Medication advice
I have a doctor appt comming up because I have to get a bone density test done. (Has anyone else had to get one?)
Im also considering asking about something to help curb my binging because I have no self control I lost it a year ago. (Anyone know the names of these medications?)
Im trying my hardest to get better with the help of my doctor so if anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it :]
About your binging.
Are you eating enough? A balance of carbs/fats/protein?
I find that when I eat 30%fats/30% proteins, that it curbs my cravings and helps with binging.
Since I do not know you age/weight/height and calorie intake it is hard to offer advice.
Have you used the tools to figure out your daily calorie needs and are you sticking to it?

My calorie count daily averages between 800 -1200 on a normal day
On a day that I do binge it is around 5,000
Age 20
Height 5'1"
Weight 95
I try to stick to 1500 a day but its hard due to a poor immune system so I tend to never be hungry unless Im binging
If you're eating only 800-1,200 on non-binge days, that could explain why your body would want to binge. You won't have much of an appetite because your body's being thrown between starving and ODing on food, so maybe planning out your day before and sticking to eating what you have planned may help.
You should also be eating way more than 1500 calories, you probably need 1500 just to be alive (google a site that will tell you your BMR) PLUS whatever you are burning throughout the day, so you probably need 2,000-2,500 just to maintain.
When you go to your doctor you should raise your concerns with him/her, and he/she should be able to help you set out a plan for what you should be eating and what you can do to help with the bingeing. I think anything that would help with bingeing may kill your appetite completely, so that may not be the best thing.
Good luck!

The body is an amazing machine. You can try and trick, but it knows and will make you meet its nutritional needs. Ny giving your body what it once to begin with you will find that you will not want to binge as often.
At 95 pounds, your body is telling you that it needs more calories to survive. Sick to the 1500 calories each day, it is the best gift that you can do for yourself.
Make sure that you are eating healthy nutritious foods. Stick to 1500 calories a day. Be nice to yourself and your body.
A bone density scan is a very simple, non-invasive procedure. it involves taking xrays to determine if you are having any demineralization (decrease in desity) of your bones which is an indication of risk of osteoporosis. It will take about 10-20 min total. The results of the xrays will be read by a radiologist.
I'm not sure what medications to help you control binging you might be speaking of..? There may be some use for anti-depressant type medications in this regard, but you certainly would not want to consider taking an appetite suppressant with your low wt.
Consider talking to a Registered Dietitian for nutr advise with regard to your specific medical conditions. (ie: you mentioned a "poor immune system")
Take care.
My memory of my DEXA scan within the last couple of years was that is was very quick and there was not much prep involved. Did not even have to get into a johnny for it. I remember asking, "Was that it?" because it was so fast.
Even though you binge, you are currently underweight at a BMI of 17.9. I presume that is why you are getting the scan at your age. Undereating your calories can lead to binging.

Treatment is what gddrdld thought: antidepressants, particularly those that increase serotonin, and perhaps antianxiety medication
"Given evidence for the role of 5-HT [serotonin] inducing satiety, especially in regulation of carbohydrate-containing foods, a deficiency in persons with bulimia may perpetuate the binge-purge cycle. Successful treatment of patients with bulimia using drugs that increase serotonin levels or otherwise modulate the 5-HT system provides additional support for this theory."
hi, allthatsfrosted
I recommend you get this thread locked or something, as it is only a matter of time before you are repeatedly pelted with responses telling you you only binge because you are underweight and you need to reach blank BMI or else.
if you only do eat 800 cals some times that doubtless contributes to irregular eating habits, but you are about to hear the same message reworded eighteen times if you write posts like this.
