stacimae - or she can just eat at maintenance for a few days to a week to jump start her metabolism.

last week: 188.6

today/this week: 186.6

i lost 2 despite saturday - i ate well until i went out to drink. i even ate some oatmeal beforehand so as not to get tempted, but then i ate a turkey sandwich, sweets (with rewarded me with achy teeth & tummy because i normally don't eat real sugar), and drank an entire large bottle of wine! some weeks, i'll eat at and/or below my CC intake and barely lose a pound, but the week i give myself a free-for-all, i lose 2? i haven't lost more than 1/1.5 since my first week of weight loss.

well anyway, 1.6 pounds until i get to 15lbs lost! that puts me at 5lbs to lose before my 21st on june 7th, and 15 overall!

congrats and good luck to everyone this week.

pavlocat- CONGRATS!!! That is so awesome!!

kismish- if you have reached a plateau, I learned fo a food that will breat the plateau.  If you combine tuna and tomato for several days, this will jump start your weight loss again.  It was a trick I learned from the dietician on my last diet.  It does work, but it will take 3-4 days of eating it to get it started.  Something about it being a chemical combination that will boost metabolism.  I really don't undersand how it works, I just know that it does.

hey thanks for the advice!!  question:  do i have tuna for lunch and dinner, or just one meal?  and how much tuna/tomato should i be having? (i usually buy the fresh sashimi grade as i HATE the canned stuff)

courtneylauren - thats awesome u dropped.  i remember you were saying you were eating under your target for a while.  maybe that you ate a little more, your metabolism kicked in again!  congrats!

kismish- it will work faster if you eat for lunch and dinner. But, since I HATE tuna, I could only bring myself to do it once a day and it took 4 days to work.  I'm not sure about quantities. I would make a low cal tuna salad and stuff one medium sized tomato.

I think it does help that i'm eating more and eating if i'm hungry even if it means going over my cals.

and thank you!

I forgot to weigh on Monday, so I weighed today.

BW:  152 lb

CW:  148.2 lbs

GW:  140 lbs

I did good today. I worked out and logged all my food. I set a mini-goal of 145 to break up the 10 lb loss to not seem so much. OK, that means 3.2 lbs to go. It is coming off very slowly, but I keep moving down.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

J-mom

I weighed myself again today and I dropped that .6 from yesterday, which means I'm down to 186 - 14 pounds lost, almost to my second goal of 180 - 20lbs lost by my 21st birthday!

that's great Courtney!!

=]

so happy for everyone who's dropped

for me,

too bad i've gained

binge on ice cream and Vietnamese food

><

is it possible to gain 4 lbs within 1 day?

or it's just water?!?

2-5 pound difference from morning to night is normal.

the viet food, especially if it was take out, most likely had a lot of salt in it.

Good Job courtneylauren and everyone else that survived the Easter weekend!

For all that did not do so well, today is a new day.

I agree with courtneylauren about the viet food. It was probably the salt intake, if it was restaurant food...

congrats everybody!  im glad everyone is doing so well.

topazie - no way in hell you gained 4 lbs of fat  in a day.  it will be a combo of the food still in your system, that your retaining water, and maybe a slight gain depending on how much you ate.

i havent weighed in today...have been sick the last several days..i tried to get ambitious and do some cardio today....suffice to say im now bed ridden after that attempt..lol.

i got really sick of the foods i was eating which was usually a hunk of protein with a little carbs and salads and tons of fruit. i always find north american food easier to handle when dieting but its hard to eat b/c im used to heavy heavy spices in my foods. i have been cooking unconventional "diet"  foods like paneer makhani (like butter chicken but using paneer) and oddly enough stayed within my calorie and fat intake for the day. im going to keep making indian food since it kind of wakes up the taste buds and if you control the oil/buter/cream in the foods yourself, it tastes just as good as restaurant but can fit it into your diet.

ok time to pass out in my bed again.  good luck everybody!

oommmggg! can you share the recipe of your paneer makhani??? pleaseeeee? that sounds SOOO GOOD <3 thanks!

as for me, i've lost 2.5 lbs when i last weighed on monday 13th (142.6 lbs). i think i will weigh tomorrow so i hope i get at least another .5 lb down! It would be nice to be 142.0 from 145 in 1.5 weeks

yay good luck tomorrow everyone

sure! hers the recipe (it serves 3)

1 tbsp melted butter

2 tsp ginger-garlic paste

1-3 green chili's, minced (1 if you dont want it too spicy, 3 if you like it hot)

1/4 tsp red chili powder (do not substitute with paprika)

1/2 tsp garam masala

1 big (black) cardamom

2 green cardamom

1 inch peice of cinnamon (stick)

1 bay leaf

3 large tomatoes, pureed (i used canned tomatoes, which are small romas, so i use about 6 small ones with a little juice, and i puree it)

