haha...not a dumb question at all, Ive actually wondered the same thing before.  So I looked it up and apparently most nuts come from trees or bushes. I guess kind of just like fruit.  I think peanuts are grown in the ground though.

Most nuts aren't actually nuts. Almonds botanically are considered fruit, and peanuts are legumes (like beans). But I mean you know, they're still nuts by anyone's standards.

Most are plants, peanuts are actually legumes. I learned this last year, did you know bananas are actually herbs? And strawberry's aren't fruit, their something weird....

Peanuts are a legume and grow under the ground like miniature potatoes... most (possibly all) other nuts grow on trees or large bushes.

It wasn't until I moved to a farm that I found out what potato seed was. I mean, the seeds in apples and oranges are obvious, but I had no idea what a potato seed looked like. It's the peel!

I think they just fall from the sky.

Careful!

Actually, everything you guys just mentioned is considered a fruit, biologically. Nuts, vegetables, and BANANAS!! Sorry, but banana's aren't herbs.
