When pasta is dry is 3/4 cup equivalent to 1 cup cooked? I don't have a food scale and I'm not exactly sure about it.

Pasta increases by about double when it's cooked.  Start with 1/2 cup uncooked if you want 1 cup cooked.  Scales can be bought pretty cheaply and it's worth investing in some rather than guessing.

so is that one serving?

One Starch serving is equal to 1/2 cup cooked pasta.

And you usually need two per meal.

And around 6-11 daily.

no i mean like on the box it says 1/8 of the box or 2 ounces. thats the serving i meant..

I do not recommend measuring pastas by "cups" when dry.  How much will fit in that cup depends chiefly on the pasta shape itself - and you can't exactly fit dry spaghetti in a measuring cup.

The best way to measure pasta to make sure you're getting 2 ounces is to just get a cheap kitchen scale and weigh the dry pasta.

i guess another alternative could be splitting the contents of the box into 8 equal-looking portions.

I counted out the noodles once, then figured out how many of them would fit in my ring. 1/2 a ring's worth is 2 ounces based on my finger size. I did this because I have seen plastic spaghetti measuring devices which were a piece of plastic with holes in them.

2 oz of pasta cooked and on the plate is a very small looking portion compared to restaurant sizes. I'd guess that the average restaurant portion uses about 6 oz dry.

Don't go too cheap on the scale.  I had one once where you could weigh an item 3 times and get 3 different weights.  In a perfect world, I would own a digital scale.  In a perfect world, I wouldn't be overweight.Sealed
