May-August: Summer Weight Loss
I'd like to start a group for some people who really want to get in shape for or during the summer. I thought i'd start a group to see what the turnout would be if i started a group, since we have far too many empty groups on here! We can find buddies or just share advice on how to stay healthy, exercise and even good recipes for the summer season!
My stats:
Age: 18
Height: 5'10
Weight: 161lbs
Something about yourself: I am a recovering bulimic (even though it's been years) and am trying to cope with my binging habits.
ATTENTION:
Glad to see so many replies:) I fele like a proud mama, haha.
Should i go ahead and make the actual "group" and move ourselves out of the forum? Or should we keep this format?
I was thinking that in the group we could at least have private forums, with different topics for Weigh-ins, Tips, Recipes, Welcomes, General Talk and whatnot, but it's you guys who make the group:) so what do you think?
Hey all! I was looking for another forum to be part of as I've been MIA for a while. Had some health stuff which didn't allow me to workout just as I was getting close to my goal to! But now i'm back, even happier with myself, but ready to loose the extra flub i've gained and never got to loose:).

155lbs
Goal weight by June 18th (bday) 150 and then 145 & tone from there
I'm cool with the forum format. Are we going to have regular weigh ins? I read something about saturdays but not sure if its official. I suggest a midweek weigh in, like wednesdays. Looking forward to chatting it up with you guys, and seeing everyone progress!

So, I am looking at pictures of the "Biggest Losers" and I don't understand. Where are the skin flaps left over from being fat? This is a serious worry for me. Enough so that it makes me rethink becoming thinner/healthier. What if I actually do lose the 80 or more lbs that I want to lose and my body looks worse than ever because of all of the loose, stretched skin? That would seriously suck.
By the way...Dear Asphyxiac, I have been there. I gained TONS of weight from meds. Like 40lbs worth. The rest of the weight came naturally. haha. I can sympathize with your situation. Unfortunately, I will never be able to come off of my meds so weight loss is that much more of a battle. Keep up the good work. Every lb counts.
A
I'm sorry that you can't come off of your meds :(
It's literally impossible to lose weight when on medications that cause you to gain. I remember reducing calories to an obscene level when I first found out how much I had gained - and the scale still didn't budge. It was incredibly frustrating. In a way, I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one this happened to, but I'm also irritated that in this day and age, we still don't have targeted medicines. Most medications are so general, and have such wide-ranging effects, that it's sort of a gamble to take them. I'm waiting for the day when we can target specific ailments and minimize side effects, so this kind of junk doesn't happen to people.

Happy soon-to-be birthday, fellow Gemini (June 10th here).
Okay- I'm jumpin' in too!!
My stats:
Age: 29 (soon to be 30 in August)
Height: 5'2
Weight: (starting) 174
Weight: (now) 164
Weight: (goal) 125/130
Since I'm only down about 10 lbs in almost 2 freaking months, I don't suppose I'll reach my goal anytime soon. Turns out I have a hypothyroidism. Just started taking medicine so hopefully it'll work. I eat 1500- 1700 calories on average and excercise hard 4 to 5 times a week for an hour and a half. Never had an eating disorder thankfully and always ate well but just too much (portion size).
By the end of the summer if I can get down to 145/150, I'd be ecstatic. I just bought a hoola-hoop and hopefully that will get me great results (while having fun!!)
Yaaay Us!!!
Hoolo-hoop? i used to love those, haha, i might have to try that. Does anybody remember "skip it"s? Like you had to swing your one foot to make the rod go round and then jump over it with the other foot....well, i'm not good at explaining things am i,haha.
so Tomorrow is weigh in, though we can do it in the middle of the week too, if anyone prefers. I hope i've gotten down a little bit, i've been trying to be really good this week with my binging habit and only fell off of the wagon once.
A weigh-in tomorrow sounds good. I'll make a point of going to the gym as I have decided to use their scale for accuracy. The news probably won't be good as I went on a date with my husband. We were critiquing (sp?) a restaurant that he is going to consult with. Needless to say we had some of everything. To top it all off...it wasn't that good.
I am happy with the group idea as I think that it will be harder to get to know people if we stay in the forum. You just have to tell me how to get to the newly formed "group". I am a little on the slow side when it comes to this website. I spend a lot of time reading entries and little time using the tools.
Cmiriah, can you resend that email about how to make someone a friend etc. My husband seems to have deleted it and I only had a chance to scan it for instructions.
I'm glad that I am not the only one with a bingeing habit. My time is usually dinner. I eat well all day long then comes dinner. I worry that maybe I'll be too hungry during the evening so I eat a little extra. Plus I have trouble working out all of the calories for a dinner ie: lasagna or delivery pizza or anything that doesn;t break down easily into categories like 1 cup of rice, 3 cups of veggies etc.
I'm rambling. Time to go

Well to make someone a friend, you just have to go on their profile page and click add as friend, or something similar to that.
but yeah, i'll resend the message for you:)
Asphyxiac my fellow gemini, hey!:) It seems we may have a couple summer bday's, hi sheherizaad!
Sheheriazzd I hope the medications work well for you so you can start to loose weight. Maybe you can consult with someone about the best way to loose weight with that condition?
Cmiriah- I use to love skip its! My neighbour use to have one and I would jump with her or borrow it...good memories:)![]()
thank god my jumbled description was clear enough for someone besides myself, haha. i was just thinking, that was actually a pretty good workout, if you did it for a length of time. i should start doing simple things like that, that are fun, but are good for getting in a little bit of extra activity without it feeling like work
I loved Skip-it!! I used to play with that for HOURS. But I was never able to switch feet and so my right leg would turn the thingamajiggy while my left leg skipped!! lol. After a while, my right leg was skinnier than the left... :D
I'm really excited about the hula hoop. Some people do it while they watch tv and so half an hour goes by like nothing! Supposedly, it works your core so well, that you can only start with 30 seconds a day otherwise you'll do some major damage (bruising, soreness, etc).
Bkmanda- I spoke to the endocronologist an he said we should do a 6 week checkup (coming up in about another week or so). I told him what I did in so far as working out and what I ate, and he said to keep on truckin'... I don't expect overnight results and I feel soooo much better now that I'm moving. I haven't lost much in so far as lbs but everyone tells me I look a lot tighter so that's motivating me!
With support and a sound plan, I'm positive we'll all get to our goals!! Yaaayy us!! (Again...lol)
i now think i may get a hula hoop, haha. that does sound pretty easy. and a skip-it, if i can even manage to find one, it's been like a decade or so since they've been popular.
Saturday weigh-ins!
I'll be the first i guess. I'm not sure the format for weigh-ins but i'll just make one up:)
Starting Weight: 167
Last weeks Weight: 167
Current Weight:158?!?
Goal Weight: 130
the only explanation for the weird-weight loss is that SInce i used to eat meals big enough for 3 people (i am definately not lieing either) and snacks as bug as meals, my body is likeliterally going into shock from the healthy normal sized meals i have been eating.

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
