McDonald's New "We're Heathier Than You" Ad Campaign

Have you seem this?

http://www.mcdonalds.com/usa/eat/quality0/com parisons.html

I'm really riled up about this - such deceptive advertising. They're comparing apples to potato chips! Low-fat milk to sugary drink mixes - nope, I don't feed my kids that.

And 4 chicken nuggets vs. a whole sandwhich with 2 slices of bread?

Let's compare:

4 piece nuggets:  64 g of food  total

vs.

Ham sandwhich (2 slices of bread at 28 g each = 56 grams +
2 slices of ham at 28 g each = 56 grams) 112 grams total food

The sandwhich is nearly TWICE as much food as the nuggets.

The accurate comparison would be HALF a sandwhich to 4 nuggets.

And I wonder how their Mighty Kids Meal double cheeseburger and fries compares?

The sad thing is, a lot of people will just see the big pictures and bold print and believe it.

eeeevvviiillll, soul-less marketers....

Dunno, Healthy and McDonalds just don't seem to go together in my mind :)

Sing along...

Ding fries are done, Ding fries are done... Would you like some fries with that, would you like some fries with that...
Cute...

Not particularly surprising, though :p

And you KNOW people will fall for it :p
Because they'll WANT to!
McDonald's is tasty, if not good for you :p
Well, I sent a e-mail complaining about their deceptive marketing technique.

You can email McD's marketing here: http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.custs at.custsat_form_marketing.html

I think it is lying and it is wrong.
I agree with you secret and *heavy sigh* why am I not surprised?

But they lost me as a customer a long time ago... deceptive tricks like that won't win me back....

I like real, actual, whole food.  :D

Not industrial, processed, food-like matter.  :(
I input the ham sandwhich 'meal' into my food log for the heck of it and came out with this.. @ 518 calories with a B grade.

Fat - 31.6% (18 grams)
Protein - 11.8% (15 grams)
Carbohydrates - 56.6% (74 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%

Daily Sodium Intake - 1,285 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 33 mg
Daily Fiber Intake - 3 grams

I'm not overly concerned about my kids calories (although I am anal about his weight/health) but to me, giving my kid fruit punch, white bread AND chips for lunch... I might as well let him eat a freaking happy meal cause that'd be a treat! I think perhaps the parents that would give their kids the ham sandwhich meal are likey feeding their kids McDonalds anyway :/
oh my gosh that is so stupid.

4 little nuggets is like, you could eat that in 4 bites if you wanted to .

PLUS they're probably making that ham sandwich out of the most unhealthy things and then counting up the calories like

"super processed white bread"
"tons and tons of mayonaise"
"super fatty fatty ham"

uh they're such idiots sometimes they try to make themselves look SO HEALTHY like with their little "Fresh" menu with fajitas and salads and even with their deli sandwiches, but really they're not healthy at all.

honestly, i make them, and they're so gross.
oh come on even their salads are fat filled
Gr.
I'd send an email, but need to be a US resident.  And I haven't found an equivalent add on the Canadian site.
That is really, really dumb... and what's even dumber is that some people will believe it.

On the lighter side. McDonalds must really be losing customers to pump that sh*t out.
The one by my uni is for sure, now on the same road, pretty much side by side is a Dominoes, KFC, Mc D's and Subway. And i know which one is always packed!
Have you got a link to this ad?
You gotta watch Super Size Me before you eat any fast food again! What an eye opener!

The most disgusting thing was when they guy put an order of french fries in a glass jar....for 10 weeks! They never got moldy! They didn't get soft or anything. Imagine what it does in your body...gross!

Once you know what is in that stuff, and realize it isn't even food, I think it is easier to walk away from.
While everyone places so much blame on McDonald's and the like... I think it's the parents responsibility to decide what food gets put into their children's bodies. You can't put all the blame on them. Americans just have a problem taking responsibility and saying "yeah, I ate too much fast food and gained weight". Everyone loves a scapegoat. It's just like the tobacco corporations. Everyone knows smoking is bad... so how can you sue when you get lung cancer?
Hmmm, so you blame the drug users or the drug pushers?

Obviously if people didn't eat the stuff, they wouldn't make money off it and would go out of business, however, if they didn't sell the stuff people wouldn't eat it.

What a McDelima!
I think Mcdonalds as an occasional treat is ok, not the end of the world
Ads like these annoy me too!

What some people will come away with is that the only thing you need to look at is calories and fat. What ever happened to looking at real food, and vitamins and minerals?
My kids like burgers barbequed at home better than McDonald's. Which makes me very happy, because I hate their food. lol

Besides, if I can at all avoid feeding my 4 year old 60g of fat in one meal, I'm all for it.
vaguy--

Sure... if it wasn't there people wouldn't eat it... but there'd be something else that would cause people to be unhealthy and they'd blame it on the sellers. People who sell drugs aren't FORCING people to buy it just like McDonald's/all fast food restaurants aren't FORCING people to buy their unhealthy/greasy/nutritionally devoid food.

People need to start accepting responsibility for the choices they make and quit blaming it on everyone else.
But food is as additive to some people as drugs are... It's probably not just so easy for either to just say "oh, it's my fault I should stop doing this".

I think we should do what we can to keep people from making money off of us by selling us bad stuff.

We should all get together and throw all of those BigMacs and Fries in Boston Harbor and have a Tea Party :)
