The truth of just cynical fiction?
This video is frightening, that is all I have to say. The most terrifying thing about it is that from my conversations with divorced men, this video isn't that far from the truth.
How have things become like this? This doesn't seem to provide a very strong incentive for people to marry.

The further along you go, the more sick of each other you'll get...but the more used to each other you'll get. And with the looks headed downhill (for both) and the age sneaking up...and the kids and joint possessions multiplying, it gets more and more difficult to split up. Pretty soon you've been married 20 years and peope are coming to you asking for advice on marriage and you're sitting there thinking, "Why the $&%^ are you asking me!?"
Damn... and I thought I was the most cynical c*cksucker on the planet. You just blew me out of the water there.
Remind me to never ask you about the economy.
I am glad that you added that looks went downhill *for both*. So what's the problem then?
I just want to say that some people actually do get better looking with age...I have met some pretty handsome old men, and some pretty gorgeous older ladies.
Ever seen that commercial featuring the 83 year old lady who waterski's? She has a hotter body than many women 1/4th her age. I don't think humans are doomed to complete degredation of physical attractiveness just because we get older. If we take care of ourselves....!!

So true! It's amazing. Sometimes people actually become better looking with age. Their features mature in a way that's attractive. This isn't always the case but does happen!
Sometimes people that were attractive in their youth aren't with age. "Youth will camouflage ugly to a certain point." <- My Nana's words.Lol Youth is something a lot of people take for granted. It's like +50 attractive points.
I mean seriously... It goes both ways. imho.( Some people want to call it fact that everyone will eventually become unattractive though. I think that's because they plan to let themselves go. )

dont worry hatamoto, i have a feeling you'll always be ok in that department. sparkle motion.
In addition..I have known some physically attractive people who are pretty UGLY in other ways. Attitude, lack of personality...lacking in intelligence and charisma. Of course I want to lose weight, get back into shape, not only for myself, but so my husband will be unable to keep his hands to himself. (A benefit for me as well...(*wink*) We married not that long ago, we are both in our early 40's and I hope we grow old together still digging on each other.
Yeah, I've heard that many many times, the struggle for equality. That is the general idea, and most people will agree with it because it sounds good in nature, but what does it mean in the end when you consider the legislation and ideology it promotes to achieve this end. Always read before you sign the contract. Christianity promotes peace, prosperity, and equality, brother!
But I can now see why a man would be quick to call himself a Feminist because if he isn't, he runs the risk of being labeled a misogynist or just plain stupid because he doesn't understand or know the issues.
Feminism is an emotionally-charged ardent movement that is biased and at times no more objective than Christianity. It, like Anti-Feminism are both extremes and will manipulate data and feed propaganda to serve their cause. Both sides should be heard, but rash devotion to one of these entities is insanity.
Feminism on my college campus operated more like a cult than some good organization that was there to promote equality for women.
Have I personally seen Feminists use false statistics? Yes.
Have I seen young Feminist women live in absolute fear of being sexually assaulted or raped at any moment? Yes.
Have I witnessed Misandry from Feminists? Yes.
Am I truly convinced that unequal pay is a result of gender discrimination and thus the world needs law to ensure the said discrimination does not occur? No.
Despite what the spokeswoman says about her good and ethical company, I highly doubt its integrity and would never do business with it or call myself a member of it.
I remain neutral. I will never ever in this life become a Feminist or say that I am one.

