Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Games and Challenges forum

Hey all,

From across the pond (UK) i would like to join this group. I have a holiday with the fella in June and want to be bikini fab by then!

SW:161lbs on 25/03/2009

CW:156lbs on 30/03/2009 (is my first week so alot of my weight loss is water retention from all the salty food i used to eat and not enough fluids)

LW: 150lbs which i have only ever got to once before (a year ago) and felt amazing. Been on the decline since Christmas.

GW: Was 150lbs but i know i'd feel better at 148lbs so i'm going to go for it!

CALORIE LIMIT: 1500. I'm 5'9" with a large frame so this seems to be working for me so far.

BREAKFAST: Big bowl of fruit and fibre cereal with skimmed milk, or two slices of wholemeal toast with crunchy peanut butter. No butter on the toast though!

A piece of fruit.

LUNCH: Something filling, balanced and around 600 calories.

A piece of fruit.

DINNER: 2 chicken breasts without skin or salmon fillet after the gym with some steamed veggies or salad.

A piece of fruit.

SNACK: Fruit!...mostly ;-)

EXERCISE: 3 nights a week cardio with 1/2 hour of Hatha Yoga at the end of each session. 2 weight nights per week (sometimes combined with the cardio nights, depending on motivation, energy and time). Walking to work from the station everyday (15 mins each way).

WATER: Erm...not enough. Will try to hit 2l a day.

MEET YOUR GOAL?: I need to hit my goal by the end of May.

GOOD ADVICE FOR ANYONE: By using CC's food and activity logs i have found that i can actually eat more than i normally do. It was just my choices in food that were making me put on weight. I can also keep track of my defecit every day and make sure i'm not eating more than i'm burning off. If i have a naughty snack then i just work harder in the gym that night or if it's a naughty meal i'll add another night of cardio. It's important for me not to get bummed out about it and stay positive as i'll end up comfort eating or not eating at all, punishing myself for being bad.

Good luck everyone.

What days are we weighing in?

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all off to a great start!

I weigh in everyday, but maybe Friday is a good day to post? Its before the weekend, which is usually off days for some. But anything is fine.

My diet(1500 cals target) is usually many small meals.Very heavy on cottage cheese. I do this weird thing with cottage cheese, splenda, cocoa powder, and then.... I dump a bit of diet sunkist soda on top of it and make it a bit soupy, like runny oatmeal.  It has an chocolate orange flavor...sound weird I know! Usually once a day I add in a bunch of berries. I usually have cottage cheese for 2 small meals.

For breakfast, I often have egg whites in a whole wheat low fat wrap.

Then large salads with some grilled chicken and lots of veggies once or twice a day.

Sweet potatoes and apples get added in along with a small whole wheat roll with my salads.

I also eat bison meat in a whole wheat wrap from time to time.

On bad days, a power bar or maybe even a bagel sneaks in.

On really bad days, 3-5 glasses on white wine. Really working on my alcohol intake, its a tough one for me. I dont drink that often, but once a week or so, I drink enough to damage my progress. I wish I could stick to 2 glasses, but after 2, that third one seems like such a great idea!!!

I used to weigh in every day, but that does not work well for me, so I started to weigh every 5 days on the 5th, 10th, 15th, etc of the month.

Friday weigh ins would be good for me also.

I also tend to eat small meals and breakfast is usually oatmeal with milk. My main problems are drinking enough water and controlling my eating in the late afternoon/evening. Any good tips?

That oatmeal this is the grossest thing I've ever heard gabrielle!! Surprised

I don't remember all the questions, but I'm definitely up for the challange.  Haven't lost any weight since before Thanksgiving (although I did lose an inch around my waist) and can't get control of the munchie beast!!

My start weight is 209

Highest weight was 235

Lowest weight was 152

Goal weight 150

Eat between 1500 - 1600 calories a day

Drink about 40 oz. of water

Work out 5ish days a week doing Turbo Jam/treadmill.

I'd love to join - I'm aiming to lose 9 lbs by the May long weekend.

