Medifast . . . does it work?
I'm not having great results by watching my calories. I watch them continue to go in!!! It's called "hand to mouth disease". Thinking about checking into the "Medifast" program for 28 days. Anyone have any experience with this program?
Thanks,
Judy
did a lot of fasting before 2009...i just kept gaining the weight back...this time it is different...I gave up most vitamins, drink mostly water, no red meat and try to get my nutrients from healthy food from the CC food log..I eat .mostly organic. I keep myself regular with natural colon cleansers and check my BP daily. I was 202 in Jan 09 now 174 heading to 167 by May 31st. works for me.
The fasting does teach you discipline but it is I think not natural for the body to do without food. Yet lots of cultures do it...I did lose the weight yes..but was so intent on eating when I was finished the fast.
Three of my friends went on the Medifast diet. All of them lost a considerable amount of weight within one year, and each one of them gained all the weight back within months of reaching their goal weight.
As I recall, it was a rather expensive meal plan.
I suffered from the hand-to-mouth disease too at one time. It sucks!!!! LOL
Fortunately, I was able to find the right lifestyle changes that worked for me and helped me lose an enormous amount of weight. But what works for one person, doesn't always work for the next.
Good luck.
hey there. i went on it 3 years ago, and i can tell you it does work! but...like mentioned...i gained everything + more back! i didn't transition off of the plan the correct way, and went from eating 800-900 calories a day back up to my normal eating which could have ranged anywhere from 1500-2000 calories a day. it is rather pricey, and i don't know if i would reccomend it. it is great for losing weight fast, but its also a great way to gain itall back fast, too. like most other people, i would just suggest finding a more realistic "diet" if anything. i actually hate counting calories, but i try to do so at least every other day to get the jist of how much i am taking in. how long have you been counting your calories? and what kind of calories are you taking in, nutrient dense calories? or unhealthier foods, fried, high fat, or even "diet" versions of food? look over the types of food you are eating, and you should be able to find the culprit. also, are you exercising?
hope that helps!
Ok, I apologize upfront if I am going to sound harsh, but you say you have problems counting calories because you keep eating too much and then you think medifast is what is going to help you?
I think you should do yourself a GREAT favor and kick yourself in the butt and start counting calories PROPERLY, this will teach you how to keep track and STAY on track, going on medifast is not going to teach you anything, the only thing it will do is cost you money and yes, you will lose weight and then what, then you still did not learn how to live a normal 'foodlife' and so you will go back to your 'hand to mouth disease' and voila, you are back where you begun..........
Really do yourself a favor and start counting, make sure not to have too many temptations in the house and if you happen to fall off, just climb back on and keep going, I am going to bet you that you can do it, if you have the power to comit yourself to 28 days of gros food, I am going to tell you you have the power to count calories and eat actual food!
Ok.................</end bitchmode>

You can do it, I know you can!
I absolutely agree with soliwit. I might not apologize
though. Spend your money if you really want to on Medifast, or the hundreds of other options. Lose your weight, then watch it come right back to haunt you bringing additional weight as well.
I noticed that Kirstie Allie has regained all her weight +some after Jenny Craig. How gawd awful would that be?
What ever level of weight loss you hope to follow, I really wish for you that you would just stick to it here, and not depend on quick fix-it's to give you results that probably won't last, since you didn't learn how to eat right to begin with.
Okay, I will apologize, but I'm not sorry I answered your question. ![]()
