Weight Loss

Are the calories you eat right before bed worse than the calories you eat at supper or earlier in the day? Does it make any difference? Aren't calories just calories...the same any time of day, or should you not have anything after a certain time of evening? I've heard conflicting opinions. What's right?

I am not sure if a calorie is just a calorie.
If I eat yogurt right before bed, I have some wild dreams.
If I eat bread before bed, I get heartburn.
Try a sweet potato or cucumbers, they are suppose to help with relaxing and are filling.
There are more, I just can't think of them right now.

Dear MRSJ, calories are the same no matter what time of the day eaten, however, there are hormonal consequences. To give your body a chance to properly regulate and balance it is best, in my opinion, not to eat to close to retiring. If you must eat later at night try to eat fibrous carbohydrates with some protein. Stay away from starchy carbohydrates and simple carbohydrates like candy bars, fruits, sweet drinks etc. etc. Good luck.
