Making soup
Do you ever make home made soups from scratch? I make a different soup every week and freeze some so I always have a variety for a quick meal. Right now I have frozen:
I used the Recipe Analyzer so it's easy to add a serving to my food log.

I come from a family of soup lovers. My mother has some great soup recipes that she has handed down to me. Unfortunately we never write down the recipes it just kinda goes by taste, feel, etc. Some of the ones she is semi-famous for are:
vegetable barley
chicken and dumplings
potato leek
chicken w/ pastina
chili (awesome!!)
escarole soup
Italian Wedding Soup
Lentil Soup (my personal favorite)
Split Pea w/ ham
If anyone is interested in any of these specifically just ask and I will try to recreate the recipe for you in words!
I love soup too. Last Thursday I made hamburger soup, and Sunday I made corn chowder. I usually make soup at least once a week too. This Sunday I'm planning on making Split Pea and Ham soup. Other favorites that I make are:
- chicken soup
- chili
- chicken corn soup
- ham and bean soup
- chicken rice soup
- chicken chowder
- chicken sausage gumbo
- cream of broccoli
- Mexican soup
- noodle soup
There are plenty of other that I make too.
I would love the recipe for your chicken sausage gumbo and your chicken chowder soup and any others that you think are too good to pass up. I am trying to make soups for meals more often because I can make them and freeze them for the week. It is really hard to come home late and cook a healthy meal so if you have nutrition info for any of them that would be super too. Thanks so much
Now that the weather is getting colder, I've been making roast vegetable soups every week, mostly yam, sweet potato and onion. Could I get the recipe for Vegetable Barley, please?

I eat soup atleast 3 times a week. I am looking for soup recipes that I can make that aren't filled with meat and pasta/rice.
I make a killer Potato-Leek soup. Very low in fat and sodium since I use low-sodium chicken broth. Lots of protein and fiber too.
Also have a slightly more decadent French Onion soup that you can 'make healthy' by modifying the toppings.
Curried carrot or squash soup is always satisfying and warming in the belly too.
Let me know if anyone needs a recipe.
I make tortellini soup, chicken noodle (the old fashioned way) and I just made some lentil soup with deer sausage instead of the kielbasa. I've been wanting to try making tortilla soup as well. The only bad part is the cleanup... my huge stock pot doesn't fit in the dishwasher! Lol
