ummm....yeah let us know how it turned out. Wow...that just seems too extreme for me. Have you thought of having an enema instead?
O_O

I'll pass. I don't think I've got the kind of time I'd need to be in the loo.
I would be leary of that one especially after their claim it results in weight loss of 2 pounds of fat per day for the average person. The human body CAN NOT lose more than 3 pounds of FAT a week! That's scientific fact. Sound to me more like this diet is going to dehydrate you more than anything else. I'd be extremely careful doing this.
That is a little too hardcore for me.  No food for 10 days?  Only lemonade and maple syrup?  I'm thinking the human body isn't meant to be treated like that.

Diet + Exercise = Best Weight Loss Plan Ever!!!
A Master Cleanse is good for giving your digestive system a break and for a brief cleansing fast but I would never do their 14 day regimen, it is too intense.

We sell these where I work and many people swear by them for cleaning out the system and helping your body detox, but I don't know anyone who went a full 2 weeks on it etc.

Use common sense (everyone) when using a cleanse or doing a fast.  It can be healthy and beneficial IF you know what you are doing, otherwise it's easy to get dehydrated and weakened.  Do be careful with these :)

I plan on doing one myself sometime this month now that I've lost most of the weight (and you won't lose permanent weight on the master cleanse) I want to detox my new body and then work on continuing to firm/shape and train to run...

Yeah - that seems a little over the top for me too. I do drink herbal laxative teas from time to time, like "Super Slimming" and "California Dieter's tea", but that's only when I need it, if you know what I mean. Please keep us posted on your progress with that. I'd love to hear about it from a person here than a "testimonial" from a website site.
Thanks christin for your support, I really appreciate it, truly I do!! This forum is hard for me because I feel I am being knocked for trying to be healthy but and I feel sooo great. I read alot of these posts- I dont have the complaints or gripes that anyone is having and I am trying to be positive and support others through my journey. Its interesting that I feel so good, not tired or frustrated at all, my body feels like it did when I was a young teen. Yet I feel like I am being dogged for my new healthy lifestyle here. But I do attend another forum for support since I dont feel it here-  I guess I deserve it because it wasn't that long ago I was like many here, the same way of thinking--but I cant argue with what is happening with me, I would have advised against it too once upon a time. But there is no way I will go back. For one, living this healthy is so easy once you get started, the weight is just melting off, and my body is healing itself in ways I never imagined. I just want my body to be as healthy as it can and I want to feel good--I feel like I am on that path.

I will post my Cleansing journey for the rest of you-- so you can judge at the end.

Thanks again Christins--hugs!
Hi ljacobs7 - I did the MC last year and it certainly isn't for everyone and as Christin points out not a weight loss method.

It was my first cleanse and I was doing it as an experiment more than anything else and only lasted 7 days before caving due to some social pressures (it makes it quite difficult to go out with friends, etc.)  Are you going for the full 10?

My experience during the cleanse was a general loss in energy (went to bed much earlier, had to stop cycling into the office and switched to taking the bus instead).  After the first couple of days when your metabolism grinds to a halt you definitely get in a zone, but I did find days 2-3 difficult when I believe my caffeine withdrawal was at its worst.

Beyond anything else, I feel doing the cleanse definitely made me much more aware of our relationship with food, and I noted a much-increased effort post-MC to improve my food choices.

Good luck and I look forward to your posts!
no i am doing it for digestive issues. my body isnt processing food like it used to since surgery. i had some soup monday night and i am having problems with my DS. although i will post weight loss in the journal for those interested.
surgery= gallbladder removed
LJacobs, I have read a few of your posts and I want to thank you.  I'm not going to go on a completely RAW diet, but I did take some of your good advice.  After work the other day, I went to the store and bought spinach, edamame, lettuce, cucumbers, strawberries, bananas, grapes, raw peanuts, and the list goes on and on.  My diet the last two days has been primarily fruit, vegetables, and nuts.  And I can honestly say that I feel pretty good.

I have digestive problems (they run in the family), and the last couple of months I haven't been feeling very well.  I guess I thought I just had to deal with it because it's hereditary.  I'm still going to eat other healthy foods (yogurt, skim milk, etc) but for the most part, I'm going to rely on fruits/veggies/nuts.  And once in a while I'll probably splurge as well.  But, the basis behind the RAW diet is so simple and I don't know why I have been ignoring it.  I've been told that my body can't digest fat very well.  Eating right makes all the difference in my health.

