Hey everyone! I just joined the ranks of losing weight.  My oldest daughter encouraged me to lose weight with her.  I'm going to try but will need some encouragement from people my age.

I'm 55 and very happily married to a wonderful man.  I have 2 daughters, of which the oldest will be getting married to a great Marine in May of '08.  I want to be slimmer before the wedding!

I would love to hear from you and I promise that I will be an encourager to you as well.

Well, I'm not quite your age (getting there) but wanted to welcome you anyway.  There are members of all ages, shapes, and sizes (I was going to say sex -- but I think there are still only two genders, but I don't keep up with that stuff), and most everyone will be more than happy to join you in your weight loss journey.

You may wish to build a profile -- that will help people learn a little more about you and then you can also search on similar interests.

You can go into the forums -- I know for a fact there is a "senior" corner in the Lounge -- there may be specific groups still open in other forums.

Anyway -- welcome again -- if you have any questions don't hesitate to send a shout

Here we are!

Senior's Corner

Actually we're everywhere on CC not just that one thread.

Good morning, I, too, just joined.  I am 54 and this is the first time in my life that I actually have to lose weight.. . . . and be serious about it.  Keeping the food log will keep me honest.  When I see it written down it is really a dose of reality.  I had major back surgery in Jan (rod/screws/ etc) and having a difficult time finding the right combo of exercises that don't cause a "set back".  This morning I did a great hike for about 1 1/2 hours but that's about it for the day.  Maybe some weights or yoga/pilates later or perhaps, tomorrow.  The South Beach way of eating is a great common sense lifestyle.  I know all the right things but I just have to put them in practice.  My biggest problem will be wine.  I look forward to my social times and wine w/ dinner.  If I can be strong with this, I know it will make a big difference.  I'm all in favor of support from one another.  I started a walking club in our neighbor hood and it's great exercise and social time.  Makes exercise easier.  Ciao!

HELLO!

OK, I am in my 40s, but somedays I FEEL like I am in my 50s, does that count?  hee hee hee

Congratulations on your daughter marrying a Marine! I'm a military wife myself -- it's quite an adventure!

Hi Lou Ann,

I also just joined this week, and am on the back side of the age group you mentioned! YIKES!!! It seems to be harder to loose at our age, but it is possible with all the helps that are offered here. I have found recording what I eat has helped me a lot. I am still learning how to use all the tools that are available. I am impressed with this site a lot and it is FREE!!! Love that as I checked out the weight watchers site that my daughter recommended and it is expensive! This is my first post on the site. I look forward to the encouragement and helpful tips from other members.

Welcome! I have been on the site for about a year and lost 37 pounds so far. It is much harder now that I am older, but this site and it's members are great!!!

I just finally found the Seniors corner last week. I have yet to put a profile together; have mostly just been "lurking" but plan to join up soon.
