I heard on the radio this morning that a private plane from Alaska landed in Ohio today ahead of John McCain's announcement of his VP choice.

Speculation abounds that he may have chosen Sarah Palin, first term governor of Alaska (kind of a female republican equivalent to Tim Kaine of VA AND she's best known for supporting drilling in ANWR.)

Boy wouldn't that mix things up!

Some people are still saying they think it will be Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.

We don't have to wait long to find out, eh?

I was agreeing with you that Sarah Palin helps McCain with the conservative Christian base.

Your cheerful retort of "i won't be sinking to insults though, so cheers to you buddy!"   also means nothing   since it was following the previous sentence of "sorry you couldn't put that together for yourself".  Insinuating a lack of intelligence on my part.  So thanks for the disengenuine backhanded non-appolligy.

disingenuous... non-apology

I always like how people who realize that they're wrong about something just change the subject.  It's most amusing.

you are an expert at it, Nomo,  we can only aspire to your level of excellence,
I think appealing to the conservative Christian base, and picking up some pro-Hillary supporters is exactly why the Republicans chose Sarah Palin. Moose hunter, moose eater, yuk!
I was making the point the pro-life stance helps,   I said nothing about creationism, you twisted my words, I called you on it, you deny it and say its my fault that I misunderstood your post. Then deal some backhanded snarky remark or an insult and then end it with a smiley face, you do it all the time, and not just to me.

Ive never eaten Moose,  though I have had delicious buffalo burgers and I regularly serve venison in my house. Yummy and healthy!

Hugely interesting...

Well, more so now than ever I will vote for Obama. I can not vote for pro-life and pro-creationism, just can't do it. The more candidates pander to the Christian right the more I stay away from them.

I have to say, I think she's an extremely impressive woman, her support of creationism-as-science notwithstanding.  She may have said that because that's what voters wanted to hear and being shrewd, she said it.

Doubt I'd want her to be 'a heartbeat away from the presidency' based on just the few brief articles I found this morning.  But I definitely want to hear from her before I make that judgment -- I will be looking forward to hearing more from and about her.

Hoolie, I have never seen anyone get so upset from being agreed with.  How 'bout, lighten up!  How 'bout, don't take things so seriously or people will just be laughing at you?  Ring any bells?  I am sorry if you wish she didn't agree with teaching creationism as science, but apparently she does.  Why you should be upset with me for sharing this factual information, that's not my problem. I was agreeing with you that she helps McCain with conservative Christians.  From my point of view, forcing your religion on other people is all the same, so I don't see Creationism in science class as that much different, philosophically, from passing laws about my uterus.  Obviously you do and that is a little surprising to me, but certainly nothing I'd get upset over.

I didn't take your statement that narrowly.  I took it as Sarah Palin helps with Christian conservatives.

Why is this so upsetting for you?

Moose is yummy.  I always like variety with my meat.  I guess that means she won't get the vegan vote.  hehe
I have already finished explaining my issue, sorry you couldn't put that together for yourself. have a nice day.
My last comment is, I am thrilled about MCCain's VP pick, I am glad he didnt go the "safe" route and pick another old white southern guy (even i am tired of them). We should all be proud that no matter who wins, it will be a historic result.

This is a very interesting pick.  This whole race is.  I never had any doubt it would be this time around.

Chill, people - please - it's a three day weekend!  Cool

Anywho...

Anyone else find the timing of the announcement interesting?  How much of the spotlight is going to diverted?

*shrug*

Haven't tried moose, but I do buy buffalo at the farmers market in greensboro. If moose is like that, I would like it.  Sometimes I can get some venison from the husband of a colleague who hunts (deer are way overpopulated around here - I see about 20 deer minimum every evening when I leave work) and I like it OK.  It's nice to get free meat.  Smile

I guess the vegan vote is up for grabs because I'm pretty sure all of the candidates are omnivores (don't know for certain about Biden).

That was certainly the intention of the McCain camp.  To put a damper on Obama's news coverage with the timing of their news.

winning the news cycles = winning the election, they say

Very interesting choice, on both parts for VP, for me at least.

Either way this turns out we will either have the first African American president or first female VP. We will see something historic happen and that's got to beat the infamous hanging chads by a LONG way!!!!

I'm now curious to see how all of the spin will now begin from both camps!

I've eaten wild rabbit, elk, moose, deer, buffalo, aligator, antelope, raccoon, squirrel, black bear, and escargot.

True, but the women hunts them herself!  Haha.  I love it.
