Hi Everyone ~ Thought I'd share a little information :)
The calculators here are for adults, over age 19. Based on the new WHO (World Health Organization) and US CDC (Centers for Disease Control), a Body Mass Index (bmi) of 18.5 - 25 is considered healthy and normal. Anything below that is considered underweight. You can use the calculators here or you can use calculators other places, like the CDC calculator to help you figure out where you are or what bmi your goal weight would be. Here is the CDC Calculator :)
The International Standards for Teenagers (age 19 and younger) is different because teenagers are still growing and usually require more calories for growth. Here is a good calculator for Teenagers, with a lot of information including calorie information. We suggest you read this information carefully and share it with your parents:
If you are a teenager, please check with your parents for help setting appropriate weight goals.
Everyone can benefit from working with a professional in the real world ~ a doctor, counselor, personal trainer, nutritionist/dietician to help you establish good goals for you and to set up an appropriate way to eat to reach your goals :)
Cheers,

I'm 5' 7" and 165. My goal was set at 145. I'd prefer 135. I'm 40 yrs old, as a teen I could anything and still have an 18" waist. Getting old is hard. I never had to limit myself.

5'7" I started a year or so ago in the high 140's. Almost 150. Now I'm down to 138 and really want to get to 135. I love exercise and am pretty toned so I can't see it beneficial for me to be much below that. I wouldn't mind seeing 133 so my highest days are 135, but we'll see! Right now I'm feeling pretty ok at 138 so I'm sure I'll feel fantastic at 135!

It really depends on your frame - I am 5'7 and i weigh 120, but look bigger than some of you who weigh more... its all about how you look and feel to you, and when you look in the mirror and say "damn!" you'll know you are where you want to be.
I agree hockeygirl44, I just want to be able to do that...Almost there! But I have to admit, it's hard not to be preoccupied with the numbers. I think it has to do with that whole body dismorphic thing, like being overly critical or yourself, or not being sure if what you're seeing is what everyone else is. I know most people feel "fatter" than they really are...so I try to check out the numbers and look in the mirror and "see" what I should be seeing.
28 yrs. old- 5'6 and 1/2-close to 5'7. I think I'm medium frame, but my fingers do overlap a bit with the finger trick, so I don't know. But I am finally in the 130's(139 as of this morning). It has been years!! I would like to be 135, I think that would be ideal for me (where I was post-kids but pre-metabolic slump), and if I can maintain it...even better. In my opinion anywhere between 125-140 and toned, is pretty ideal for medium frame average height (5'5-5'7) women.

5'7 and currently 191 and am shooting for 160 we will then see from there. My absolute lowest would be 140 though.
I'm 5'7" and 133 lbs and my goal weight is 128 for now. It'll probably drop to 120 or so though, since the progress I've made so far hasn't made me look anywhere near how I want to look. -.-
i'm 5'8" && currently weight 135.
my goal is 130, maybe 125.

I'm a small frame 5'6.75" and 117 lbs...I want to be 110. Maybe less...What do you guys think?
I'm assuming I'm a large frame because I'm 145 lbs and I can't imagine weighing any less :S
FRUUUUUSTRATED!
I'M 5'8 AND 138-140...
I LOOK FLABBY but i'm working hard on cardios and stuff...
very very very frustrated cuz i recently cant get a POUND off and have come into the situation as...being really bloated...i ALWAYS have this problem once in a while...no high sodium food but oh well.
why is that? i'm so disappointed about myself.
Anyone's with me?

I was 182 at highest, now i'm 155 and I would like to be 130-140... but i've kind of platued... any suggestions?
I'm 5'8, and was 120 a little over a year ago, so that's what I'm shooting for. I am currently 150. I don't think I'll GET to 120, because I have a considerable amount of muscle now, thanks to my job, but I want to lose at least 20lbs. I just don't know how to start.
allison, i'm with you...but i'm certainly not musculine as you are i'm sure...well, i do want to lose weight of at least 20 pounds..but i'm hitting a plateau...anyway, i'm with you and let's just start to work harder on this.
i'm 5'8", currently at 143, down from 164.
my lightest adult weight was about 122, approx. 17 years ago. i'm aiming for 130-135. that said, my body seems to really like this 140-ish weight, and i'm back into a size 8. i might just aim for "fitter" rather than "lighter."

excellent question because I wanted to know the same thing!
I know that I was 135 ish when I graduated highschool so that'd be my ideal weight... However, @ one-two pounds a week, it might take a while...

5'7" shooting, ultimately, for 130. I am aiming for fit. From experience, being down in the 120s is just a touch too skinny for me. I'd be happy with a size 8 or 6.
Hi the CC says I should be 147.
For now, my goal is 170. Then I'll see what happens from there. I was 138 in a size 8 and thought I liked that, but it was too hard to maintain and I was not fit and didn't feel strong. Now that I am working with weights, and hiking, I think 150 and a size 10-12 would be a better comfort zone to reach and maintain.
Hi I am 5'7 and I weigh 145. My goal weight is 135.
