I am on a 1700 calorie diet. I am looking for meal ideas under 400 calories, any suggestions?

I am also a snacker, any suggestions for snacks under 200 calories?

thanks!

3-4 oz of a meat (chicken breast, fish, very lean beef) with a side or two of steamed or raw veggies, followed by fruit or yogurt.

Whole wheat pasta with a vegetable marinara and just a dusting of cheese.

Homemade soups of just about any kind (stay away from real cream soups) or "tweaked" canned soups like adding extra water, carrots, celery, and onion to Campbell's chicken noodle.

Make substitutions in your favorite recipes -- like upping the beans in your chili and using a leaner meat or tofu instead of beef.  Low-fat or fat-free cheeses instead of the regular kind.

Snacks: I like my oat bran muffins but I've got high cholesterol and I'm trying to lower it without meds.  Besides which, I like to bake.

Half a sandwich can take the edge off your appetite.

Cleaned and prepped veggies and fruits have bulk and nutrients with a satisfying crunch.  Add low-fat salad dressing for a veggie dip if you want.
Here are a few from my personal recipe stash:

Spicy black bean & kale soup:  325 calories per serving

Tofu pad thai:  330 calories per serving

Tofu curry with tomatoes:  CC says 189 calories per serving, but it seems like it's got to be a little higher!

Split pea-asparagus soup:  355 calories per serving

Cauliflower with potatoes:  212 calories per serving

I like LARGE servings, so I try to work vegetables into a recipe that I can eat out of a big bowl without any sides.  Fewer dishes to wash that way.  ;-)
