Are you getting married this summer?
Hi, My name is Deb and I am getting married on June 28, 2008. This will be my 2nd wedding as I am 43 yrs old. I was married before for 20 yrs and have 4 great kids, ages 22, 20, 11, and 6. I work full time as a medical secretary in a hospital in Edmonton.
I started my weight loss journey on Jan 9/08 at 178 lbs. At my weigh in last night I am down to 169.5 lbs. This is going a lot slower than I would like, but now that I am reaching the 10 lbs lost mark I am starting to feel a bit better.
I am hoping to connect with some other brides-to-be that are going through the same challenges as I am right now.
Hi! I am getting married April 19th. I am 36 , first marriage. No kids yet.I have 10 more pounds to lose. Stubborn pounds too. Congratulations on your marriage and your weight loss. I would say that if you have just started losing weight in Jan. then a 9 pound loss is great! I think it's best to lose weight more slowly than all at once, otherwise it comes back easier.
I think for me the hardest part about the weight loss and the upcoming wedding is the stress. I get all stressed out about losing the weight before the wedding and that makes me want to eat. lol! I am an emotional eater. I haven't been able to keep my calorie goals lately.
What keeps you motivated?
Hi, sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I actually forgot to come back and check for posts. 50 lashes!!!
My total weight loss is now up to 16 lbs. I'm really looking forward to cracking that 20 lb mark by the end of March.
Congrats on your upcoming marriage. Are you having a big wedding?
I too am an emotional eater. I'm staying motivated by visualizing myself looking great on my wedding day, and not looking like a fat blob rolling down the aisle. Every time I think about my dress it makes me want to go out and do some exercise. We also just bought a new house, with our possession date of Apr 10 so my next month will be filled with packing, then unpacking, and then the wedding will sneak right up on me. This is a good thing, because when I am busy I don't think about "snacking". I've learned to be satisfied by snacking on healthy foods too. I'm sure my weight gain came from the stressors of my last marriage and going through the separation and divorce. Hopefully, I'll never have to go through that again.
Would love to hear more from you.
Deb
Hi Deb,
A new house is so exciting! Congrats on your new house too! Isn't moving very unfun though? It is on of the things that I like least in the world, but hey it burns calories.
There was a birthday party at work and they had this HUGE chocolate chip cookie with all this frosting sandwiched in the middle and I think I ate about half of it. Its like the size of Jupitor. So I really blew it today. I was over my calorie limit by about 500 calories before noon:( Will have to force myself into a jog later.
I think my goal right now is to be able to fit into my dress! Keep thinking maybe I shouldnt have bought it so early. But I quess it will be ok as it is somewhat adjustable.
It's funny how a lot of people gain weight in an unhappy relationship. I was my heaviest when I was in a bad relationship. I just didn't feel like anything i did would make him happy so I fiqured , hey, why not be fat and eat what i want? Now I've git a keeper though, sounds like you have a great guy too.
Hi,
I'm new to this.. 23, getting married in September really can't wait but really need to lose those last 10Ib. I generally eat very healthily but am a complete succer for anything sweet and lots of chocolate. Injured my back at the moment with a slipped disc so I can't do any exercise at the moment which is really frustrating and I feel like I'm putting on tonnes of weight. Could really do with some support if anyone is up for the job?
Look forward to hearing from someone.
Pops
Thanks for the reply Galena. Is that your name???
I weighed in last week and I only lost 0.8 lbs, that was a little depressing. Guess I shouldn't have gone out for the celebratory dinner on the night we signed the closing papers for the house. I have to get serious about following my diet closer.
I'll supply your 50 lashes for eating the giant cookie....but oh my....it did sound yummy. LOL
What is your dress like? Mine is ivory, two pieces (corset top). Currently there is a train attached, but I am getting it altered to have it removed. I'm hoping they will "have to" take it in because of my huge weight loss before the wedding....LMAO. Tell me more about you and your man. How long have you known each other? What kind of job do you have?
I did put a pair of pants on today that I haven't fit into for the past 3 years, so that is kind of exciting.
Do you use facebook? I have a profile on there and if you do I would love to add you as a friend.
Deb
Hi Pops!!! Thanks for replying to my post. First off, congrats on your upcoming wedding. You should have no probs dropping 10 lbs by your wedding. That will come off quickly with increased activity and watching what you eat. I wish I only had 10 lbs to lose.
I know you can't exercise at the moment because of your back, but are you able to do extra walking? That is all I am doing for exercise, partly because I don't have much free time, and partly because I hate exercising. There is a gym here at work that I have been contemplating joining, so one of these days I just may bite the bullet and go there.
Hope to hear from you again soon.
Deb
Hi Deb thanks for the reply.
I have tried doing some walking (although I am slightly struggling at the moment due to the rain!). Its not working yet but I will keep trying.
Have you joined the gym yet? How is it going?
Hello all! I am also getting married, though not until Nov 1. I started on here mid-February, but have not quite hit the 10 lb loss mark. It's so frustrating! I'm in the gym 4-5 times per week, doing cardio and weight training, and I've been (surprisingly) good with watching my calorie intake. So hard to stay motivated sometimes...
My fiance is really supportive, but it's hard for him to understand where I'm coming from since he's tall and thin and fit, and naturally athletic (damn him!) Anyone else have that problem? I swear, he eats more in one meal than I do all day...
I'm 22, getting married in October, and have chronic disc issues stemming from a fall off a horse about 8 years ago. I had a pretty bad time about a month ago-couldn't even roll over in bed for a few days. I see a chiropractor now and have started weight lifting once I could move again and have had no issues-what kind of treatment are you doing?
Once you're feeling better I would suggest weights-my doctor and my chiropractor said a strong back and core is key if I don't want to end up having surgery before I'm 30.
I love this thread, congratulations to all the beautiful brides-to-be!
Hay lady,
I'm of for an MRI scan tomorrow then back to see the surgeon in a few weeks. At the moment I'm just doing a tiny bit of gentle swimming and walking (this is all I can manage really).
Do you do any cardio at all?
Hey Pops
Thanks for the reply. I'm so bad at remembering to check for them. Must be my old age setting in. LOL
No, I still haven't joined the gym, although I still plan to. I'm really really busy right now as we just bought a new house and we are moving in 2 wks. And guess what I did, I hurt my back lifting boxes......I've barely been able to move all week. I went to the doctor yesterday and she did some xrays but feels its likely muscular strain, and rest is the answer. Not a good time for me to rest!!! I'm seeing my chiropractor on Monday and he also does Active Release....I'm guessing that this will hurt, but I don't have time for back pain right now.
I had weigh in last night and I am now down 19.8 lbs. Should be able to hit that 20 lb mark next week. People are starting to notice my weight loss now and its the extra incentive I need to keep on going.
Hope all goes well with your MRI. Keep me posted.
Deb

First of all, Congrats on your upcoming marriage. It's so exciting planning a wedding. I'm enjoying this so much!!
It sounds to me like you are definitely in the right track with your activity. If you watch your calories and stay active, you will see results quickly. I have been dieting now since Jan 9th and have lost 20 lbs. I'm hoping to lose at least another 10 by my wedding date, but of course I'd be happy with more than that. Stay in touch and let me know about your progress.
