Why is meat rated an D & F?
I have noticed that meat is rated either D or F, even tuna and chicken, anybody know why?
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Foods forum
Person who grades food is a vegetarian? ![]()
No, I have no idea.
What meats are you looking at? The only one I had that was a D was Bacon. Ground beef, roast beef, sirloin, pork roast, grilled chicken, ham were all either B's or C's.
i haven't seen any meats as an F, most are B's and C's, tuna is A
Not sure where you are looking, but the grades vary by meat..they aren't all Ds or Fs. So, look again. I've posted the first page of different types of meat..hope this helps :)

Thanks Chrissy! I just looked myself. The only beef I found that was a D was a corned beef brisket. There was some Starkist Solid white Albacore in water that got a D--I honestly think that one is a misteak.
OP, you're going to have to be specific to where you got your information.
I don't know about D's and F's, but I think a lot of meat gets graded down because of cholesterol or saturated fat content. Personally though, I wouldn't put too much stock in CC's grading system - there are plenty of foods on there that get poor grades and are perfectly healthy and beneficial as part of a balanced diet
I'm from Canada and I find that a lot of our brand name foods are not on here so i input my info myself. I find the same thing, meats are a D or an F, my sole I bought always comes up as a D and my chicken also. I still eat them though.
its true that if you're putting in your own meats in the grades will get a D or F. This is because the items listed on CC include a bunch more nutrients than just the 4 you given on packages (Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, and Iron). If you click any item and click the "see more extended nutritional details" located under the nutrtional facts, you'll see there's more nutrients listed.
Yeah, I have noticed that fresh salmon consistently gets a D. I thought it was supposed to be healthy with all of the omega-3 fats you get from it. I don't know the criteria CC is using to grade foods...
if you're putting a single ingredient into your log and analyzing, you might get a D or an F because it's not balanced.