There is some truth in the point CalorieCat was making. A lot of people invest so much time in each other it's in their best interest to remain. Due to a lot of factors that keep them together. They would rather endure the bad for the sake of the good. Even if they're unhappy in some aspects they have their dream ' home ' or ' appearance from the outset. ' Some people would rather live in partial happiness than forsake an investments. It takes a lot for someone to humble themselves and say " This wasn't meant to be..."
People always have something insightful to share though. Regardless of how long they've been married. In some cases someone that hasn't has more depth due to ' watching ' others. I mean we all gather information in different ways. Just because couple A) was married twenty years doesn't make them any happier than couple B) that were only married two years. Couple A) may've had more to lose than couple B).
The bad experiance people have/had in their marriage has a lot more to say about the individuals, than society as a whole. The incentive for a couple to get married shouldn't be in relation to others. It should be based on their own life, love, and circumstances in life. Different circumstances call for different measures. But... Even if it only works out in that fairy tale true love kinda way for 5% of couples that means there is a chance! Have faith. Even if in nothing more than your circumstances since you created/control them. We can't control our potential spouses, but if you lack faith in them... That's a red flag!
The clip is obviously not ' the truth ' for everyone. It's only the man's broadcasted not so humble opinion on the matter for everyone. It may've been the truth in concern to his experiance within his marriage/relationships. The problem is that he goes beyond that to include everyone to share his fate. Be accountable! What did he contribute to the failure?! Nothing? Hardly. Everyone contributes in some way regardless of whether we admit it. That isn't to say everyone is the ' cause ' one hundred percent. But... Seriously... As adults we make choices that in turn have consquences. We setup our life and pick which map to use. Some people ask for advice when they become lost. Blame is overrated. Our life is our own making! Even if we only want to claim 5% of the fault. LOL! yet 98% of the congratulations.
Sure, but there's also truth in saying that in the end we're all going to end up as free-floating plasma after the sun expends its hydrogen fuel and expands to engulf the earth in nuclear fire, before all our component particles spiral helplessly into the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy to await the heat death of our universe.
I mean, jeez... noone gets out alive, but there's got to be at least an INKLING of hope for some happiness, even if it is transitory. I gotta think that life is more than a never ending series of emo song lyrics played out in a continuous strip of inexorable downward spirals before we all fade to black.
Heh... sparkle motion. I now await the coming of the evil giant rabbit.

Life IS transitory...haven't you heard that saying "The only constant is change?" That change we all go through....need actually, is what can either make or break a marriage or relationship. If one partner, goes through a time of self-discovery and growth...and the other is completely stuck on one place and refuses to either accept the other person changing or growing...resents it even....that is the catalyst for breakup or divorce.
Yeah. Love is sometimes a silly fairy tale that life cannot make come true.
I am excited by a relationship where both people are interdependant, and love each other enough to allow growth and change and discovery.
(See, this is what happens when I DON'T drink....)
I can tell you watch a lot of Lifetime, Monarch! hehe...
Nope. I prefer the Discovery Channel. And PBS. NPR too. Shaddup fortius.

You think you're the first person to apply accusations of "emotion-based" and "insanity" when women challenge the status quo? You should apply for a trademark on that cure for insomnia before Pfizer beats you to it. Also rethink your whole "I'm neutral" schtick, because this really doesn't make it convincing.
So some college campus feminists were cultlike. BFD. Show me one college based activist group, feminist or not, where people aren't extreme in their brand of idealism and think they and they alone will change the world.
Has it occured to you that some women may live in fear of being raped because they either have been in the past, know someone who has been, or simply are aware that it's a realistic possiblity? Are you aware that a lot of young women are raised to regard this possibility, with a lot of scare tactic and a little information?("Don't go here" "Don't say that" "Don't wear this" etc.)
So you witnessed misandry from some feminists. I've witnessed it, as I said before, from more traditional women, often when they are disappointed by individual men. The only two posters on this thread who have addressed and spoken out against misandry, myself and monarch77, are both women. Like your example of the college students, this proves nothing about the philosophies of feminism.
Despite your snide analogy of feminism as a "company", which I imagine you find very clever, the truth is that it is an ideology comprised of human beings, who are infallible. So you met some college students who thought they had all the answers, some women possibly coping with PTSD, and and some misandrists who had some introspection of their own to do, who all happened to share an interest in feminism. This is enough to disprove it's core tenets for everyone everywhere? Should we fly to Afghanistan and dismantle RAWA because some college kids here acted like a cult?
And caloricat, just curious, what do all those porn stars do on the other 3 days of the week?

i dont know why i said sparkle motion??? so many things could be taken from that, glad you didn't get it the wrong way. anywayz some people are glass half full, others are glass half empty, others like me go back & forth about it. as long as we have our health, or relatively good health, sure life will throw a few curves but it keeps it exciting doesn't it?
as for porn stars, the cali ones usually would eat the low gi carbs, bloating on camera just doesn't look good.
i was referencing a need to produce more uh...
nevermind.
(i would think that loading up on high fiber carbs would increase flatulence, so not a positive)
maybe caloricat will come back and tell us about the other 3 days in the week
OMG!!! How obvious can Ol' Fortius make it! Clearly he's trying to cover up what a huge feminist he is! So cute.

ok, caloriecat is a guy
and i thought when he said he wished he could live like a pr0n star 4 days a week, he meant that he could live like a male pr0n star - i doubt that male pr0n stars and bleaching that area (but i don't know for certain and don't care to research it)
Heh, there's only so many penetrative options when it comes to gay porn.
Don't think about it too hard. You may go blind. ![]()
