Meal plan for bulimics
hi,
I am a bulimic who is 3 days purge free. I started intense therapy a year ago, august managed 90 days then it came back when things got hectic. I used to purge 15 times a day and now it can be that but either 3/4 times a week not everyday. Everytime i would string the days and couldnt cope with the puffiness. But now i am at 140lbs, was 118lbs this time last year at 164cm. I have gained 15lbs in 5 days. I hear its water retention but now im thinking i need to lose weight, boy it f*****s with your head. So also i am eating 3 meals aday and 2 snacks. Each meal has complex carb, protein, veg and little fat, trying around the 400 cal mark each mean and snacks 150c-200cal. im trying to eat a tleast 1500 cal so i dont binge. I owuld love to eat more and incoporate it but hell i gained 15lbs overnight no way. My face looks like ive had plastic surgery and in recovery and my hips have blown up, with my little pregnanat blly (no im not pregnant) BUT i got my periods back.
can someone advise me or support me or let me know what is going on and what to do. Im working hard with my therapist but anxiety is hard. After lunch i had to sleep cause i was exhausted, im so tired. Oh and im drinking at least 1.5 litres of water and herbal drinks. I dont take asparatime or soda. aLTHOUGH I HAVE BEEN CHEWING SOME GUM WHEN I GET ANXIOUS BUT I KNOW WHEN I AM BEING BULIMIC ABOUT IT:)

P.S I SEE ALL THESE MEAL PLAN FOR ANOREXICS INPATIENT, WHAT DO BULMIMICS INPATIENT EAT.
Where I was they ate the same things as the anorexics. They just has different therapy groups that were more focused towards bulimia instead of anorexia.

how did that work surely the anorexics had to restore weight?
afaik bulimic inpatients usually have a balanced weight maintenance plan, with particular emphasis on eating at least every three hours so that low blood sugar doesn't trigger wanting to binge. 1500cals is very unlikely to be enough, which might be why you're still struggling? it sounds like you've come a long way though, and the idea of balancing your meals like that is perfect. if your face is puffy the weight is very likely to be water retention, which often happens after stopping purging. can't remember which thread it was but I was saying somewhere that I once gained 10lbs in a day in water (from an IV) and 9lbs of it went away over the course of the next four/five days.
The basic meal plan was the same for both.
Then if they needed to gain, they added in snacks and supplements (or if they lost any weight they added more stuff)

I went inpatient both as a bulimic and once as an anorexic "purge type" (I say still bulimic.. just UW). Anyway, yes the meal plans are the same. For example for the first week everyone (no matter what weight) ate 3 meals and 1 snack a day (1800-2000 cals). Then people who needed to gain weight got extra snacks and other extras as the needed.. usually up to 3000-3500cals. Without weight gain, you could stay with 1 snack, or if you felt hungry you could have an optional snack added. So 2 snacks a day (with one being optional).
However, I briefly saw a dietician a month or 2 ago (before I decided to not go anymore) and she encouraged me to eat 6 times a day (whatever I could manage) to keep blood sugars stable and not allow myself to feel hungry and want to binge. (I liked it but now that I'm working a lot I don't have time to do this)

thank you all for the replies. I am now day 7....eeks. Yesterday was a hard day and i must have eaten 1800 cal. Its not that ridicolous but feels it. I loaded on veg and fruit most of day. If thats a bad day and i didnt purge i will take it. I am taking note of everything i eat so when i find a dietician we can look at it. Scotland sucks for findine one so if anyone knows let me know!!! I woke up today like id been hit by a truck. I have lost 4 of the 15 pounds but i am not weighing myself for another week.
Its hard to trust that you wont get fat on 2000 cal, and if i eat that i would want to go running everyday, ed talking. I golfed sunday 4 hours and thats meant to burn 1000 calories. WTF anyway i maybe struggled the next day cause i only ate 1500-1600 calories that day. I dont know. I just wish my hips and pregnant belly would settle down.
I will say it is better than playing russian roulette with binge and purge, but its still hard