SW 129

GW 120

Calorie limit: 1600.

Food plan for today: oatmeal & Craisins for breakfast, apple & cheddar cheese for morning snack, cottage cheese & green salad for lunch, wholegrain pasta & veggies for dinner.

Plus an at-home workout for 45 minutes.

I would love to be partners with you for motivation questions etc.

i am trying to do the same thing and I keep gaining like half a pound, I need to figure out why...

Anyway would really love to be your partner hold you accountable.

I work in London's West End and don't finish until 6.30pm. I find that by having all of my food before 7pm and staying in the gym from 7-9 (meaning i get home from London around 10-10.30pm) stops me from even thinking about food in the evening and i've had a chance to work most of it off. If i crave anything when i get in i'll have a bowl of cereal. I also don't keep anything yummy in the cupboards as i know i'll head straight for it when i get in.

On nights that i'm not in the gym i'll go to my boyfriend's place where i'd never ask him for food so it takes the temptation straight out.

Low fat Carte D'or vanilla ice cream and frozen grapes is so yummy and feels so naughty even when it isn't that bad. It actually feels like a treat when i have it.

SOLD! I am weighing myself today so don't know where I am at yet (last was around 162lbs). I was recently working in Mexico for a week then was sick for a week so I've missed two weeks of diet and excercise, however everything still fits the same so I shouldn't be off my much.

CALORIE LIMIT: 1300-1500

My diet consists of a variety of things. I try to eat an equal amount of Fats/Proteins/Carbs. I eat three meals a day + two snacks and not within 3hrs of bed time.

EXERCISE: 5x a week for 1-1.5 hrs. Cardio for usually 3/4 or the time + weight training, some yoga, tai chi and pilates work too once or twice a week.

WATER: Um whenever I can haha. I'm also drinking lot's of iced green and white tea rather than Crystal Lights/Pop.

MEET YOUR GOAL?: I am hoping to lose 10lbs by the beginning of May

GOOD ADVICE FOR ANYONE: Be patient... and I need to take that advice myself as well because I get discouraged when I don't see results soon enough.

A bit about myself... I am 24yrs old and 5'7". I have successfully lost weight before (was about 15lbs from my final final goal, lost 30lbs overall) but last summer I broke my knee and since have gained 10lbs. I have been trying to lose it since the end of January but my body is NOT reacting. I have been told knee injuries can really affect weight loss so I am going to go extra hard at this for the next few weeks... thus why I need this little group! Trust me I WILL get frustrated!

OK, I'm onboard!!

I'm 51, 5'4", and 150 lbs. At 51, 10 lbs in a month is a little high of an expectation. However, let's see how it goes.

CW:  150 lb

GW:  140 lb

CALORIE LIMIT:  1300-1600 with a daily variance

EXERCISE:  Cardio 4 X a week for 1-2 hours and 10,000 step goal daily when I work.

WATER:  No problem! I drink A LOT of water.

MEET YOUR GOAL?:  We will see. Know that I will give it my best.

GOOD ADVICE FOR ANYONE:  I will use the CC tools every day for the month of April. When I stick with the plan, I succeed.

AH! Up 3lbs in two weeks. Man it comes on fast when you don't look. re-Start at 165...

I am soooo gonna do this!! I really LOVE having lost this 10-12 pounds(goes back and forth due to fluctuations) and I can really feel it by my clothes, more definition in my legs and just feeling much more like my old self.

I cannot wait to see what the next 10lb loss would look like!!Tongue out

Gabrielle, i seem to hold weight on my thighs so i'm looking forward to seeing the weight come off my legs too. When i have hit my target i'm treating myself to some shorts for my holiday and some new shoes - strappy wedge things to go with the shorts. I have never worn shorts before but as my goal weight is below what i have ever been before, i think it will be an achievement really worth treating myself for.

Ok, i'm going to start a sub topic for motivation for everyone on here....

What are you going to treat yourself to for hitting your target?

