Mega Heavy: There Is Always Hope
Had a person who had not seen in in better than 4 years ask me if I was related to myself. They just couldn't believe the change! Even still at 400+, and people are still being blown away by the change. Always makes me feel good.
Then the fact that my health is so much better, and life itself is simply better all the way around. I don't need a seat belt extesion anymore. I can pick myself up off the ground.
Being mega heavy was like being in a prison of my own making, Better than 46 years old, and well over 650 pounds. Could barely walk. Never went anywhere that I absolutely didn't have to go. I was simply waiting to die.
But to my good fortune, I found I had the keys to my own prison. Simple keys. Eating right, keeping active, getting out and enjoying life. All important to a successful weight/fitness program.
My message here is that no matter what a person's condition, there is always hope. The most important thing is to get started, and there isn't any excuse because all the tools a person needs are right here.
My best advice. Get up, get going, enjoy life, and stick to it. Yes, there will be some bad days, but it's not about one day, it's about a lifetime. ![]()
Edit: And being able to buy clothes off the rack at Wal-Mart is an excellent feeling!!!
Reason: 10/20/09: Stickied for a short while, thanks; 11/20/09: Unstickied
This is so inspirational. I bet you felt like a million bucks after being asked about being related to yourself :D

Worthy of a bump. Great message.
What a message! So true duke. We all have bad days, weeks, months but we've got to focus on how far we've come. It's the things we can do now that we couldn't do before that keep us going.
Well done Duke- this message will be a huge inspiration to those out there who either need to lose any amount of weight, be it 20 pounds or 300 pounds.
It can be done :o)
Thank you all so much
!! But I'm nothing special. I'm just someone who had checked out of life for awhile. It's all about attitude. A person needs to look inside and find that zest for life we all have. It's there in all of us. The God's gave us all this gift of life. A shame to waste it locked up in a body of fat. Get out and enjoy!!!
Well, there you are. I've seen your name at the forum for those who have to lose a hundred pounds or more and hadn't seen a post by you. I can see why, you must travel all over this site encouraging others to continue on with the daily struggle to overcome a lifetime of habits.
Thank you.
I am seriously inspired. Here I am at just over 200 pounds (I was at 185 6 months ago) and I have been thinking "I can't do this, I am a failure...blah blah blah", but look at you! You have accomplished a huge feat! I am here because I am back to my calorie counting non-stress eating ways, and I feel that glimmer of hope again...that it is possible. I have the keys. So thank you for your post!
WOW, what an amazing journey!
Congratulations Duke :)
