I'm a new member. I live in rural MN where we raise beef cattle. I'm 57 and was diagnosed with diabetes last May. I refused the doctor's "easy answer" of going on drugs and opted for the healthier long-term solution of changing my habits and getting my weight under control.
I'm 5'2" and back then I was 215 lbs. This morning I was 146.4. Blood sugar numbers are normal. Yay me! . . . (and "Pbbbbtttt!!!!" to the doc who said I couldn't do it w/o her drugs) I plan to be down to 135 -(what I weighed when I graduated from High school) by this May. Only 12 more pounds to go!

I just had to say congratulations MinnieZ! What an amazing achievement. I too am trying to lose weight to avoid medication, but my problem is high blood pressure. Your story has really spurred me on!
