently started getting bored with lifting weights. I wanted to challenge my body in new ways. So I decided to take a break from lifting and focus more on body-weight exercises for awhile. I found a great body-weight exercise routine online. Basically you do three reps every 10 seconds and keep doing that until it gets difficult. You keep adding 10 seconds rest when you need it and go for 15 minutes total. This is how I have it set up : Tues (Inverted Rows/HIIT Body-Weight squats), Thurs (Push-Ups/30 min SS cardio), Sat (Pull-Ups/Chin-Ups/HIIT Body-Weight Squats), and Mon (Handstand Push-Ups/30 min SS cardio).
Let me tell you. Body-weight exercises can give you a hell of a workout. If you ever want to take a break from weights, go back to the basics and start doing compound body-weight exercises. I haven't been this sore in quite some time. I am getting worse DOMS with body-weight exercises then I am with weights.

jealous!!! i went for a run a couple of months ago, made the cramps worse. i actually hate that time cuz it does interfere with exercise routine. however i know a few people that actually schedule in lighter workouts around that time. its good to get light workouts in once and awhile to give the body some rest
I had TTOM recently and odd enough, I felt like I could do more work out than normal days. I just don't like working out after a large meal. :/ Makes me feel heavy and hesitant to sweat it out at the gym!!
I feel unmotivated sometimes, but for 3 weeks now, I have been working out 6 days a week.. I always tell myself the quote from Woody Allen, "80% of success is just showing up". It really helps me a lot to get out from the bed, and put on my running shoes.
I just feel quite discouraged to be at the same weight where I started from, even though my measurements are better, still, I'd like to lose the pounds too. I'll just wait and see if there's any improvment - it's only 3 weeks and my body's looking better but the weight's still constant! :/

I'm dealing with the same thing. I put my scale away so I wouldn't be so obsessed with the number. There's just something about our culture that makes us freak out over an arbitrary number, when we should just focus on feeling good about ourselves. I haven't weighed myself in 3 weeks, but today I could fit into a tighter pair of jeans for the first time! WOOHOO. Cheers to muscle and not fat. :)
I don't know. You people who seem to feel discouraged because you are not losing weight but you are losing inches, just perplex me. Your body is 'looking' better but....?????
Sorry this is just a friendly 'slap' but wake up & be proud of yourself!!!!

Oh, I know, I know muscle weighs more than fats. I could see how my body's looking better now and I feel like I could burn more calories now when inactive. (I have a case of underactive thyroid, according to my endocrinologist..). It's just that, I feel quite paranoid about the weight not shifting. I am still the same weight as before. I must admit that I want to stop weighing myself so often (I used to do it like 10 times a day.. but now it's reduced to once before I get to bed).
Maybe I should just stop this obsessive behavior and start using my clothes to measure my improvment. And yes, I am proud of myself for sticking to a diet which is predominantly 'clean' and exercise. God, I used to eat only 500 calories a day, felt like crap and gained weight.
My ultimate goal's actually to raise my metabolic rate (tough when years of disordered eating and underactive thyroid's there!) cuz I cannot handle eating just 500 calories a day to maintain my weight! I am quite happy to say that I dare to consume up to 1,500-1,700 calories now daily, but that's only because I know I've been working out a lot. The goal is to raise it up to 2,000 calories once I reach my goal weight.
(Sorry, talked a lot, but just had to write them all down and share my situation to you guys.. I don't have anyone around me to talk about this :/)

Thank you for the 'friendly slap' ;D I am very pleased with the improvments, but wouldn't it be nice to see it being reflected on the scales too? I do learn that the muscles retain water for a while, so I'm just waiting to see if the weight's gonna shift in weeks to come. cuz if not, I wouldn't deny being a little disappointed..
Thanks, again!