Like Erik, I'm  looking forward to your posts.
I just read your last post - I was checked for gallstones.  I don't have them, but my mother had to have her gallbladder removed because it wasn't functining correctly (not because of gallstones).  I haven't been back to the doctor because I know she's going to tell me that I need to have my gallbladder taken out.
I too look forward to your posts - I was investigating doing a cleanse or a fast before I started dieting.  I used to have such a terrible time - I would eat and then 20 minutes later frantically need a bathroom so I was hoping a cleanse would clean me out and get me re-started.  I have given up caffine entirely just this week - I haven't actually seen any of your other posts but I am sure that people were just giving you heart felt advice based on their concern for you well being.   But I am very interested in seeing what you have to say about it and would definitely consider trying it for the cleanse - not the weight loss.  10 days without food sounds very initimidating - please keep coming back - and if you find it was terrible for you and it didn't go as you had hoped that would be very useful to see as well!  I am glad that you are feeling so great!! Just keep up with your yearly medicals and take advice from your doctor!  We can be supportive without joining in on your regime! I don't have a problem with that at all!
Thank you Clay, I can feel the love! HAHA! Before surgery, I had been working on my diet watching what I eat and exercising religously. Since I decreased my calories 2500-3000 to 1200 calories, I developed my stone. I wasn't sure what it was at first other than pain at night after eating. I found that if I didnt eat past 5 I would be okay..for awhile. All the while I was still doing my 30 min or HIT cardio and weight training with the advice of a trainer. I also ran my foods by him too. I lost a total of 10 lbs in two months, so pretty reasonable. But then the pain got worse at night. It was horrible- worse than labor! Into the doc I went and through the labs and they found a stone the size of connecting your first finger and thumb to make a circle (saying A-ok). So they scheduled my surgery. Within a weeks time, anytime I ate, I had pain. So the doc put my on a liquid diet and on vicodin/percocet 24/7 until surgery- a week away. Talk about hard on your body..but I slept alot. After surgery, I wasn't allowed any food day 1, but could on day 2. So I tried eating day two and everything came back up. So I called the doc, he said I had to ease into it because I had been fasting so long. So I tried easing into it--what did that mean anyways? Everything I put into my mouth came back, except fruit and my salad. I was trying to get back into my diet from before so I could get back to working out. I had a friend who had joined me on my quest and she was waiting for me to heal so we could back on track. I talked to others who fasted and what they recommended, but it didnt work. Then I came across being raw. And that has worked and I have continued to lose my weight and I feel great. I often wonder though if I could have done the flush that I read about versus the surgery. I don't like surgery. For one, why did God give us a body part that we really don't need? That doesnt make sense. And two, I DIDNT LIKE SURGERY..I was scared. That was my gallbladder experience. Good luck Clay and thanks so much for your words. I was hopeful that I could come across at least ONE person who would listen to me.
I will chime in here and say I believe surgery is way overused and much too freely given for gallbladder issues.  I have issues with gal stones too and I have managed it well through diet and exercise.  I do believe that all natural resources should be exhausted before just opting to take out a body part.  Contrary to popular doctor opinion gallbladders serve a very important function in the body and should only be removed in my humble opinion ;), as a last resort.

I will not opt for surgery ever unless and until it becomes so debilitating I can't manage it :).

I guess I look at it kidn of like my asthma... I can't go removing a lung now just because they don't work right sometimes and cause me pain ;) so I learn to manage that through diet/exercise and supplements etc... same for galbladders and kidneys etc etc.. an ounce of prevention as they say :)...
Oh, I'm listening.  Like I said, I don't have stones, but the pain I had after eating certain foods was tremendous.  I was doubled over, holding my right side, not able to breath.  I rely on Google for everthing, so after some research I knew what the problem was.  I also have irritable bowel syndrome, so I can't eat a lot of fat (salad dressing, pizza, whole milk) unless I drink a lot of water.  Don't ask me why, but hydration plays a big part in how my body digests food.

