I live in a small town and would love to run a 5k or something like it. I think that it will keep me motivated and give me a hobby. Problem is i dont even know where to start??????? How do you go about locating events?

I'm not a marathon runner by any strech but check your local paper fun runs and things of that nature will often times be avertised there(i live in a small town also). Another thing is try to hook up with other people that run in your area you will be more motivated if you are with other people  and usually other runners will have an idea of what event are going on.

Sorry for the double post(I hate sattelite)

Go to Active.com.  There is a box on the right hand side of the page titled "Find things to do" - you can search events of all types by Zip code.  You can narrow it down to running events if you want, or just search broadly if you are looking for more alternatives.  It's a good resource.

Go to www.runnersworld.co.uk - you'll find everything you need to know! There's a search engine to find races near you plus there's loads of other helpful information for beginnets to 'athletes'!

Add to the above you can go to a local running store and they will have that information as well.

Or just use your favorite internet search engine for "running races (or events) in _______(town), _______(state, district, county, whatever geographical area).
