How to measure?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone!  I have a question...  I'd like to start doing measurements to monitor my weight loss progress, but I have no idea how to measure myself!  Can anyone give me some advice?

It doesn't really matter where you measure as long as you do it the same again each time for consistency.  Bust... measure around the fullest part of the chest.  Waist... measure a few inches below the ribs and above the hips.  Hips... measure around the fullest part of your bottom.  You could measure your thighs, tops of the arms... anywhere's good.  Another one you might want to consider is a full-length, face-on photograph.  When you're losing weight reasonably slowly you don't tend to see the changes because you're looking at yourself every day.  Photos take a month or two apart can show the differences.

Thanks for the advice!  i already do a full length photo every month.  As for measuring, I have tried to just measure every week and got drastically different measurements every time so I think I must be doing it wrong...like maybe the tape isn't straight or maybe I'm stretching it without noticing...any hints on how to measure correctly?

Relax when measuring.... don't stretch the tape or pull it too tight..... don't suck in your stomach....  get someone else to help you....
