mcdonalds mistake?

Quote  |  Reply
I was looking on mcdonalds website to see if their asian grilled chicken salad dressing had any high froctuse corn syrup in it, and it said it did. I have the same exact dressing here at home and it says it doesn't have any. I also have the little packet that comes from McDonalds and it says it doesn't contain any either. Is this just a mistake on the McDonald's website? The dressing is Newman's Own Low Fat Sesame Ginger Dressing. How do you feel about McDonald's Asian grilled chicken salad? Do you think it's healthy? Thanks!

I think it's healthy, provided you get it with the grilled chicken, and without the dressing.
a little paket may not contain enough that it has to be declared. Othen on food if you read the breakdown per 100g things show as trace but on a whole packet or a serving there may be a much larger amount and therefore be listed. does that make sense.
yeah, ha but I still don't understand why they have it on the website but don't have it on the little packet. The information on the website is for the little packet. Do you think it has high froctuse corn syrup in it?
Kae - I am sure it's frustrating to have two different sources and answer, but if I had to GUESS, based on the name of the dressing, I would say absolutely "yes", it has HFCS.

Two reasons:

"Low Fat" - you can almost guarantee processed, packaged foods with these words have replaced the fats with sugars.

"Sesame Ginger" - it's probably a sweet dressing. Even if there's not HFCS in, there's almost certainly a lot of sugar.

Sorry!
They could have simply changed formulas. If they started out with an initial product but had difficulty or a high cost to producing it they may change it to suit the company. Since HFCS is cheaper they may have changed it to include it for cost. You may have a previous 'batch' of product.

But like everyone else says, it probably has quite a bit of sugar. Everything in moderation.
Just eat the damn salad and quit stressing its one small packet of dressing and one salad its not going to kill you...........
LOVE THAT SALAD - It is a treat for me when I eat out for lunch - I almost always get a Grilled Chicken Asian Salad - Mmmmmm!
Are we honestly trying to hold an honest debate about the nutritional merits of eating at McDonald's? Please people. This is a no brainer, right?
The choice to eat or not eat processed foods is important to some people.   One small packet MAY not be enough to kill you, but frankly I'd rather not have it in my body either.   If you add up ALL of the products that you eat throughout the day that contained just "little" bits of this processed junk, you're consuming a lot more of it than you think.

That said, I'm not sure which is accurate kae.  Write the company and ask.  In the meantime, don't eat the dressing or bring some packets along that you know don't have HFCS.

"mcdonalds mistake?"

MCDonalds is always a mistake, it doesn't matter how much you study their food it just plain sucks to the core. It's plain crap, EVERYTHING they offer! Don't eat there! Never!

People will eat what they want to eat. They come here for support. If you're not going to give it to them, then don't bother wasting your time and replying.

Quite frankly, when you're on the go, I don't see anything wrong with picking up a salad and yes EATING the dressing. It's not as if the salad is deep-fried, too.

Seriously, people, give the girl a break.

P.S. I know she asked if you thought it was healthy, but wouldn't a simple "No, I do not believe it is healthy" work just as well as what some of you have said?

I totally agree! i hate when people get off the topics of what we are asking and get all like welll DUH!! im glad someone else agrees :)

Some of the "no processed" righteousness can get SO annoying.

When it's 9pm and I'm just heading home after work (or hopefully, work AND a workout) facing a 1.5 hour train ride, so it will be 10:30 when I get home, and I haven't had dinner, McDonald's is literally the only freakin' choice I have.   At some times of the year, that will happen at some point during a week.  No tellig when, so it's not something I can plan for.  In that situation, I will most certainly have an Asian grilled chicken salad with the salad dressing.  Not eating would be far worse than having a bit of processed salad dressing which may or may not have a trace amount of high fructose corn syrup.