1 tsp sugar

1/2 cup half and half

1 tbsp dried methi leaves (kasoori methi) <-- do not leave out..it makes the dish

about 250 g paneer, cut into cubes

i dont marinate the paneer in tikka spices like you would with butter chicken because the butter chicken sauce is so awesome, it doesnt need it to be honest.  plus it would add more calories which you dont want.  If you want to sub with chicken, use thighs (they are more moist, and marinate whatever amount you want with 1 tbsp lemon juice, however amount chili powder you can handle, 1/2 cup yogurt and 2 tsp tandoori masala powder and about 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste -- then broil in the oven until done)

1. heat the butter and fry both cardamoms, bay leaf and cinnamon stick until the bay leaf changes to a brown color.

2. add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilis and fry for 30 seconds

3. add the tomato sauce, red chili powder and the garam masala and enough salt to your own taste.  when the sauce comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 7-10 mins until it thickens slightly

4. add the sugar, methi leaves and cook a couple more minutes

6. add the paneer and mix well but make sure you mix lightly so the paneer doesnt break

7. add the half and half, let it come to a boil, taste it and adjust salt or spices.  remember, whenever you add something, allow it to come to a boil first before turning off the heat

8.  eat it! its good over rice or eat with naan (i use whole wheat pita bread to control calorie consumption)

oh ya and im weighing in today at 121 - same as last week.  muscle gain is my conclusion b/c my clothes fit better than it did a week or 2 ago.  im feeling a little more "tight" and less giggly too.

Hey all, congratulations to those who have lost and to those who haven't or have stayed the same...keep up the good work and don't give up!!!

I am weighing in at 154lbs, a loss of another pound :-). This means that i've finally hit my 11st benchmark which has made me happy even though it's just a pound. I'm teetering on the edge of 11st though so i'm not clear yet. Once i've dropped the next couple of pounds i'll be able to breath easier. It could go either way next week as i find i start to plateau at 11st.

I've started to cycle in the gym twice a week which is helping. Tuesday i cycled 32 kilometres and yesterday i managed 35k, averaging 650Kcal each time! It takes about 1h30mins but i find it more enjoyable than running.

TTFN X

After several weeks of 1 pound loss per week, the scale was nice to me this morning. My weight is 163, a loss of 3 pounds Smile.

I am so impressed about the exercise level of some of you. I must say that even after exercising for several weeks now, 4 to 5 times a week, I still hate it, and find a million excuses...

Also my exercise routine is not intense. I have back problems, so I do stretches, walk for 1 mile and lift some light weights.

krazykim - great weight loss.  i love spinning but i do classes.  do you check your burn on the bike?  i wa surprised when i got a heart rate monitor that was burning ~450 cals for a 45 min class... be careful on the readouts on the machines they either over or underestimate...they have neverrr been accurate for me.

amcm - wow 3 pounds is awesome :) and i do workout like almost everyday of the week....i dont enjoy it...i find it a means to an end and something that i have to do if i want something, which is being healthy

down from 120 to 117! 7 pounds to go! my only obstacle seems to be late-night eating, which i am trying to curb by keeping crunchy raw veggies in the fridge.

GOOD ADVICE FOR ANYONE: If you know you're doing well, stick to it no matter what the scales say

Thanks Kishmish.

Ok, i was feeling great all weekend then went off the rails a bit and had a binge this morning. Feeling a bit mad at myself, but glad it happened this morning and not this evening as i've had all day to work the damage off. I find a morning binge much easier to deal with than an evening one, as in the evening i've already eaten my calories and the binge counts on top of that!

Hoping that as i've restricted the rest of today it has balanced the binge out. I'm not eating after 5pm today as i am going to the gym for another 35K bike ride at 7pm and i'm still full from this morning. I checked out how much damage i'd done by the binge this morning and i've packed away 1950Kcals in total for the day!!! My limit is 1500Kcal.

Dear god.....

The bike ride will take off approx 650kcals, so that should balance me out more.

Feeling quite sick, bloated and uncomfortable but i'll feel so much better after working off the damage in the gym.

Anyone else on here who has periods of bingeing, but restricts the next day or stays in the gym until the calories are burnt off to counterbalance any damage?

I sometimes feel so hungry that i eat loads and don't feel full, then it'll suddenly hit me and i stop, but by then i feel so horrible and guilty for what i've eaten that i have to get it all out of my body by working it off or using those extra calories towards my intake for the next day.

Just wondering if anyone else feels like this at times? It's not every day but has been happening for years. I haven't asked my friends if it happens to them as i don't want them to think im weird. Am i weird or is this something that happens to everyone? I can't be the only person in the world to do this, but i do feel quite alone with it. Would be good to know i'm not alone. X
