Welcome bittenkittenx and stacimae.

To everybody that is somewhat discouraged, just hang in there. One day at the time...

kishmish, 120 Lb. is a weight that most peolpe would kill for... Don't let the scale get you down.

Yesterday I almost cheated, started eating some Dove chocolate miniatures, but stopped at 2 and the mini carrots saved me!

buttonszandxbows - thanks for the encouragement.  lol...nice threat on the bodysnatching..it did a good job on making me appreciate what i got! OH ya, congrats on the 1 pound drop!  how  long have u been on a plateau?

topazia - try 10 mins of stretching b4 and after working out.  your muscles just might be tight from exercise or weight training.  taking vitamins wont hurt and u can get some bases covered

amcm - thanx...im totally going to pretend the scale is nonexistant.  carrots dooooo save the day...the many times ive grabbed that instead of ice cream!

yay im excited! i'd like to be in this others. thanks!

Height: 5'6"

High weight: 155

Things that trip me up:

-i can't go to bed on an empty stomach

-i love carbs

-i don't do much at all during the day

-i used to have an eating disorder so it's a constant struggle to keep in the right mind set and do everything in moderation

-i weight myself too much. i'll try to weigh myself at most every 3 days

thanks for your support!

<33

thanks!! im here for you too! and everyone :]

kishmish - glad my threatening behavior helped! I've been on a plateau for EVER. Ok, maybe it's more like 3 or 4 weeks... but it feels like forever... I really want to get below 150lbs. That's a start!!

I feel really motivated right now. I WILL lose weight, and get fit, and so will all of you gals! (and guys? not sure if there are any men here at the moment...)

Welcome to everyone new! xx

Ugh, it's been a difficult (and stressful) couple days. I didn't get a workout in today OR yesterday so I'm hoping to squeeze it in before work tomorrow. Good thing I walk a couple miles a day just to get where I need to be! As far as the diet, I've gone over 1500 the past two days as well, but still stayed a few hundred below maintenance.

I don't weigh until Monday, time to get serious. Looking for my motivation again, in the midst of the craziness of my life.

Question- does stress REALLY, physically effect weight loss in your opinion/experience? Or is it just that stress tends to make some people eat more, leading to weight gain? I'm not interested in scientific studies, I've checked those out. I'm curious about your experience!

Sincerely,

The girl trying to lose weight in the last month of the semester...

Height: 5'4"

High weight: 151

Current weight: 140

Goal for end of May: 130-135

Ultimate goal weight: 125

This past week has been hard. I can't seem to get under 140. I have a wedding to go to in May so I hope I can loose the weight!

Ok, weighed in at the gym yesterday (i've taken to weighing there so i don't get obsessive) and i'm 155lbs. It TOTM for me so i'm pleased i haven't gained like i thought i would. Felt a bit disheartened with only 1lb as i've been working my butt (literally) off in the gym but i did lose nearly 5lbs in my first week which was mostly the water i was retaining.

My waist feels smaller in my clothes so i suppose i have to account some of that weight to muscle gain.

Onwards and upwards!

There's only a couple of days in the week left so everyone make a commitment to be super good until the weekend and not cheat. It's only a couple of days! X

Hey everyone, also a bit late, but I hope I can join in. :>

:o

My house is very healthy, we eat only the healhiest, and I don't eat any junk food, we use the healthiest rice and salt; (Why is healthy always more expensive damn it? :<) And cut out processed foods.

CW- 158

3.  Stretch/Yoga for 30

Hoping to get down to 148ish by May and 130 or less by mid July. We'll see.

buttonsxandxbows - 3-4 weeks? wow no wonder your frustrated.  when i started my weight loss thing about 5 weeks ago, i didnt see any loss for the first few weeks, and then bam, it all fell off within a week and a half....did you check your measurements instead of the weight? maybe they r going down

bluecolors - i think stress can affect weight in the sense that we tend to make poor choices.  some deal with stress by rewarding themselves with fattier foods b/c they feel like it was an accomplishment to get through the day.  others lose their appetite and dont eat at all.  but im no scientist :P

krazy kim - you may want to keep a measurement diary..i keep one, so when i gain weight or i dont budge, i take my measurements and see if theres any change there...it can save you from feeling miserable!  im pretty sure 1 lb is pretty damn good of a loss in anyones eyes! congrats

hakusaki - welcome.  1100 calories is not good!  i know courtneylauren is going to be all over this :) comeonnn tell her something you always have some great advice.  well i would say try to get your minimum 1200 cals in, and if your stuffed, you should try using olive oil in your cooking to increase the cals, or put peanut butter on your toast...something calorie dense.

