getting married in Oct, need some help staying on track! 20 lbs to lose!

Quote  |  Reply

Finally (lol) my bf and I have decided to get married. We are just going to do a civil ceremony for now, and keep it quiet. But i would like to be a bit thinner for pics, loose the softening chin which crept up the last 30 lbs. I am hoping that 20 lbs in the next 3 1/2 months is not over reaching, i will be doing strength and cardio to tone my arms so they at least dont look to jiggly. In total i have about 80 lbs to lose, but for now i am just trying for the 20 (and hey ill be a 1/4 there!).

I am 240ish, 5'7" 38DDD/E/F (i need another bra fitting  lol)

i am eating between 1400 and 1800 calories, and trying to strength train 4 days and cardio 4 days (one day off, im doubling up a few days lol) at least 30 min. I need to work up to more like 60, but im out of shape and cant yet lol.

Im looking for Oct brides and friends that have over 20 lbs to lose!

I just entered my goal into CC... my aim is 1300 calories, i think that includes exercise too... i hope so at least! lol

They adore my son, everyone does lol.

Good luck with your jogging. Im not much for running, i jus dont find it fun. If i had a bunch of friends around i would love to get a basketball game together, thats the only way i can run and enjoy myself lol. Thats why i like aerobics... semi-dance like.

I havnt done much more than walk the mall a few times the last few days, but with how my sleep has been that is better than nothing.

I didnt eat like i planned either, but i dont think i did too bad, i ate too much stirfry at my parents, but since it was mostly veggies im not too worried. And i had some chips and cheese sauce Friday... which put me way over, but i only drank diet soda and i had a small healthy dinner before meeting my friends.

Today Im making Indian food... Tandoori chicken, smothered pork, garlic shrimp, dahl, curry mushrooms, naan, and a pepper relish, and some indian tea. I will fill up on dahl and split a plate of everythig else with my DF. That way i have half a piece of chicken, a few bites of the pork, a couple shrimp, and a small amount of rice. YUM!!!!! Even tho im going to be eating small amounts of everything im still going to eat lighter the rest of today, mostly veggies and carbs, since im going to have alot of protien tonight.

For exercise today im just going to do my arm workout, it is too HOT right now for cardio.

Hows your start of the week?

Jogging was a challenge from another group. I hate to admit I have been a little slacking because of TOM last week. I am hoping tomorrow would be better than yesterday.

Other than that, my day has been great. I did some abs crunch as usual, I might do some cardio, as soon as I can get my son to sleep. He has been dragging his feet tonight.

Well, not all plan can go as well as we hope. But you are aware of the food that you were eating and had made some healthy choices. So, overall it's a good thing. I would like to believe that over time we are moving to a healthier habit and lifestyle. So even a little improvement is a good thing.

Hope you have a great day tomorrow.

have you checked this yet?

http://www.losertown.org/eats/cal_act.php

it looks like even if you are going to eat 1600 cal without working out - you will be 224 by the end of octSmile...

I don't have 20 lbs to lose (anymore since I lost it last year) but am a September bride who is happy to motivate you towards your goal. Good luck with everything!!

Hope you got your cardio in Ikahead!

Thanx for the link slonik, looks like im going to have to step up my amount of exercise to lose the extra 5 lbs! Acorrding to that chart i have a year to my goal!.... now if only they would tell my scale that lol.

Welcome nycgirl! i appreciate any and all motivation! Congrats on your 20 lbs! And your upcomming nuptuals!

I did nothing yesterday lol, i had slept less then normal and just couldnt find any energy (tho ive found it today!). I didnt eat much the whole day, just a little of the leftover indian food i had made and some rice, then went to bed. Today i have alot of cleaning to do, since im having company over on Fri. Then i think i will take my son for a walk around my apt complex (all those stairs!), and do some arm work (gotta get rid of the jiggle lol).

breakfast; l/f yogurt, peach (170)

lunch; 1c rice, 1/2c pork curry (all those leftovers! lol) (420)

snack; 1/2 milk, 1c cheerios (160)

dinner; turkey chedder burgers (from prevention cookbook), marinate coleslaw (410)

snack; 1/2 grapefruit, 1 oz cheese (170)

total: 1330... woohoo!

