Hi there!
I'm pretty close to being in your boat. I'm 25, 125-130 lbs and looking to get down to about 110-115 by March 31. I'm 5'3" and pretty darn lazy! Working on counting calories and putting exercise in my diet. Never tried pills yet because I technically don't look too terrible, but at my age, metabolism is slowing down and I've noticed a gradual weight gain over the last few years. Lost 10 lbs for my wedding last year but have since put them all back on. Trying to jump start my system here and see if I can keep it down.
I only started yesterday taking this seriously but feel better (although tired) today. Trying to incorporate little bouts of exercise into my day - went for a walk before lunch around town in the snow, going to try another one tonight... hoping it helps a bit.
Hi, I'm 40, 5'3" and around 130 (been avoiding the scale lately). I'd like to loose about 20 but I just can't get motivated. I was doing great before Thanksgiving then the holidays came and messed me up!!!!! All my clothes are thight, I feel bloated and gross but I just keep poking junk in my mouth. I had been working out 1 1/2 hours, about 4 days a week and was getting in shape, had lost about 7 pounds-- but I think I started feeling like the results weren't coming fast enough so when the food and holidays came I gave in. I haven't re-motivated yet. Maybe if there are some gals with my same goals we can work together? 20 pounds isn't that much is it?????? I need to get motivated. Maybe think about where I want to be instead of where I am. We could start by setting some small goals and try to reach them together. Like two pounds by the 14th or something like that????
I think that mini-goals are a great idea! I hear with the holidays and giving in to temptation. Its fustration but its something I want to learn to have more self control with. Ill tell you that my biggest weakness is going out with my boyfriend and having dinner and drinking almost all night. I do soooo well during the day and even the rest of the week. I dont know what to do...cuz I love and think that our 1x week date night is very important for us. (and I love wine!)
I cant seem to EVER get below 138-140 and I really want to make it happen this time and stay there.
Todays is the 4th so we should pick a day each week and check in and post with each other and set a goal each week with lbs loss and exercises done. what do you think? should we do it on a monday? we could post what our past week was like and what we would like for the coming one as well. let me know.

Well, I am 5'3 and I need to lose 37lbs to get within my weight range. I'm 41 and it is so hard to get there! I walk on the treadmill at 3.8 for 45-60 minutes. I have now bumped it up to at least 5miles or 90 minutes now because I was getting nowhere! Kudos to all of you who have only about 15-20 lbs to lose! Share your success stories with me! I've got to be down at least 15lbs before my 1/2 marathon (which I will be walking) on April 6, 2008. My weakness is around my "ladies' discomfort" days, which are coming up soon, and I ABSOLUTELY crave sweets and salty snacks! Any suggestions on how to get over those days?
Peace & Blessings to All...
ok, lets meet here at least one set day a week to see if we can meet mini goals. I don't usually check this site regularly so that will be a first goal for me to remember to check in at the appointed time...Mondays would work for me. Lets start this Monday (since I have already made excuses this week for not starting a new excercise program this past week like I should have). So I can tell you now, I won't have any weight loss to report on monday but maybe the prospect of our first "mini-goal meeting" will get my fat butt off the couch tomorrow and I'll start working out again....I'm excited to have some girls my size and age to do this with. I get so de-motivated when I don't see big changes right away and that bums me out. hey, are we going to do before and after pix? It may help motivate...but I don't know if I have the guts.
auntieconnie-I think being 40 definetaly makes a difference at how fast the weight comes off. And it seems to go back on so easliy too. The 1/2 marathon is great motivation! I've always thought that would be a fun thing to try.
Let me know about Monday

