So i was looking at the nutritional info on the Mc Donalds website today. Guess what i found out, the meals over here in the uk are lower calories!
E.g (the number on the left is uk calories the number on the right is usa)
Quarter pouder with cheese 500 510
Big Mac 495 540
Large Fries 470 570
Med Fries 340 380
Small 235 250
I assume this is down to portion size but i just found it quite interesting

It is, and means that Americans on here should watch that they are not underestimating and Britains should watch that we are not overestimating, particularly when there is a significant difference like on the large fries (best avoid them all together I reckon!!) :o)
I've noticed the same for crisps, one bag on here is generally 50g and around 190 calories where as our standard bags are 35g and therefore in the region of 130 calories.
Do you know I live literally next door to a Mc Donalds and never have eaten there? MY husband and I live in a condo, if I look out my bathroom window there it is, and I get so grossed out, sometimes I can smell it, ick! In the past years ago whenever I did eat there, I would get so sick my husband would get awful stomach pains, and I'd get a migrane. That is one place, I refuse to ever eat!
Yes eveerything here is smaller and more expensive. I dont eat at McDonalds as im veggie and have no desire to eat crap food but i know occassionally when with friends one of thsoe meals with a buger, fries and drink is about £4, thats over $6.
If you want a real shocker compare the biggest american pizza and the biggest English. An extra large here would be max 15" ive seen american pizzas twice that size. No wonder portion control/understanding is so worrped in peoples heads, they think that what they are served is a portion.

Speaking for the Americans - Everything is huge here, even the people obviously. You know the powers that be refer to the high level of obesity in America as an epidemic - like it's a disease!
I try to remember when I go out to eat (not at McDonald's) that I am provided with twice as much food as I actually need to eat at a meal and that it's ok to just eat half of it. I also have started throwing food away instead of getting a to-go box. If I have indulged once, I certainly don't need to be tempted to do so again the next day (or at midnight when hunger strikes) as the case may be.

I'm not American but I studied there, and I remember to this day the first time I went to a supermarket. All the containers were huge! So huge that my mother and I were both commenting on it! Plus everything is so much more fattening. You have to fold the pizzas in half and wait for the fat to drizzle... Needless to say in my first six months there I gained 15 kilos!
