| 1 1/2 | cups water |
| 1 1/4 | cup celery, 2 medium ribs, chopped |
| 2/3 | cup onion, 1 medium, chopped |
| 4 | oz red potato , finely diced |
| 1/3 | cup green bell pepper, finely diced |
| 1/4 | teaspoon thyme leaves |
| 7 | oz clams minced, juice reserved |
| 1 1/2 | teaspoon lemon juice |
| 1 | salt and pepper |
- in a medium non-reactive saucepan, combine tomatoes with their juice, water, celery, onion, potato, bell pepper, and thyme. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium, and simmer uncovered until vegetables are just tender, 7 to 10 minutes.
- Add clams with their liquid and lemon juice. Simmer 2 minutes. Season w/ salt and pepper and serve hot.
