Do men really prefer curvier girls?
Men always claim to like women with a bit of meat on them so how come in reality they all seem to drool over skinny/slim girls and ignore at best or even make derrogatory comments about slightly chunkier girls? When I was a size 6 - 8 (UK) I was beating men off with a stick.....now I'm a 12 - 14 which to me is HUGE on my 5ft1 frame I have pretty much become a nobody
I think that's a valid question, but... I think you need to answer some questions yourselves. What type of personality do you have? Do you smile a lot? Laugh a lot? Are you friendly to people or shy? How do you FEEL about yourself, deep down inside?
There will always be shallow boys. Boys looking for tiny waist and big boobs.
The kind of man you can settle down with.. the kind of man who will be able to stay with you as you get old, grey and your boobs migrate to your bellybutton.. they tend to prefer a more "real" woman.
I think alot of it is about age, but also maturity. There are 40 year old boys still looking for tiny waists and big boobs. There's probably 16 year old men looking for.. a real honest-to-god woman.
Alot of it is your personality too. Sexiness is HALF personality. You need to KNOW you're sexy, to exude that knowledge. Those girls that thing they're ugly.. they don't shine to us as much as someone who's fun, vicacious, full of LIFE.
Long answer to a difficult question.
I used to be really thin and then I started slowly gaining weight, and I got more attention from guys when I was a little heavier than when I was stick thin.
I've always been described as having a bubbly personality....up for a laugh, good sense of humour, often been nicknamed 'smiler', but I've never had any self confidence. Always thought of myself as ugly. Even thought I was fat when I was 96lb. I had just the same personality but low self esteem when I was really slim as I have now....the only thing which has changed is my figure and yet guys treat me completely differently now.
yeah I think they mean slim girls (not stick thin) with curves, like natural curves of your body like this http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04_02/A lbaDM2604_468x597.jpg
obviously some guys do actually prefer slightly larger women but I think a lot of guys who say they like curves actually mean like in the picture I posted.

I wouldn't say she is curvey. If she were standing strait up from her arm pit to her knees would be almost a strait line. Curvey would be Jennifer Lopez, small waist, hips bump out, butt perks out there, and has a nice size chest.
I agree about the personality coming out in a person. I used to weigh about 360 and I am married to a 150 lb. man who likes big girls. I was about 260 when we got married 11 years ago. If you are not happy with yourself, it shows. I was generally happy with myself, I was heavy all my life, so I was used to it. Sure I would have liked to lose a few lbs. but it wasn't the end of the world if I didn't because he loves me no matter what. By the way, I made a lifestyle change 2 years ago and now weigh 189 lbs. My husband thinks I am H O T! I have curves too! Except for the boob part they have shrunk :( We keep saying I should have what's hanging on my belly moved north to my chest! LOL
Before she (Jessica Alba) was famous she was a lot curvier and seemed muscular too. My husband found her much more attractive then. (Dark Angel days)
Anyhow, it also is how you carry yourself and what you wear. I'm still really overweight but wearing clothing that shows me off. I'm sucking in my gut and standing tall and I'm getting ogled again. When I was skinny, I had no bust to speak of but had no trouble attracting men.
I went through a phase of fatness several years ago where I never did my hair, no makeup and shabby clothes and was invisible. Totally invisible.
Good post HK,
Linz, perhaps you were more confident in yourself when you were thinner, perhaps you were smiling more, felt sexier, appeared more approachable.
Of course HK is right, there will always be boys looking for a stick model, but men want someone to be comfortable with, someone to enjoy time with.
Was the opposite with me, at a thin UK size 8 with no bum, no bust etc I was very introverted and attracted zero male attention, at a 26 UK size 12-14 I’m settled but do enjoy the guys flirting with me!! :o)
Asking if men prefer curvey or skinny women is like asking if men prefer mustard or ketchup on their hotdogs. It's entirely up to the individual.
To be honest I don't think I'd want a guy to find me attractive looking as I do now. If I was a guy I wouldn't find me attractive at all. I can't wait to lose all the blubber and atleast be semi-attractive again! If only I could look like that Jessica Alba pic!
I'll sleep with any woman, so long as she's willing.

There's an honest man!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHA.....Jesus..man...HAHAHAHAHA...
oh and for the record...Jessica Alba...YUCK!!!!!
Jessica Biel...WHoa MOMMA!!!!!!!
It's all very subjective, but yeah, J Lo is sexier than Kate Moss in my opinion.
But it really depends on the girl and how she carries the weight. Queen Latifah is a very sexy big girl, and Evangeline Lilly on "Lost" is a sexy skinny girl.
Some girls look nice and curvy with extra weight - other girls get a "boxy" look, with a big boxy butt and boxy back fat - not sexy. I think each person has to find the weight where they look healthiest and most flattering to their individual frame.
But in general, really skinny is less attractive than curvy, even with a bit of extra padding.
I read this study once that said it's not the BMI or weight that makes a woman sexy, it's the hip to waist ratio. Tiny waist, curvy hips is sexiest. Think Marilyn Monroe.
I agree, when I was at my skinniest (at least beyond high school) at 112 lbs, I was ogled by men all the time - I frequently had men making comments, catcalls, whistling, etc. It had little to do with confidence because I wasn't even talking to these men - they were total strangers. However when I started gaining weight, that all stopped. And I actually thought I looked better (curvier) with a little more weight, but oh well. I concluded that for some reason, most of the guys who are apt to make crude comments want skinny chicks. Normal guys, who keep their thoughts to themselves, are all over the map on what they want. ![]()

I totally agree. When I was skinniest (~105-110), I had guys constantly try to get me to pull over on the freeway, catcalling/whistling, and yelling some pretty obscene and stupid things at me. NOT the kind of guy you want to attract. I still tend to dress down unless I'm out with my tall and muscular bf because the attention is horrible by those types of guys.
