i'm doing an experiment to see how much water my body can retain, in order to see how much my weight fluctuates. i'm doing this so i'll know that when the scale shows gain, i can tell if it's water weight or actual weight, and so i won't freak out. so basically i'm trying to find out how much water weight i can gain overnight or over the course of a day.
does anybody have any suggestions as to how i'd find this out? like, what kind of foods to eat, what to drink/what not to drink in order to retain water. & at what time of the day. sorry that this is kind of a weird experiment, but i really want to see what my range is.
if anyone can help, thanks :)
To retain water, eat lots of salty foods, especially salty carby foods.
By the way, I don't recommend doing this without a doctor's supervision. You can screw yourself up if you go too far.
how far is too far? i'm just planning on doing this for one day, it's not like i'm going to consume pounds of salt haha. i'm not going to go to major extremes or anything.
also about the salty foods.. how long does it take for my body to retain water after i've eaten it? like how many hours after i eat should i weigh myself?
I agree. Before trying any experiments on yourself, first consult with a doctor. While it may only be for a day, you could do possible damage.
If you weigh yourself throughout the day, your scale will generally go up as your body is retaining food and water regardless of the amount of salty (or high sodium) foods that you consume.
Again, please consult with your doctor before trying anything. Calorie Count Plus's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management.
