So, yes, many of you know me by now, mainly cos I always ask around about getting the period back after recovering from an ED.

Im happy to announce that Ive kept gaining weight and what not, and look much better...Im still adjusting to my "new" look, and I accept food a lot more than I did before, so Im really happy about that.

 So yea, about the period...

lol (yea I know Im a pain in the butt!!)

a few days ago, I got really sore nipples...and they looked quite bigger as well...breast sort of felt more tender, and hurt just a tiny bit, but nothing like I used to back when I had my regular periods....also I noticed the other day a lot of movement down there...and the typical discharge that looks like eggwhite (that lasted like...mmm say 1 or 2 days? roughly)...

I was just wondering...could I be expecting my period soon? or is it maybe just hormonal imbalances or something of the sort?

Im really so ansy about getting the period back and anything just makes me so hopeful..that if I dont get it back soon Ill prolly start crying again lol I wanna have babies!!! :( lol

 what do you guys think???

(havent had my period in 6 months now....)

Probably, but I don't really know. I lost my period for about 6+ months (no idea why, it was pretty random), and it just sort of surprised me one day!

oh lol

lucky you :P

did you get any of the typical pms?

my gyno prescribed me provera for 5 days, and I took it and had a period that lasted about 7 days...exactly the amount of days that my old regular periods used to last..but Im sure I didnt ovulate.....but now with the whole sore nipples thing (that is slowly going away :( ) im starting to lose hope...and that makes me really upset...but yeah...maybe I just need to wait it out a bit and maybe it is my period...dunno...*sigh*

thanks for answering

i'm no expert but i would say if you are noticing signs like change in discharge or sore breasts its probably a good sign! i also remember reading about change in color of discharge when you begin ovulating ( i'm sure it varies from person to person) but like i said most likely a good sign. whatever you're doin honey  i think its workin! keep on fuelling that body! you'll be in baby-making condition  in no time soon :)

yea :) I hope so

its mostly the sore nipple thing that got my hopes high...basicly cos a lot of people experience sore nipples a week before their period....hopefully this is my case as well..either way, I  had some hormone tests done and they all came back normal...so my nutrionist (who's husband is a gyno) said to me that as soon as I put on back weight (That my body needed desperately) my period would come back...

right now im 108 at 5'4''

I know that for some of you its still very low...to me its quite normal cos I always weight around 115...112, and so on...yea its the lowest Ive been yet...but if I am getting all this stuff now Im guessing its my period....if not ill keep gaining to see what happens

I think it's definitely a good sign! Especially the discharge.  I didn't know this until not too long ago, but you can actually track a woman's cycle by watching her vaginal discharge.  When you are most "fertile" (ie when you are about to ovulate) it gets clear, slippery, and stretchy--just like egg whites.  So if you're experiencing that, maybe it means you're ovulating.  But I think the amount of time between ovulation and menstruation is like 12-16 days, so wait and see if it comes then!

By the way, I learned SOOO much about women's hormonal cycles by reading a book called "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Tony Weschler--highly recommended!  I learned, for instance, that if you take your temperature first thing in the morning before you move or anything, and chart the temperature throughout the month, you can see a sharp increase in temperature right at the time you ovulate.  Then, when menstruation starts, it goes back down.  I never knew that before, but it is sooo useful--if I chart my temperature, I can predict within a day or two exactly when my period will come!  (Useful for me, because mine's so irregular.)  So you may want to check that book out.

Good luck!

The body is an amazing thing...we all do things that are unhealthly for us. Thankfully our bodys finds a way to adapt, do to your ED yours is working hard to take care of YOU...your body knows that you are lacking, getting pregnant would be too hard on your system. Now that you are eating healthly your body will start givig back what has been lost (your period). Think of it this way take care of your body and it will take care of you...it sounds like you are well on the road to getting your period. I wish you happiness and I hope that you are blessed with many babies. Be aware of the discharge, for me that is a sure sign of ovulation.

well now im just concerned....last week i got the pains and stuff on my nipples hehe (sorry!) and well now this week i thought that if anything id be getting my period right??? well it hasnt come back...just today I got like some cramps and stuff but no period....my breast dont hurt anymore either...i dunno....Im like losing hopes and thats really discouraging...and I seriously just want to have it back already.......why else would my nipples hurt and why would I feel all that movement down there?? I cant be pregnant cos I havent been ovulating....:( ugh the frustration
Have you taken a pregnancy test?

well, no I really havent, but how could I possibly be pregnant with no ovulation?? :S I mean...I havent had a period in 6 months because I havent been ovulating...