I almost didn't do my cardio. I was busy cleaning out closet that I missed my step class. Decided to try out one of the video. So, I did managed to get some in.

Scales are evil being. They can neither be tamed nor tamable. I wouldn't worry so much on what the scale says. As long as you are watching what you eat and get in some exercises, you will come out better and healthier in the long run. Just keep doing something everyday.

nycgirl, congrats on your upcoming wedding and your weight loss.

I already posted this somewhere else, but when you buy your wedding dress, get an A-line dress with a lace up back. Zippers are hell for brides who are struggling with weight loss/or gain. congrats!

absterry so like corset lacing? i LIKE!

ikahead im actually more interested in my measurments and not the scale (mine is off anyways lol) since weight is not as big a factor as fat percentage in health. And good for you fitting in some cardio... and house cleaning counts as exercise lol!

im siiiiick. im such a baby when im sick lol. i havnt eaten much... a bowl of chicken soup and some toast yesterday, probably about the same today... except ill make some chicken soup since im almost out of campbells. Oh n the honey i add to my theraflu lol i need alot to make it palatable!

Ugh, sick is no fun :(

Hope you feel better soon. Drink more liquid in and take care of yourself.

i am feeling much better! Now its jus the sniffles and a bit of a cough. Whew!

i didnt do so well eating over the weekend, but since i had little appetiate im not going to worry about it.today im back on track! I had 2 wraps for breakfast. Im going to have a salad with some grilled chicken for lunch and a yogurt. And some chicken soup for dinner. As well as my snacks of raw carrots, peaches, and an ounce of cheddar.

I didnt exercise over the weekend, its jus hard to summon the will power when you feel crummy, and with my sore throat it would have been uncomfortable, better to wait til i feel better... like today lol! Im going to go for a walk around my apt complex with my son and climb a million stairs. Then do some arm work while im at the comp.

How was your weekend?

Well its been 18 days.. and ive lost a whole pound!... *sigh* well in another 2 weeks ill be measuring myself, so hopefully that will be much better. But i dont know. Im just gunna blame it on my scale, cuz i know its wrong lol!

I think i am going to start going for AM swims. Ive been waking up extremely early (3AM) and i should try to get my workout in while i feel i have some energy.( LOL and that early i dont have to worry about scaring the kids LOL.) And a swim can be so nice and rejuvinating! Maybe ill take my sons airfilled ball (you know the ones they sell at grocery stores in the big bins) and do some resistance training with it. That sounds like an excellent idea!

breakfast; homemade olive bread, yogurt, cherries (346)

lunch; homemade chicken soup, homemade olive bread (335)

dinner; 6oz salmon, cucumber salad, 1/4c brown rice. (403) http://www.recipesource.com/main-dishes/meat/ seafood/salmon/salmon-en-papillote1.html (using less butter... lots less)

snacks; 100 cal pack popcorn, 1oz cheddar, 1 oz cashews (384)

total; 1465

My weekend has been fine. I have been in a cleaning kick lately. Trying to dust, vacuum and sort all the junk stuffs I have. Hopefully, I would have a emptier and calmer home in the process.

Swimming is a great idea. I usually do that after my wogging. My body feels energized instead of tired afterward. And.... I sleep so much better too.

Hey, one pound lost is better than no loss at all. How is your cardio? Are you keeping up with it? How about strength training?

My weight has been steady for 3 weeks now. I am beginning to hate to see that scale. But I think, it's finally starting to move down again. And this after I up the calorie intake. Weird !!

Hope you have a great day.

its nice to have a cleaning kick.. lol i havnt had one in a while... its starting to show lol.

My cardio is suffering a bit, cause by the time its late enough for me to not worry about waking my neighbors w my jumping around durning my cardio vid im burned out again, but my son is about to wake up so i cant go back to bed either, so i spend the whole day jus exahasted. Im hoping swimming might be the answer. If i wake someone up while im swimming... tough for them lol.

Good to hear your scale might be moving!... they ARE spawned from the devil lol. I think your body just falls into a rut and you have to shake it up to make it behave lol.

