Memorial Day Virtual 5K/10K/Half-Marathon Race!
Calling all current and future runners and walkers!! It's time to start the roll call for 6th CC Virtual Race! This time we are doing a 5k (3.1 miles) ,a 10k (6.2 miles), and a half marathon (13.1 miles) so you can choose the distance that works best for you. Memorial Day weekend is May 24th-26th, so pull out your running shoes and start training up for your favorite distance.
There are beginner runner programs like CC's own Learn to Run thread if you are new and would like to work your way up to it.
There is no rule that you have to run the full distance!!
You can do run/walk intervals, or walk the entire distance, whichever
you prefer! The idea is just to get out on the 24th, 25th or 26th and go the
distance, either on your own or by joining in a race in your hometown
area. Plot out a course in your local neighborhood using a site like runningmap.com or http://www.mapmyrun.com/, hit the treadmill, or check out Active.com to find local races.
Post
here if you want to be added to the race roster, and be sure to let us
know which distance you pick. Check back often to see how everyone is
doing, and of course let us know how it goes on race day! And check out the Mission: Run Around the World thread to log your training miles and chat with other runners like you!
Happy running!!
Phord, you running the Peachtree this year? I am still undecided, although it's probably closed by now. Maybe next year!
Um, it's possible my in-laws will be in town, so for safety's sake right now I'll sign up for the 10K. If it turns out they come at a different time I'll change it to the half marathon.
Go US!
Jenka: I sent in my forms and check for the Peachtree, but I haven't heard back yet. I'm pretty sure you have to have your entry form in by March 31, so you missed it this year. It's a Big Deal for me, because 12 months ago I could barely run a mile, and 12 months before that I couldn't run a quarter mile.
sign me up for a half marathon... I can't wait!
sign me up for the 10k. thanks.
10K for me thanks
Phord, yes that's true about the 31 March deadline, however I'm a member of the Atlanta Track Club, the owner of the race, which means I get higher priority and can register later. Ahh, the benefits of membership! I've decided that I won't do it, though, because there's a pretty good possibility I'll either be in LA or Massachusetts on 4 July. GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you will do GREAT!
*Bump*
Everyone still training for the Memorial Day Virtual Race?
Turns out my in-laws won't be in town, so I'm up for a half marathon!
Reminding everyone that our Memorial Day Virtual Race is coming up soon (May 24- 26). There's still plenty of time left to sign up if you haven't already. And for those of you who have already signed up, this is a reminder, in case you wanted to do any special preparation/training for this.
ooo sign me up for a 10K!!!
i've been MIA from the running around the world thread, as i've been sick for almost 2 weeks and hurt my ankle before getting sick. but i'm just starting to get back to working out and plan on running tomrw! yay!!
I won't be able to do it after all... we'll be on vacation. Have fun everyone!
Why, oh why oh why did I choose to run a HM the weekend after running a full marathon? I'm so clueless sometimes.
Anyways, I ran my half-marathon today in 1:38:54.
I'd like to do a 5k!
Hi Racers!
Saturday 24th is race day for me!! I chose to walk the Half Marathon, and I walked it on my treadmill at home.
Time Started: 9.25 am
Time Finished: 12.05 pm
Total time for 13.5 miles, 2 hrs 40 mins (yey me!)
I plan to try again in four months to see if I can improve that time.
Good luck and happy racing to everyone else!
Did my 10K today with a pretty nasty head cold and felt like I was going to cough up my lung during the last few K's. Anway, I finished with a time of 58:36.
well i had signed up for a 10K but could only do 4.68 miles :( after not running for awhile, i guess i lost it! gotta get back in it
Just finished my first 10K in 1:13. I was doing fairly well until the last mile when the wheels fell off. This is my frist attempt at this distance so it is a PR for me. I learned a lot and am looking forward to the running again.
alright i ran my 6.2 + 3 extra , so 9.2 miles please!!
