massive help needed ASAP

OMG ---   All my ex boyfriend had to do was google my email address and everything I have evder done on CC popped up for his reading. 

I lock my journals now, BUT if I keep looking on google, he can also read every forum post I have ever made.  

Is there any way to make that NOT possible?????  

I am going to have to stop using this place if nothing I ever say again is private, and that would KILL me. 

Please help!!!!!

hahaha-hope im not the only one, but i just put my email address in and it returned no results...

I don't know if it will help now that Google has already indexed your posts, but the way to have avoided it is by editing your profile.  Go to your profile page, click Edit Page (under your avatar).  There are various radio buttons you can select for what personal information you do or do not want to display, including your email address, and at the bottom of the page is a checkbox that will hide your profile and journal from search engines.  Make sure that box is checked.

he can read it all --- the journal, the posts, the "private" messages.   everything. 

You may not be able to do much about previous posts, but for the future, you can fix your profile (check the "Prevent profile and journal from being indexed vy search engines" box).

he absolute cannot read your PMs or your private journals unless he has your password --

Your public journal entries and your profile are available through most search engines unless you check the box.

As far as your forum posts go -- well, that is simply a matter of having a screen name he does not know, or being discreet while posting.

Be forewarned -- it will take some time for the past entries to cycle off of google -- so those cached items which were already searched on will still be available.

so all that needs to be done is make sure the prevent profile from being indexed by search engines box is checked?

i am so sorry olivia77 what an awful thing to find out - hopefully your ex didn't look up your email!!!  glad you changed it because no one wants their info shown like that!!

Olivia, I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Thank you for bringing this up -- it will be useful for other people. I checked my settings and my posts haven't been on Google.  I'm relieved.

Lesson one -  NOTHING you are posting on the internet in any form is 'private' 'secure' or untraceable, even if it says it is... It's always safest to assume that your parents, your employer and your next-door-neighbour are looking over your shoulder while you write, because almost anything can be tracked down fairly easily - often as easily as typing a username or email address into google, as you found out.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I see that one of my posts is available through google :(  What I did was go into that thread, click on "edit" on my comment, then delete the comment. This doesn't take the topic off google, but at least if he goes into the thread and there's somthing there you don't want him to read, he won't be able to.

Googling people is practically a national past time these days.