We can keep coming back to it whenever we feel we're going off the rails slightly and our target treats will keep us all motivated. 10lbs is a lot to lose so having that carrot dangling at the end of the line will make that hard work so much more rewarding.

It'd be cool to take a pic of your potential reward (if you have something particular in mind) and post it here so you can see it whenever you want. We should all post pics of us with our rewards once we've hit our goals!!!

Clothes? shoes? bags? big cream cake? Lol.

I love the idea of posting what we want to reward ourselves with. I want to buy a fabulous pair of NON-stretch jeans.  Side note, does anyone find that stretch jeans can be annoying?  I have a particular pair that is kind of tight when I first put them on but then the seat of the pants get so stretched out that when I take them off at the end of the day I think, dang! My but must be HUGE!

So my next 10 lbs I should fit perfect into my size that I used to be in high school and college, before having kids.  I don't know where I'll shop for jeans, I usually just buy wal-mart.  Does anyone have a great pair of jeans they would recommend?

Also, when I lose my next 10 lbs. I am throwing away my bigger clothes so I HAVE to stay on this new wonderful track.  I can't really afford to spend much on clothes, so it WILL work. :) I still have some clothes from high school - almost 10 years ago, so I'll be able to wear a few of those things and I'll gradually build up a new collection of clothes in my "perfect" size.  i'm so excited!

CALORIE LIMIT: 1300-1500

BREAKFAST: Serving of cereal with low fat milk/Serving of instant Quaker Oatmeal prepared with low fat milk and water

LUNCH: Grilled chicken salad

DINNER: Tilapia and veggies

SNACK: Crackers with cream cheese, banana, etc.

EXERCISE: Walking and stairs.

WATER: Aiming for 64oz a day although I honestly don't meet my quota as of yet

MEET YOUR GOAL?: 10lbs by April 26, My 24th birthday

GOOD ADVICE FOR ANYONE: Can't preach what I don't practice! ;) Maybe in a few weeks I'll have some (I just started diet ... today!)

See my gallery for my shorts and shoes :-) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will have them when i hit my target of 148lbs.

awesome shorts and shoes!!!!  That will be so great, won't it!?

I like the Rider jeans from WalMart. They fit, flatten the stomach, and wear well. They do have a little stretch, but it's the good kind that moves back when you stand up and stretches a bit when you sit down. They are supposed to make you look thinner. They do for me.

My treat is going to be lingerie. The panty drawer will be discarded and I am getting all new undies. I need cotton for work (boring white) but colors will be nice for everything else. Just can't decide between hi-cut and bikinis. Guess that's something else to look forward to.

J-mom

kazykim007 your shorts and shoes look adorable.

hcannon23 I agree with you on the stretch jeans. However I do like the jeans like the Riders at Walmart that jehzimom likes. They have just enough stretch to be confortable and make me look a bit thinner.

I think that I will do haircut and color for a reward to make me feel even better...

Oooh, lingerie is a good option! What better way to feel great about yourself?!

I cheated. I already bought a gorgeous baby pink and blue bra and knickers set from Caprice's range a week before i decided to try and lose weight. I bulge out at the hips in the bottoms so i can't wait to try them on at the end....if they still fit! ;-)

A new haircut for a new you! Fab idea. Maybe you could find a pic of what you're going to do with your hair and post it for motivation. Does a celeb have a similar colour/style?

As for stretch jeans H, i find the problems with jeans for me is that they are always too tight in the hip. I have a smallish waist but large hips and because i'm tall the waist on a normal jean digs into my hips. If i go up a size they're too big everywhere else!

Therefore i have to buy stretch jeans or i don't get a good fit.

Do you guys have Topshop? They do an awesome pair of jeans called Eva which is a skinny flare with slight stretch. They're fitted to below the knee, not on the knee, making the legs look longer and leaner. I now have 5 pairs in different colours and am praying they make them forever! They range from a 29" - 34" inside leg which is great for me and i can wear heels with them.

courtneylauren

i know my little diet plan isn't the best thing in the world but i figure that i get protein from the peanut butter and i will switch it up a little i guess i do need more veggies and fruit.
