measurements

What should your measurements be? I should have taken mine in the beginning but I didnt, just took waist measurements. What should hips be? what about measuring arms and thighs? I know I want to get my waist to 29inches to start with. I was just wondering is there a number to strive for. I dont know if there is a number we should strive to have. Am I making any sense?

my measurements
bust 37.5
waist 34 (gross)
hips 39
thighs 21.5 each
arms 12 when flexed.
any help on this will be appreciated!

In her book, Denise Austin says she has a 24" waist. Perhaps that's something to strive for, lol.

I'll give a few of my measurements.

Bust 46 1/4" (my band size is a 38 - I'm actually 36" but like the extra room - so it's not all fat, lol)
Waist is 35 3/4"
hips 48 (can you tell I have an hourglass figure? LOL)

And I've not measured my arms or thighs.

I'm 5'2" and weigh 187 right now. But I figure I carry about 10lbs in my bra. LOL My fiance is not complaining. :P
I guess I should have entered my height is 5'9" and weight is 147. When I was 19 I had a 20 inch waist! I know thats too small and Ive married and had 2 kids back to back since then! Right now Im shooting for 29inches. But if denise austin can have a 24 in. waist why not me!

sad part is I dont have much on the bust side- kids took those! LOL

I will take some of yours hunny!
Now I have to buy a measureing tape and measure myself!!
My doc. recently told me that any waist measurement over 30 inches is a risk factor for heart disease, so while I certainly don't think we should all try to match Denise Austin, I guess having a waist measurement of 30 in. or less is a good goal to shoot for, though it sounds to me like at your height you are very well proportioned.
at this point I would be happy to have a 30 inch waist
I know when i used to go to curves that they measured the arms with them down at your side and across the fullest part of your bust.

I just started Monday I should take my measurements now. i have already lost 2 pounds though -- 26 more to go
I had heard 35inches or more so Im glad to be under that finally. Its that time of the month and I will measure again next week.
I've lost 5 pounds so far and I have another 15 to go. You guys have really motivated me to take my measurements. I'll get back to you tomorrow!!! lol
I am going to buy a measuring tape as well!

C-
gnc has a cool one that holds in place so you get a good measurement
I wish I'd measured before hand too. A while back I got a pair of my fiancee's jeans that said they had a 36" waist - I tried them on and though, man, these CANT be a 36, they're so tight on me!.. looks like I was wrong! I measured after losing weight, and my waist is currently 32". I wear a 36C, Don't know what my hips are, not sure I want to check!
exactly fluffy! hubby wears a 36! I had a hard time telling him my waist! I waited til the end of Jan. when I had lost 9 lbs then I told him. I was so embarrassed! Hows weather in Raleigh today?
Hi I am new... just started today... I have 2 kids under 3 years old and have been overweight with a family history of overweight people..I am trying to break the cycle and get down.... I wanna measure myself. I didnt even think of it till reading all your posts....

what is the best to take measurements? Can I use a regular measuring tape or does it make a difference with a fabric one?

Vicki
Hunny,

I got a kick out of your post. I have often times wanted to somehow weigh my breasts...lol....I bet I am carrying 10lbs plus some there..lol....I am a DD...Hubby doesn't complain either...but I sure do. They don't bother me and I hope they don't ever. I am aiming to loose some but we will see. They do run in my family...

Jamie:)
Jam and hunny- I want some!!!! Did you see my bust size! what if I lose what I do have- ahhhh! better win the lottery!
vtehee- same for me, except I have 2 under 4. use a fabric tape measure, ya know the soft kind that are going to be able to go around your waist.
Slappy,

I will share...take whatever you want....My aunt use to tell me the same thing. I told her she could have them...lol..
my dads side of the family is blessed with big stomachs and flat chest! I tell hubby Im screwed! im determined to not be the same! they are all 5 ft too-except my dad. Im 5"9" so I beat the short jean so I want to beat the others!
I'm not very well-endowed either...but I think I'm proportioned OK. I'm a bit larger in the hips than I wanna be. That's my problem area. Here are my measurements:

height: 5'7
bust 36
waist 29.5
hips 38

I have a hard time finding pants for a 29/30 waist and 38 hips. Either they fit in the hips and are large in the waist or are tight in the hips and fit the waist. Oh well. I'm doing my share of buttock exercises and hip flexor stuff. That's my troublesome spot.

I tried looking up "appropriate measurement" and there really isn't any. Every body is different. At least I can't find a chart for it.
Wow... it's shockin to do those measurements.

OUCH!!! depressing really.
Height... 5'10"
Waist 42.5
Bust 44 , Bra size 40C
Hips 45.5
Thighs 26
Arms 14

Looking at this... I HAVE no figure... it's pretty much even
as long as the waist is the smallest number Im happy. There was a time it was the biggest
