Meanies!! (anti-puppy)
so my co-worker lives in one family home with her cousin. the house used to be the grandmothers. from what i understand one of the uncle's is sort of in charge with the house. she asked if it was ok to get a dog a few months ago, he said fine.
then today he went by the house & told her she needs to get rid of the puppy (14 weeks old). ive been to the house before, the puppy isn't ruining anything, except for the occasional puppy mess while she is trying to train him. ive even puppy sat for him & he's just a usual puppy.
i think that is just so mean. i personally would go to war over it. but im not sure what else to tell her.

You live in someone else's house you play by their rules... and they don't have to be fair ones. She could offer to house the puppy in a kennel.... much more hygienic than giving them the run of the house. Or she could always set up home on her own, of course.

Ok, a little more background. She and her cousin are paying rent and the uncle doesn't live there. She has also woken up on the couch after her Aunt let herself in.
Yeah now I understand why I try to do things on my own. The only one I have to answer to is the husband at least.
Ahh... Maybe she could find a more pet-friendly, less intrusive landlord? However low the rent they pay, sounds like it comes at a price...
Yeah true and rents are pretty low now, it might even be bad enough out there for people to be a little more dog friendly too. Altho the family house was just sitting empty for several months before they moved in. A couple of other family members only lasted a few months there, maybe that's one of the reasons. And its an old house.
That's why people shouldn't do business with family, it gets messy. Maybe you could offer to spend the day with her finding a dog friendly apartment or small house. I would be crushed if I had to give up my puppy.
If the uncle OK'ed the puppy before, it is absolutely ridiculous for him to demand that she get rid of it now, unless it is actually destroying the house. Has she tried discussing this with the uncle, seeing what his reasons are and if there is anyway she can address his concerns without giving up the dog (such as kennel training if he thinks the puppy is destructive)?
This is why I always make sure that my pets are included in any lease I sign, not to mention 24 hour notice on any landlord access to the property. Hey, I like my cats and I like my privacy.

This may be different in your area but last time I checked into it (atleast in NYS) if they are renting the house the aunt and uncle are therefor the landlords and cannot BY LAW enter the house without permission and without notice except in the event of an emergency. If they are walking in whenever they please they can get into huge trouble. The whole situation sounds a little fishy to me. I would recommend she try and find another place if she can and in the meantime check into the laws regarding tenants rights in her area, it may wind up helping with the puppy situation as well.
Thanks guys. Yes I do believe we have that same law for landlords here. But since its family & all, well. She is just going to move out anyway, they don't seem to understand the word privacy anyway.
The puppy isn't tearing anything apart. She even painted the outside of the house and other things last summer, I think they are just taking the piss to see what else they can make her do to the family house. Without them spending any money on actually getting someone to do something professionally.
I've asked around for her for places to move to. I've done my duty. Anyway its not really my drama, I have my own.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