I am please that ive lost the 1 lb actually lol.... ive been calorie counting for months now and only lost 2 or 3... so 1 in just over 2 weeks is an improvment!

fyrfli, I know what you meant about disturbing the neighbour.

The apartment complex that I used to live, has a really "disturbing" neighbour. I could understand it, if I were having a loud party (which I never have by the way), or even jumping, but cutting vegetables in the kitchen is a noise disturbance? I mean I was called for every little noise there is. It was kind of funny when we asked the maintainence why we could not cook in the kitchen. They must have a super hearing. Needless to say I move as soon as my contract was up.

How about trying low impact cardio video at night/morning? It's not as hard on the joint or the neighbour :-) and you still burn some calories.

I had a court house wedding too, and we didn't tell anyone that we were going to do it!! (MMMHHHAAA) But, I recommend swimming laps to help with the arm jiggle. I love to swim, but I hate swimsuits, ahh, its a vicious circle.

Yoga will also help with toning as well, or pilates.

Well i finally got a "decent" nights sleep yay! So when i woke up this morning it was easy for me to put on my swim suit and head out... i forgot what a work out swimming was! But not in that sweaty exhasted way lol. I feel fanfreakintastic!! But that could be in part to the almost restful night lol. Yesterday i woke up at 1230 (AM), the night before i didnt sleep more than 20 min at a time before id wake up again, i spent the day in a fog! So my exercise has been nonexistant, but it was all i could do to keep my eyes open. But i feel great today! i might need a short nap later so i dont go to bed too early, but thats a maybe lol.

I only swam 25 min or so, but it was enough to have me a bit short of breath and i could feel the blood pumping!... lol it took me awhile to get used to the water it was cold!!! lol Ill do my arm work a bit later while im on the comp, and my mindless ball work lol (the rolling and squeezing i do while im at my desk).

I didnt count calories yesterday, but i dont think i ate too badly as i was to tired to get up n find something to eat most of the day, tho i did eat 1/3 of a girl scout blizzard lol... the rest is in the freezer. But im back at it today and its gunna be a good one!

breakfast; oatmeal made w 1/4c milk & 1/4c water, 1T walnuts, 6oz yogurt, (pre workout) and an apple (postworkout) (530)

snack; .5c milk, .5c coffee, 2T low sugar hersheys syrup (105)

lunch; 3/4c spaghetti, 1/4c 4 cheese pasta sauce (211)

snack; 1oz cheddar, 1 med nectarine (176)

dinner; grilled chicken breast (4oz), peach relish (homemade),  Scalloped potatoes (homemade), large salad w homemade lemon dressing. (440)

Total:1461

I had a neighbor like that... he worked nights so when we were up n about during the day it would wake him up. He complained about it a few times, but the complex just told him there was nothing they could do.. we didnt even know he had complained til we were moving out n he started yelling at us!... big meanie... lol. If i can keep my sleep to more than 4 hours i think swimming might be the answer.. i dont think my complex locks the pool at night, so even if i wake up extremely early i can go for a swim then, when i has some sort of energy... its just strange to me to be leaving the house at 4am.

lol we do want to have a big wedding eventually... thats why we arent telling anyone, im afraid alot of his family wont show up since it isnt the "real" event.. they are very traditional n wierd that way lol. Wink I Do want to have my big day after all lol.

I have a suit im pretty comfy in, its a tankini, the only thing it needs is a more supportive top, but i wont be jogging in it lol... tho when i push off the side of the pool it does sometimes slide down... LOL oops!

I should look up some new yoga... i think maybe a bit of yoga instead of Law n Order before bed might be more relaxing lol. And maybe pull out my windsor videos... i did pay a fortune for em... lol

well it is 3am again. *sigh* i just wasnt meant for sleep i guess. Good news is when i stepped on the scale a few min ago it read 232! WOOHOO!!!! Happy Sat to all!

Congrats fyrfli!!!! I knew you can do it.

You are about halfway to your goal of losing 20 pounds. At this rate, you will get there before October. You might even lose a bit more than that.

I finally managed to drag dh to exercise with me. He still grumbles about it, but at least he is doing some of it. I am so glad, I finally have a buddy to wog with.

Have a great weekend!!
