Can i have 4-5 mcvities a day?

Hi ,

I am actually eating healthy these days:)
 

Not starving and actually eating small meals so as to lose weight.

 

i wanted to know if i eat 4-5 Mcvities with my tea is it fine?( i either eat the hob nobs or the short cake ones)

 

any inputs would be great

Just to qualify for US readers: Mcvities is a brand of biscuits/cookies in the UK.

Wouldn't 4-5 hob nobs run about the 320-400 calorie mark? That seems like an extreme number of calories to be eating in biscuits alone!  What is your total calorie intake per day?  Personally I'd restrict to 1-2 biscuits per day, otherwise you may be endangering your chance of eating a healthy varied diet. 

If your question was 'can i eat McVities and still lose weight' then yes, you could eat all potato chips or all chocolate all day long and lose weight as long as you have a calorie deficit, but you probably wouldn't be so healthy!

I tend to agree.  4-5 biscuits a day seems like a lot (especially if they're all in one sitting).  1 or 2 McVities per day would be fine though.

meh, I'll go against the grain and say 'it depends'

I eat close to 2000 calories a day on workout days, so having a 300 calorie 'junk snack' isn't out of the question (not everyday, but twice a week or so.)

Some use the 80/20 rule: 80% of calories should be from good nutrient rich foods, 20% from not so nutritious stuff. Personally, I reserve 200-300 calories a day for the 'not so good stuff' (17% of my typical 1800 cals a day). It's usually split up throughout the day: a white starch with dinner, a piece of dark chocolate, etc.

So I would say it depends on how many calories you eat, and what you eat the rest of the day. If its the only non-nutritious food you eat, and you eat 1200+ cals a day of good stuff, then if it works for you, who cares?

i need to have around 1500calories a day. i eat lots of fruits and vegetables.but am confused as to what to eat with tea.

since i am usually hungry around breakfast time and evening tea time..

maybe i should just have 2 mcvities...any other good healthy options guys..

 

also i swim for half an hour 4-5 times a week

Really?  The hobnobs I buy are 70 calories per biscuit.  That might be why 4-5 of them seemed like such a lot to me (if I'm thinking of biscuits that are twice as big).