TODAY IS MY WEIGH IN -- so i have gained back all the weight i have lost.  in the last week..so im at 120 (up to from 118) BUT i did whip out my measuring tape, and in most areas im exactly the same as i was at 118, but a tad smaller in my hips and my thighs, so it was muscle gain (thanks to my crazy trainer who is on heavy-weights mode).

The only reason im upset is because i have a bet with my fiance that i would be 113 by our wedding day (may 15th) and whoever wins our weight loss bet (he has to lose a certain amount too), gets to spend $1000 of the wedding money on a new wardrobe, shoes, whatever we want.  i know if i wasnt gaining muscle i would totally get there, but im actually happier gaining muscle (meaning i can eat more) and your body looks more sculpted...but the money could have bought me tonsssss of shoes!

i binged.. i need some tips not to binge

i binged.. i need some tips not to binge

1) make sure your eating enough

2) throw out potential foods you know you cant control yourself around (mine is chips and chocolate)

3) dont go too long between meals without having a snack (even carrot sticks help, watermelon is filling, etc)

4) always plan out your meals.  this will ensure you dont panic at 8 pm when you dont hve anything to eat and go "oh well" and grab something unhealthy.  stock that fridge for the week!

5) ask  yourself if the food is worth the crappy feeling afterward...usually it isnt!

don't beat yourself up about it-- we all do it from time to time.  It's so hard to be "good" all the time.  My last diet I ate an entire pan of mac n cheese, you know the blue box kind!!  I was making it for my girls and after I dipped theirs, I finished off the entire thing!! But, my diet counselor at the time really made me feel better by just letting me know that we all do it.  We are human, and we all have cravings. It's not the end of your diet if you do binge. Just pick up where you left off and keep up your regular diet routine.  Kismish is right with all the tips though, it will make it easier to resist your cravings if you keep healthy snacks around, don't go too long between meals (or snacks), and clear out all the dangerous foods.  Just know that it will be ok, and on the positive side- this may clear your cravings for a little while.

I've only just started my weight-loss journey, so i'm really hoping i can stick to my plans! Good luck to everyone else! :)

ashleeyyy - ashley, you're a teen, so make sure you use a teen calculator and never eat less than 1500 calories.

If you're 5ft or taller, 90 pounds is underweight, and 95 is just nearly underweight as well (a BMI of 18.6, less than 18.5 is underweight).

You're 5'7, which means that your goals are drastically underweight, coming to a BMI of 14.1 (90) and 14.9 (95). Your current weight of 109 is also underweight, as well as your highest weight. Please don't do this to your body. This is about being healthy, not about harming your body, especially during this critical period of growth.

ETA: By my calculations, a weight of 120 - 155 would be more appropriate for your height.

ashleyyy- I agree with courtneylauren. Please talk to someone about your eating habits and your weight.

I just found this site recently, and I have not had too much time to read very many of the forums, but I have noticed inthe few I have read what seems to be alot of teens dieting (heavily) even though they are either at an ideal weight or underweight.  As a mom of 2 girls, this scares me to death!  I was always underweight growing up and desperately wanted to gain so that I would have curves. (Boy oh boy do I have them now Laughing) But it's ok, I'm a mother of 2 kids, I'm fast approaching 40, and I know not to have an expectation of 100 lbs on my 5'6 body.  It's too bad these girls aren't focusing in on eating healthy instead of eating to diet.  What are they setting their bodies up for inthe future.  They are wreaking havoc on their metabolism, which could in turn cause a life time battle of losing 10 lbs.  I graduated high school weighing 98 lbs, I was already 5'6, and I looked like I was fighting a terminal illness.  I was so excited to gain enough weight to fill out a pair of jeans!

Sorry for the ramble, but ashleyyy's post really hit a nerve.  ashleyyy, please talk to someone about the amount of weight you want to lose-- it really is not healthy.

stacimae - You sound like a wonderful mom and I couldn't agree with you more.

I find myself envying my boyfriend's sister (who is closer to my age than he is) because she's small and has curves but then I remember how she grew up hating her body because she too couldn't gain weight and didn't have a feminine shape.

Do know though, that there are plenty of adults on here who are trying to lose the weight the right way, so don't leave just yet! Cool