I read a lot the other day about the RAW diet.  While it may not be for everyone, it seems to be a God's send for those with digestive problems and other ailments.  If it works for you, great.  Today I ate a banana and apple for breakfast.  I'm snacking on baby carrots now and will have homemade trail mix (almonds, pumpkin seeds, pine nuts, peanuts, dried cranberries, and raisins) and edemame for lunch.  I will also go down to our cafeteria and get a salad (lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower) with balsamic vinegar. I have an orange and grapes for this afternoon.  I don't know if my diet is truly RAW, but it's better than what I was eating before:  pop-tart for breakfast, hot pocket for lunch, meat and potatoes for dinner.  I was always good on calories, but none of it is very healthy.  I haven't had my usual cramps, bloating, etc. Yes!!!!
YES CHRISIN! I so agree! But with my GB gone, this is what I am doing. I dont think Raw is for everyone, but def worth looking into if you have tried other diets. I dont think i could have done it if his medical history hadnt occurred. i commend those that try it and can stick to it! I have found on the other forum that very few (i havent any) have gone 100 raw. they cheat. one person is raw/vegan during the week and eats a SAD on the weekend. even the gurus admit to eatting cooked foods and what have you occasionally.

clayton, i am wondering if you don't have a stone stuck in a duct. after surgery i had some pain afterwards, and if i eat certain foods still. labs say no stone, but its the same pain...like you describe. low fat foods make it worse. with eating raw, no pain. i think you are on the right track and while most people go raw gradually, you (like I) have to switch quickly to avoid PAIN. I wish you the best of luck as you go and ask any questions!! its a trial and error thing..but it sounds like you have already started heading down the path of becoming raw....i am so proud of you and so excited. i think you will enjoy it..if anything..no more pain! please consider registering for the other forum that i am in so you can read about others on the same path. i think you will find it encouraging, supportive and informative.

www.rawfoods.com  check the community forum. my screenname is lynette there and i am starting this MC with a guy named nathan1234. he has yet to start though.
I hope you don't feel that I was knocking your hard work toward health, on the contrary-I eat mostly fruits and veggies for my carbs. I gave up bread and pastas, and eat rice sparingly-I feel much better for it. I've even added more beans to my diet. I just don't feel totally raw is for me.

I too have had my gallbladder removed, nearly ten years ago now, and there are foods I will never be able to eat again. shortly after surgery, my body would chastise me with pain and 'the runs' when I ate something it just couldn't process any more. now I avoid those foods. dairy and eggs were big no nos for me-have you been experiencing the same?

I don't think I'm ready for the cleanse, but I certainly wish you success with it. :)
No choco, we are cool..grin! From the sounds of it, you are alot raw. there are some people who arent vegans but consider themselves raw. we have alot in common than you thouht!?! becoming extreme raw isnt the answer for alot of people..and like i mentioned, you can be raw and still eat other foods occasionally. as i read more threads from the other site, i am finding it has alot to do with a mental state...do you strive to be healthy by eating mostly raw foods? but there are those on there eating ice cream and meat and what have you. but it isnt daily, or even weekly for many. and it takes very little for them to enjoy it. whereas before eating three pieces of pizza, or the entire plate while at a resturant was easy for me. now its a few bites and they have had their fill of it.

as far as the cleanse, no it isnt for everybody, and certainly not for weight loss. if you lose, that is just an added benefit of having your system cleaned out. i thought i would post it on this site in addition to the other one i am because i thought many would find it interesting and possibly enlightening. i think everyone in THIS forum is striving for better/good health, besides weight loss. i didnt think that this type of discussion arose often and thought it might benefit somehow. i really dont intend to offend anymore by any means, just striving for my own growth myself. i am not letting those who are telling me how unhealthy i going- get to me, my body is telling and showing me otherwise. i am fully aware that there are those who think I am a nut or crazy for going down this path-- i think i would have too in the past! afterall, everything i had read on becoming more fit and healthy had contradicted what IS HAPPENING TO ME. after i changed reading materials and switched over, i am not having the problems that i used to. keep in mind, when i lose weight, it isnt everyday. at the end of a week or so, thats when the numbers change. i weigh in on fridays...but am addicted to the scale and step on it daily. i just dont count any days of what the numbers say except fridays. and thats when my numbers usually drop. so weight loss is only secondary to this cleanse. i know we have 9 ft of DS tubing that is normally full of crap, so i want to clean that out. thanks for the encouragement and i look foward to your support.  look for my posts on MC journal and pls add your comments questions and support under the the MC question/comment thread. thanks!

PS..Roxanna..thanks for your support. Pls continue and post any questions and comments like i mentioned up above!
