Hey Dan, you're right this site is awesome for everyone. Here's me:

I didn't actually start using this site till the end of May, I was at 245 or something at that point. I was losing like crazy from June till Aug kinda took a break for the last few months so I have to get back on the bandwagon. The good thing is thanks to this site I know what I should be eating so even during my break I gained maybe a pound.
All I've done is eat up to whatever they tell me I'm allowed and do 30 min of stationary biking 3-4 days a week.
I have been very happy with this site as well. I am eating the suggested calories and doing the C25K plan and the Hundred Push Ups plan.
Seems to be working so far. I just hope I can stick to it throughout the winter.
We are out here Dan. In fact over the past year I bet I have recommended this site to at leat 10 of my buddies. I just passed my 1 year mark on CC.com. During this past summer I got down to 190 for about 3 days and have since leveled out in the 193-194 range weekly. I have found that I return to CC when I feel my self gaining weight "Mentally" if that makes any sense. So, I just got back on the site regularly about 1 week ago because I can tell mentally that I am wanting to go back to some unhealthy eating levels. Good luck,

I've used this site in the past. Mainly it's a great tool for tracking cals, and exercise.

I joined in September when I really got serious about losing the weight. I had been running & hitting the gym off & on, but hadn't looked at my diet at all. I basically started watching my food when the Dr. told me I had to stop running b/c of plantar fasciitis.
Since then I have stayed right around 275, but have been losing inches & gaining muscle like crazy. Basically my weight has stayed the same but really focusing on weight lifting & some cardio has made a huge difference in my appearance, if not the # on the scale. Any guys have that same experience?
ive been here a few months :)
H: 5'11

CW: 222
GW: 160-180 not really sure what to aim for
ive been doing alot of running over the past few months except for last 3 weeks where i got ill because of the cold but i lowered my calories to compensate which has seemed to do the trick :)

I experienced the same thing when I got down in the 195 range. The scale wouldn't budge, but I lost 3 more inches off my waist. In my journey, I now focus on my waist size and BFI number instead of the scale and the BMI number
Hay guys,
Mind if I join?

I know, i'm a lil dude! I hope to get back into cross country shape and distance running. Even though I am not "overweight" 140 is not my ideal for middle distance running performance. I realize it is all physics and strength to weight so as I continue I will also need to watch body fat as well.
6'2, 235# when I started paying attention to my diet. 228 now. 18 lbs to go. I've been lifting weights for years but I've recently discovered sports nutrition. I think I've studied it enough to have my PhD. Trying to lose 25 lbs of pure fat and keep the muscle I've worked so hard for. Finding out quickly that my diet was 90% of the issue and my training was only about 10. Trying to stick to 45% protein, 35-40% fat, and 15-20% carbs.
Great. I am not alone!! I am focusing on getting my weight down and also upping my exercise. I have been pretty sedentary for the last 2 years, so I want to go slow and not burn myself out.
I haven't really noticed any change in my body, but it has only been around 10 pounds out of almost 300, so not a huge difference.
Hey, I'm Dave. I'm 22.

Hey younts. Fancy meeting you here.
6'2, 193 ish, 34 y.o.
SW 240 ish. Started losing Jan 07, unhealthily. Started healthy loss/fitness/diet Dec 07. Started CC April 08.
I've been hanging out in the mid 190's FOREVER now, saw a couple brief flashes with upper 180's but it never stuck.
Can't seem to lose these last 6-7 pounds that would put me at a calculated 13-15% BF, but I've been lifting pretty well and slowly losing inches, and (I think) gaining definition, so I'm anxiously optimistic about my 1 year anniversary bf measurement. I know what I need to do to get there, just be more strict and careful dietwise, just can't seem to get dietarily motivated long enough to make it happen.
Sup Guys!

I have done very little excercise thus far. All I have done is go to CalorieCount about 7 times a day and log every last thing. Dan I read your post last night and I am starting the 100 push up challenge monday with 3 of my co-workers. That challenge is crazy.... when i was 345 I did 30 push ups in a row and even one clap push up. I have lost some muscle and now I can only do 11. So I better get my muscles back up!

I used the Subway diet :) lots of 6 inch subs, no cheese or sauce, all the low fat ones, mixed it up. Also did 10 miles on mountin bike 5-6 days every week all summer. Winter i just maintain, dont lose , dont gain. I have mixed my diet up since i started.. i dropped about 40lbs the first summer. Since the first summer i have only dropped about 5-8 pounds... seem to be stuck, but pretty happy with current weight, and my eatting habits are 100% better.. and best of all NO MORE heartburn, had it for years.. and now I have none.
Anybody with any ideas on how to jump start the loseing again, point um out.. I have stuck with my 1600-1800 calories and its not working anymore, my body is now to used to it i think.
try zig-zagging your diet!!
I'm here too! I lost a bunch on my own a while ago but put almost half of it back on. THis site has helped me a lot in reversing that trend. I also recommend the Hacker's Diet, which is an online book.
I suggested a while ago that we have a sub-forum for guys, but nobody seconded the request.

So what's the best way to determine a healthy weight. Using BMI, my healthy weight is around 150 - 170. I haven't weighed in that range since college, and I was a pretty skinny guy then. That seems way low. To save you searching above, I am 48 yrs old, and 5' 10". My goal weight is 185, but according to BMI calculations that only gets me to a "slightly overweight" category.
How is everyone else figuring their healthy weight goal?

I an exercising 5 days a week alternating strength (M-W-F) with cardio (T-Th). on weekends I am active but don't do a formal workout. Yard work, camping (this weekend), home repair. I don't just sit around in other words. I notice some of the weight loss results are more rapid than what I am seeing for myself. I am maintaining a 1000 cal deficit on average, but the lbs seem to be coming off slowly (9lbs over 7 weeks). What's anyone else doing?

Cool, we're 'bout the same. There are a couple men's groups in the "groups" (duh) section. I'm a member on 2, but they're not particularly active.
irmo - the BMI tool puts me at the very upper end of healthy - about one reese's peanut butter cup away from slightly overweight. The low end of my healthy range is 170.
By combining the range of healthy bmi (170 to 195) and knowing body fat %, I came up with a hopefully doable healthy weight of about 190 +/_. I "know" (based on bf measurements) my lean mass is between 165-170, so to be at the low end of the "healthy" range is not necessarily healthy.
I'll share a bit of info to keep the thread going! :) Here are some stats:
Height: 5'8''
SW- 297 (May '08) (I've been as high as 311, probably more)
CW- 200 (on the dot at the moment)
GW- Not sure; my original goal was to simply get under 200 which was really just a sort of arbitrary psychological number to get under, and I am about to hit that number literally any minute now, so I'm now looking to get the BMI out of the "overweight" category, so somewhere around 160 is what I'm looking at. Don't know how doable that will be, but I didn't think 200 was doable!
I just found this site, so I can't say I've used any of the tools here for my weight loss, yet anyway. But my basic method of weight loss (simply consuming less calories than I burn of course) seem to be along the lines of what the site seems to help folks look at.
It was tempting to fudge the numbers above a bit to make it seem more impressive, like starting at 301 and being at 199 or something! But I'll stay honest!
This is the first time I've really broken down and really done a real diet with substantial weight loss (past half-baked attempts have resulted in losing 10-15 or so; at one point last year I got down to about 275, and that's as far as my "eating a bit less garbage food" diet got me then!).
I could share a million interesting (and not so interesting perhaps!) thoughts and stories about the last six months of weight loss, but I'll keep my first post short for the moment.
