Maypo

Has anyone ever had Maypo hot cereal? I used to eat it as a kid and I picked up a box for my daughters last night. They turned their picky noses up at it this morning, but to me it was just as good as I remembered. 1/3 cup dry makes a HUGE bowl. 180 calories, very little sugar and a decent amount of fiber. Mostly oats and cracked rye.

This is the less sugar version...2/3 less sugar or something like that. Certainly less sweet than most instant maple oatmeals

wow, no one has had Maypo? Or at least a stong enough opinion of it to comment... Perhaps it is a regional thing - New England.

zinniah, I remember maypo...what a good memory.  I haven't had it since I was little in NE.  I'm going to look for it again...perfect cold winter morning cereal.  I've been eating oatmeal or chocolate malt o meal every morning cuz hot cereal fills me up until lunch so this will an alternative to those.  Thanks for the memory!

What is this thing you call Maypo??   Zin, I've actually never heard of it but would like to give it a try!  I'll try to find some.

Zinniah, I also remeber maypo from my early years in Michigan.  I have not seen it for sale for at least 20 years. If anyone knows where to find it, let me know  at jhyrman@hotmail.com

Oh yes.. I heard of this cereal.. and LOVE it!  I used to buy it at my local store, but it has since been discontinued?  My kids thought it was just "OK" they were not huge fans of it.  I guess they just dont know whats good!  Does anyone know where it can be purchased in the OC So-Cal area?  A few years back, it used to be available at STATER BROS. market. 

Maypo is WONDERUL and my children love it!  I usually buy it from hometownfavorites.com for about $4.00 per box.