Mondays are good for me...I also won't have a weight loss either for monday...perhaps the monday after. I started SI6 today and plan to log in my journal atleast 5 days out of the week for following that workout. I think that Monday should go something like this...weight after you get up and your loss goal for the week is, along with your goal for exercise. Sound good? and the following mondays we can summarize if we met our mini goal and how the exercise goal went along with our "mini-goals" for the next monday.
As for the before and after pix...I already posted one next to my profile name...embarrassing, yes I know, but Im hopin that it will motivate me to keep at my goals.
So I am excited...and I want so much not to talk myself out of why I cant exercise today or I'll do it later....WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Good Monday Morning! Well, here we go...
Starting weight: 134
Goal ftw: 1 pound
Excercise : 1/2 hour in AM before
Ok so here's my first excuse: I only have a goal for one pound this week because I'm pretty sure I'm going to be OTR tomorrow so I know I'll be bloating....I am also starting sort of slow so I don't get too sore and have more excuses for the rest of the week.
Hey makinincount44-- I have Slim in 6 and I was thinking about trying it agian. I am actually going to be doing the start up every morning for the first week, then when I feel ready, I'll add Ramp it Up in the afternoon.
What is everyones long term goal? I think I'd like to loose 20-24 pounds by Easter (but it comes early this year so maybe by April 1st) Does that sound doable or am I setting myself up for defeat? I guess if I go 2 pounds each week I could do it...??? What are your long term goals?
I will try to get a before pix taken tonight UUUGGGHHHH!!!
Let's go girls!!!
Leslie
makinitcount44--I just joined the 5'3" club and I saw you had joined too. I guess we will get double accountability! We can post our weight there on Friday and check how well we did over the weekend here :)
So I didnt get a chance to post yesterday (son had the flu) so Ill post today.
Weight~ 139
goals~ im eating 1200-1300 calories aday and have been doing SIU and getting it use to it and then will add RIU. but ill try to do add that on sat or sunday.
so my weight lost goal for the week is 1lb. My long term goal is about 10lbs by february 16th. Although that might be pushing it a bit. (little over a 1.5 a week.)
So for monday I did fine for calories, I usually do. Im thinking that I might try calorie shifting. Maybe Ill start that tomorrow.
I'm about 5' 4" so I'm close. I'm running at 165# right now and need to get back down to 135# where I was 25 years ago! Right now I'm just trying to get into the habit of regular exercise and reasonable diet/portion control!
My daughter decided last month she wants to go vegetarian so I'm introducing a lot of new foods into our diet as well.
Leslie~ How did SI6 work last time for you? Any outstanding results?
Welcome elextranjero & auntieconnie
good luck in your life changes!!!
Makinincount--I did see some good results with SI6 but I didn't finish the program. It was such a hard work out and I felt like I needed to do more cardio to burn more calories so I sort of made up my own work out. so I started doing a cardio video for 45 minutes, then I did the arm section of RIU two times in a row then I would do Six pack. It added up to about an hour and 15 minutes a day. I was down a jean size and starting to see some great results, then I got an elbow injury and the holidays came and I sort of quit. I would like to get back into the habit but have had a difficult week this week already--excuses, excuses...I am doing well with the calorie intake but I need to get back to a regular work out plan. don't you think that SI6 is a killer????? She never stops!
amberpic-If you keep with the plan your on you'll be a MILF in no time! Keep up the good work. I've never tried supplements -- I hate taking pills.
elestranjero--Have you ever roasted brocolli in the oven? It is so good! My son (13) likes alot of veggies but never really wanted to eat the steamed brocolli so I drizzled some with a little olive oil and roasted it in a 400 oven for about 15-20 minutes (it gets slightly browned and crispy) then add a little salt before serving. He loves it. Now we fight over who gets the last peice! hahaha
OMG Leslie~ I totally hear you with the week. Calories are great but I jut cant seem to exercise. UUGGGHH! I do enjoy SI6 and your right she goes forever. I agree with you tho, you need to add more cardio instead of just doing SI6 alone. Classes start up on tuesday and with my tuition I can use their gym so 3x week in between classes Im goin to do the ellip and treadmill while still using SI6. I am getting the shape bikini boot camp and its a 30 min cardio/strenghtn workout so Im goin to do that either alternating with SI6 or in the afternoons, not sure yet.
Oh and by the way, Im goin to try your broccoili recipe. I love broccoli but could always use different ways of making it and eating it.
I, too, will try the roasted broccoli idea. We've discovered we like a lot of veggies that way better than steamed -- just throw them into a pan in the oven with a bit of olive oil and seasonings. Mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, zuccini, eggplant, squash and sweet peppers are yummy - like shish kabobs without the sticks.

Makinitcount--Let me know how the bikini boot camp is. I love a good 30 minute work out. We have an a couple of old ones that are good: Crunch Turbo Sculpt and Crunch Boot Camp but I'm burned out on them. Going to the gym between classes is great-I'd like to be able to use my lunch hour. I may have to try that a few times a week.
About the brocolli, if you like garlic throw a few whole cloves on the tray too. They roast up and get super yummy too. (hint: I line the cookie sheet with non stick foil for easy clean up.)
BTW--what is calorie shifting?
Welcome jaaejaae, Congratulations on your weight loss. Are you at your goal? for more energy be sure you are getting enough sleep and are you eating enough to fuel you body? I don't drink much coffee (about a cup a day) but maybe try only half a cup at a time then fill the rest with non or low fat milk. You'll still get some coffee and you'll get a calcium and vitamin boost as well. If you do it in evey cup you'll cut your coffee intake in half.
I love roasted veggies of any kind but the zuccini and squash seem to get mushy --any ideas?
