NO Meat NO Men NO Sugar NO Dairy For a year...
So...I thought i'd count calories and swear of meat and dairy and refined sugar...oh yeah and dating and sex...
so far i've only given in to one thing...the dairy...ZAP! I had some angel food cake with whippy icing..
I went to a party and there were men there.....tall healthy looking men...arg..
so far meat is the easiest....i've given in to the dairy once...a little sugar with that...and i've dreamt of doing the deed with my boss...YIKES
I've had some problems with food and sex addiction in the past....so we'll see how this goes!
I seriously thought you were joking until I read the last line...
Best of luck to you.
But sex is considered excercise, isn't it?
No, I'm just kidding. Haha.
Good luck!
yeah sex is only good exercise if its vigorous...and i can't be hanging from any chandaleirs at my size...
hopefully 100lbs from now i can be doing the loop de loop in the nude...i'm nuts!
Why give up meat and dairy? ...
Chicken is pretty low calorie and filling...
Yogurt is another very low calorie snack that is great to add into a diet....
Losing weight isnt about arbitrarily cutting out food groups or ingredients. Its actually really simple. Just count calories and throw in a little exercise to keep things going. You can eat cake every day and still lose weight if you felt like it.... its not so much about what you are eating, its more about how much you are eating.
Another thing that seems to help is getting rid of all foods you might snack on in the house. Along with planning meals makes sticking to a diet a lot easier.
'All or nothing' rarely works.... Nothing guarantees failure like the words 'I'm never eating x, y, or z again'. You've already had some dairy and sugar and it's only Jan 13th.
It's not what you want to hear but moderation is far more sustainable.
Wow. O__o I can't give up sugar - it's like my staple food. Lol! As for men, hmm......
Absence makes the heart grow fonder..........
So, why are you getting rid of all of these things? Especially, at once? I can see why you would want to get away from extra sugars. Is the meat and dairy thing because of "animal rights" or is it a health move?
I recently gave up meat but only because I'm kind of grossed out about it. Seems like since I started dating my fiance, meat is everywhere.....hey, not like that! I mean, he eats a ton of meat and it just eventually got to me.
So really, many of those things are perfectly fine for you. Just be careful and monitor how you feel. Get your 5-a-day, water, vitamins, and exercise too.
wow, I thought you were seriously joking until that last line. Seems like a lot all at once - might want to pace yourself and start with small steps for the long term success.
best of luck
Being married giving up men might be a problem, unless hubby could go for a no nookie year!
good luck, those are some hard tasks you have set for yourself.
yeah, unless you really want to, don't give up all of that.. one little cheat turns into, well I've screwed it up now! might as well eat the whole tub of ice cream while I"m at it!!
The thing I'm doing for my resolution is to attempt to not eat things I really shouldn't be eating anyway, with a 'no cookies' rule. i can let myself give into cake, if I must, but never cookies. It sounds weird, but cookies is usually the treat we'll have in the house for my husband, so if I can limit myself there, I should be okay.
Don't just give up meat unless you're really disgusted by it - it's a huge commitment, probably more so than "I'm losing 20 lbs this year!!!!" it takes careful planning, especially if you're going half-vegan in addition to vegetarian - with no dairy. No meat means no bacon, which is my biggest pitfall. No dairy means no whip cream, no cheese, cuting out most breads - you'd be amazed what has some milk in it.
If you really want to start somewhere, tell yourself you're going to cut your sugar in half - no sodas, and skip every other treat day if your work does cakes for bday's or other celebrations. Eat out, but don't order dessert. Allow yourself some dark chocolate, but not the candy bar.
...would make me want to jump off a bridge.
But hey, good luck with your resolutions. I agree with the others that you may be better off trying for moderation rather than abstinence.
At least you didn't give up smoking.

Concur!
only time its good to restrict a food is when you know its a weakness that you will overeat on.
Like dining in on indian food...i know i will end up overeating on that (its a weakness! just soooooooooo good).
Or, cookies after lunch...i knowww i will eat some on the ride home (just one bite....just another bite....just another cookie....)
Know yourself and know how to work around that :)

Update...it's been like 9 months since I made this thing...and what have I done...fell back into dirty traps...I made it without meat and dairy until April...then just went back to normal eating habits...blah...
I did have one small sexual encounter...and I mean small...I'm not sure it even counts...
Anyhow I've decided that I must lose weight. So here's a new pledge. I will eat no more than 2000 calories and no less than 1200 calories a day. I will drink only water and exercise....luck be wished upon me :(
You brought this post back from the dead...so how did it go?
Ok, I guess I posted that as you were posting your update.
Why not make some slow lifestyle changes? It doesn't need to be all or nothing. Start with drinks. Start with water for a few weeks. Once that's not a big deal anymore, change your breakfast options. One thing at a time makes it SO much easier. Had you started that nine months ago, you might have had better news.
Good luck!
