I AM 20+ MALE, NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS IDEAL WEIGHT for myself

Quote  |  Reply

Hi there, my name is Michael, i am 24yo male, I started my journey at 310lbs, I am currently 270lbs, I am 185cm/6ft'1, and I need to know what weight I SHOULD BE, for my height, I am also considered big built by my doctor and by the build test.

I beleive perfect weight for me is 200lbs, the BMI scale is way out as it does not take into account for build and bone structure.

IF anyone is a male of similar age and height, or knows anyone of similar stats i would like to have a rough idea of ACTUAL FACTUAL information to tell me what weight i should be, i want to get down to 195-200lbs in the next 6months.

PLEASE ANYONE WHO HAS ANY PROFESSIONAL OR EXPERT OR REAL LIFE KNOWLEDGE OR INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO MY QUESTION, I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU ALL

My boyfriend is 6'1" and weighs 190 I think. I don't know his build, but he's very muscular. I had a wtf moment too when the BMI chart said he's obese (he's not).

i'd say if you're built nicely..not like a stick with no muscle definition, then 185-195 is a good range!! me ex-boyfriend...a football player, running back...is 5'7 and weighed 175-180 and he was not by any means chubby...but more muscular than most people can realistically attain so i'd say...185-195 is a good range!!

Hi There,

I'm also 6'1 however I have a smaller bone structure and I am 22 years old.  I think that an ideal weight for you, with your bone structure, would be about 200-210 pounds.  I was at 252 pounds while playing football and since then I have lost a good deal of the weight and I am currently at about 205-210.  Because I have a smaller bone structure, I still want to lose some weight, but for you with the larger structure I would think that this would be ideal.

BTW - in the past four years I have ranged from 209-252 while playing football, with a majority of the time between 225-235 so I know the different weights pretty well and what it feels like and looks like to be there and also when I feel healthy.

My dad is large-boned and 5'9" and his ideal weight was about 180 when younger. So 200 for 6'1" sounds reasonable.

hi everyone, thanks for the responses, i am now sitting at 268lbs but i want to get to 220 first but ultimately between 190-200 depending on how i look n feel...

I'm 17, 6' tall and 239 lbs right now.  I'm going to try a 2 step program because I've heard it's very difficult to gain muscle and lose weight at the same time.  First I'm going to try to lose all my excess fat and get down to about 160 lbs.  I know I will lose some muscle doing this but I'm alright with that.  Then I want to gain about 15 lbs of muscle and get to about 175 lbs.  That would be my perfect weight and I'm 6' tall.
