Welcome to the **May** Challenge!

 If you’ve participated before, welcome back for another month!  To all those who have not done this challenge (or any other) welcome aboard newbies!

The challenge is pretty easy & does NOT require a long term commitment.  You pick a goal weight, and post your progress each week.  You are NOT in competition with the other challengers—in fact, you are encouraged to cheer each other on.  This is about having a reason to stay motivated throughout the month’s weight loss journey and having a place to post your progress to help you stay on track--some "extra" accountability for your actions because you know you aren't the only one who will "see" the results.

We'll have 5 weekly weigh in's in May.  Our May 3, 2009 weigh in will serve as a base-line and our final weigh will be May 31, 2009.  SO, monthly weigh in dates are May 3, May 10, May 17, May 24 and May 31, 2009.

I realize weigh in days are on a Sunday.  This is deliberate--for those who don’t like to weigh in on the weekend--look at it this way--extra motivation to stay on track over those “days off!”   I will post results on Monday—I will NOT email you to remind you to post.

I'm not sure whether to post as 151lbs or not to be honest.
I'm at my boyfriends place and his scales generally say I'm around 2 pounds heavier than what mine say.
But they're all I have at the moment so oh well.

My laptop died and I didn't actually remember my About.com member password as it was allocated to me so I never could remember it...
And I had simply told my laptop to "remember it" and now when I try to say I've lost my password on the main page, it wont load so...

AKgrl, what is your new game plan? Care to share? Wink What tips do you have for the changes.

Mishief...am not nearly as experienced or "organized" a calorie counter as many who use this site, in fact, I'm really kind of a "newbie"...I think your calorie ratio intake plan sounds intriguing (know it's important to balance our intake, but that's about as far as I've taken it).  I tend to be a bit more basic in my approach...more calories burned, fewer calories consumed.  HOWEVER, despite the debate over whether time of day has anything to do with how effective a calorie burn is, I'm planning to add some of my exercise in first thing in the morning; right now I do most of it in the evenings.  I know you can find an expert who says almost anything, but I was reading a piece in the March (?) Women's Day magazine and one of the cardiologists in the article felt that morning exercise can help burn calories more efficiently all day.  That sounds "right" to me--burn a few hundred calories & get a jump start on the day!  It may all be in my head...but if I BELIEVE a.m. exercise will promote more (more efficient) calorie burn, then it will...if nothing else, my belief may subconconsciously help modify my behavior through out the day (to be more active, more resistant to temptation).  Scientifically speaking, it shouldn't matter when you burn off a calorie...it still takes 3500 burned to equal a one pound weight loss.  Practically speaking, if I'm only burning more calories because I added an a.m. exercise session, that will still help me achieve my goals!

Have to climb down off my soapbox now (does that count as exercise?)--there's a recument bike & a Universal machine at the gym that are calling out my nameLaughing