:( Im so upset..I get really nervous about this whole infertility thing...my biggest fear is it becoming permanent.... :(

BANANEE-
wow----was reading through this and simply H-A-D to reply because it is soo much a mirror image of ME this past week!
I have been struggling with anorexia for several years and in Sept. finally decide "ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH" and that I was worth MORE than that! I hadn't gotten my period in 2 1/2 to 3 yrs. so I KNEW it wouldn't be "instant"---
anyway--about a MONTH ago---I started getting some "clues/signs" that something might be working down there,...but didn't really get a "PERIOD" just a few of the symptoms,..ya know? mainly discharge, bloat, etc. ( i know i know,...yuck )
SO---then LAST week I EXPERIENCED EXACTLY the things you described,....My breasts were more sore than usual, yet LESS sore than when I USED to have a reg. period,..ya know? (it's also a plus that they seemed LARGER...and beeing that I am LESS than an A that is a good thing!)------NEXT---I got an egg-white like discharge----so I started bein' like REALLY EXCITED cause I had heard that those are all really good signs!---well 2 days came and went----I had ALL of those symptoms AND the bloating--as well as a head-ache which is a CLASSIS period symptom for me *don't know why* but i remember that i used to always get them around that time. SO---i let myself get discouraged cause I wasn't getting a period and then WHAMMO---woke up this a.m. and ----TAAA-DAAAHHH-----yup! I HAD IT!!
I too am in the stages of anorexia recovery where I am beginning to learn to LOVE my body again,,.and I am able to have a much better relationship with food. I know I am not THERE yet---and still have a ways to go ( 89 lb....5ft 1in')-----but I am happy with the strides i have made THUS FAR :) I used to be 82 lb.
ANYWAY! I'm sorry this was LONG and WORDY but I wanted to send some encouragement your way! It's nice to know someone else is OUT THERE fighting too!   Much Love darlin'!
keep up the great work! :)
remember, you're worth it :)

it is possible for you to ovulate before you start  a period, which is why some women get pregnant while they are breast feeding. They think because they don't have a period they can't get pregnant...it happens.

well..I rather it be a period hehe

aw lileberly...hehe congrats on getting it back :) I wish I were as lucky as to get mine too....I feel really awful right now....for some reason everyday I get even m ore discouraged....and Im hating the thought of having to gain more weight hehe....I know having those thoughts are a bad thing, but I Really cant help it, because this whole period thing is really consuming all my energies....Ive gained a healthy amount of weight, and by now I would've expected to get the period back, specially after having all those signs (which have gone away, really...tho my breast are defenetly bigger and I believe that more tender)

Today ive eaten like 2,400 cals lol I did good today, except that I bought some cookies for my boyfriend and ended up eating some with him lol so I exceeded my cals lol but Ill work on it..I have to control this binges!! tomorrow Im having dinner with his mom and here in Spain they have like.....3 meals in one sitting lol so we'll see how that goes...

wish me luck on my period :( hopefully it'll be paying me a visit soon *crosses fingers*

hehehe, I've never heard of anyone being so excited to get her period before! Tongue out

It does sound as though it's on it's way with all the signs you have described, so just be patient and let nature do it's work.  Sometimes waiting around for it to arrive is the hardest part, but don't worry--it sounds like it will be arriving soon & then you will feel the joys of that time-of-the-month again.  Just teasing, I know what it's like to recover from E.D. & getting your period again means your body is functioning properly, so congrats on your recovery!

wow!  my heart goes out to you bananee.....at one time i thought i was never going to have babies.  i wanted children soooo much.  after seeing a really good, knowledgable ob-gyn (whom i will forever be grateful to), he discovered i had some "abnormalities" in the uterus and cervix.  he fixed part of the problem but was unable to completely fix me right again.  anyway, i was really stressing because i wasn't able to get pregnant.  a year after my surgery, i went back to see him and his first question to me was "why are you not pregnant yet?"  well DUH!  i don't know.  he told me that the mind and body play strange tricks on you.  he told me to go home and to quit stressing and to stop focusing on what i wanted so much to happen.  i had always had irregular periods before i become pregnant....i never knew when they would come!  it used to really irritate me.  anyway, i did just what he said.  i stopped focusing on what my body wasn't doing.  within 3 months i was pregnant.  i think alot of times the stress from wanting something so badly actually causes your body to do the opposite.  i know that sounds weird, but regardless of all that, it does sound like your body is trying to get itself back into good working order.  the signs do point that way.  and i never knew that about the egg-white and ovulating part!!!  NOW i know why that happens sometimes!!!  47 and still learning new things!  anyway bananee, keep focusing on the good things that are happening to you!  I'm very proud of you for taking a stand and fighting to get your life back!  and i wish you all the best in being able to have babies.  mine are 14 and 8, and i only wish i could have more.  they are my greatest accomplishments!  good luck sweetie!

I got my period back!!!!! yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! :D:D:D

got it back yesterday night! hahaha I scared the living hell out of my boyfriend haha we just came back from celebrating his little sister's win in a gymnastics championship here in spain...and I had to go tinkle so badly since a long time ago...that entire day I had little cramps here and there and a lot of intestinal discomfort...much like the ones I used to have whenever my period was just about to start...but I would go to the bathroom and nothing....anyway...we came home exhausted....and when I pulled my undies down VOILA!!!! haha! you can just imagine how happy I got when I saw it...I screamed on the top of my lungs lol and my boyfriend came running to the bathroom scared to death haha

gosh I dont think ive ever been so happy before :D

thank you all for your support!!! I can have babies now hahaha :D anyway

Im still underweight (108 lbs) but I guess my body feels about normal again :) which makes me really happy!

yayyy! :D

oh! I SO identify w/ that excitement of actually WANTING to get it! I'm so happy for you....and so jealous:( I've had those symptoms (the discharge, heavy headaches, bloating) off and on for two years and always think maybe this is it!....nope.  Always been thin but gained a little weight in college and I'm now at a healthyw eight...but nope---very sad:( Birth control for me only covers up the problem--I want babies too!(SOME day haha)
lol...congrats sweetie!  you are well on your way now!!!  good luck!
