I invite ONLY MEN to join me in losing 30 pounds by April 1st, 2008...Join the April Fool's Club for Men Only. I will post ideas, books, web sites...info on how to get back to a healthier body and lifestyle all along the way, mostly, we will support each other in our journey...All MEN WELCOME.

FYI: The AFC challenge has started (towards the 30 pounds off). And the AFC (April Fools Club) challenge is on the honor system. It is your responsibility to accurately and correctly track your weight each day, week. You're not cheating any of us, so, if you're cheating yourself what the heck is the point to all of this, right? The weekly and monthy challenges will begin on January 1st. The cut off to join is January 1st.

Our first AFC challenge: Since CC has a button for showing the actitivties and calories that are burned...and hopefully we are all taking advantage of this tracking system...Starting Wednesday Jan 3rd, 2008 and ending Wednesday January 10th....I invite you to burn an EXTRA 1,000 calories a day, beyond what you burn through your daily activities. You can post your results on Thursday January 11th, 2008.

I AM interested in who burns the most extra calories during this 7 day challenge, but I am more interested in how many members of AFC CAN and WILL burn on average, a 1,000 more calories a day for this period. Good luck.

Note: Plan your workout schedule now to prepare for this challenge. Be sure to include stretching in your program.

Welcome everyone. I'm totally impressed that you want to do this...I'm convinced this is the best way to get back to a healthier body and lifestyle...SUPPORT is it...WELCOME. I reccommend getting and using a scale that shows fat %, water % as well as current weight. FAT LOSE is what we're after in this group. Just b/c your losing weight doesn't mean you are losing fat. So be very very aware of this.

Disclaimer:  I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV either, so when I give advise and or information on the AFC string KNOW to take what I say with a grain of salt as they say...check it out for yourself, do your own research...don't go blindly into that good night. I give advise b/c it has worked for me or read that it is a good idea, it may not work for you and then again, it might.

I like that too.  I'm going to put Offical AFC Member at the bottom of my posts and a link.  That should get us some more play.

Welcome Everbody!!

You're the man Duke-ster.
I've already lost my weight but I would like to be here as a resource and for motivation if you guys will have me? ;-)

hey guys,

I think weigh ins should just be on the honor system.  Some of us mega heavies don't have scales at home, and some folk preffer to weigh once a day, once a week, etc.

So I say let's just report in when we weigh in.  Good or bad!!  And the only limit on size of the group.  I think guys should be signed in by the 1st.  And we can do a complete update once a month maybe.  And I think anyone should be able to post as long as they are reasonably nice!!

This is a guys group!  CoolCool let's relax and pop a cold one.

BTW!!!  GO COLTS!!!  We hate the Evil Empire!!  (AKA The Pats!!!)

My prediction!!  Pats finish 17-1.  Colts finish 17-2.  But with the Super Bowl Ring!!

Hi Gentlemen!
As PinkSalmon said, we were in another group together, but it seems as though it is kind of tapering off....so he invited and convinced me to join the men.  I never thought I would be sharing my age and weight with a group of men, but I am 31 years old and weigh 225 pounds currently.  40 pounds by 04-01-07 sounds like a lot to me, but I am willing to work hard toward this challenge.  I did the math and April 1st is 16 weeks from today, so that is 2.5 pounds a week.  Like I said, I will try even harder than I have been trying up to this point.
Thanks for bending the rules - I will keep the estrogen to a minimum!
I'm in; competition is always a man's best motivator, I'm starting at 338 and I'm 37 years old. I would mention my height but that's the only constant in this equation.
Uh-Oh!  We seem to have a Patriots fan (if I read EZ-Wider's shirt in the photo right) and an obvious Colts fan in Duke!  LOL!

A question - how do you build up to being able to do "real" pushups and "real" situps?

The start date for the AFC challenge (towards the 30 pounds off) is NOW...whatever now means to you, it depends when you start on this string I suppose. And the AFC (April Fools Club) challenge. The weekly and monthy challenges will begin on January 1st however. That brings us to time frame...we have 110 days b/4 April fools day. 40 pounds is too much to lose in that time frame according to health professionals. However, it is safe to lose 1-2 pounds per week. So, I'm lowering the goal by 10 pounds. Now the challenge is a safer 30 pounds.

I am in at 5'11" and 220 pounds - age 47.

#4 rokamortis     290#

#5 ez-wider     338#  (An Evil Empire Fan!!  Well, we all have our moral weaknesses)

#6 strikez     220

Yeah 30 pounds between now and Apr. 1st!!  And if you have a loss, or a gain, report in.  No real rules here.  Just someplace to vent and find support.

Jan. 1st is the cut off date for losing the full 30 pounds.  But all men are welcome at any point.  But, of course since we are gentlemen, all female visitors are very welcome!!

Proud Member of the 1st Annual AFC Challenge!!! CoolCoolCool

Not a joiner, but offering all my support and well wishes in your efforts, folks :)
NP Kathy.  But feel free to drop by anytime!! CoolCool  Thanks for the support!!
