My husband and I are both on a diet. We are counting our calories. We have been doing this for about a month and a half. Problem?? My husband has now lost a total of 32 pounds and I have only lost about 10 pounds. He eats more than I do, is allowed more calories than me, and he STILL has lost so much more than me. I'm so proud of him. I really am and we encourage each other everyday, but it is still so frustrating that I can't lose as fast as he is. I tell him everyday how proud I am of him. But, I wish I could do better in losing the weight. I know, the slower you lose it, the better, but it still doesn't help. Anyone else experiencing the same thing????

If he's lost 32 in about 6 weeks, a bunch has to be water weight.  That's a 2,670 calorie deficit per day if not, and that's just ridiculous.

Yeah it's unfair isn't it, but keep on trucking it's coming off slow but once your where you want to be it's pretty easy to maintain as long as your persistent with it, then it just becomes natural.  And i agree some of that has to be water weight or something, then again, men just lose easier in general because of more muscle i guess.  My bf is skinny with the smallest tummy, he eats anything he wants, while I'm eating my fat free home made onion soup lol.  Oh well as long as i feel healthy and feel good.

Totally unfair!  My husband 'watches what he eats' for a few weeks and is down 15lbs. I have been busting my butt to lose 20 and its taken 3 months!  So not fair!

On Friday we had a big cheat -Chinese and champagne..  I was 2lbs more Saturday morning and he LOST weight!  LOL.

Men........ sigh.

It's never a good idea to compare yourself with someone else when it comes to weight-loss.   It depends how much you had to lose,  how heavy you are now, what % of your total body-weight needs to go, how active you are.... so many variables that you can't afford to feel like it's a competition.  32lbs in 6 weeks does sound rather rapid but, if someone's very heavy, they can lose a lot in the first couple of weeks.  If he's still losing more than 2lbs a week he should maybe check he's eating enough.

Keep smiling.

yep, men have that easier (well most do), along with a couple of other bodily things. i'd maybe kick him & punch him around the place, it'll make you feel better & burn some calories.

Have you ever seen that comercial where the man and woman cartoon are trying to lose weight.  The guy turns into a stick and the woman is still pretty big... anyways, it's funny because it's true.

My husband can lose weight so easily... 8 pounds in the first frigging week and he eats 400 more calories than me everyday!  Like give me a break!

From the look of your picture it doesn't look like you have as much weight to lose.  If you lost 32 pounds I don't think it would even be healthy!  It could be that he just has more to lose.

Be proud of your 10 pounds though!  That's huge!  Look at a 10 pound bag of rice or the 1 tub of butter in the fridge... it really puts into perspective how much you lost.

Congrats!

10 pounds in a month and a half is still really fast

It DOES stink that he can eat more, lose faster, etc., but... on the whole, it's probably not fair to yourself to compare your loss to his. 10 pounds in a month is pretty phenomenal. Even on your first month, where some of what you'll lose is just water.

PS... the main reason why men lose weight so much faster is because we naturally have more muscle, which is one really good reason to make sure to do weight training as well. The more muscle you have, the higher your BMR/AMR, and the easier it will be for YOU to maintain or lose weight.

ok, so kicking & punching wouldn't be the best form to burn calories. you could practice picking him up??? altho the more he loses weight the less you'll be able to progress.

This is the commercial I refered to in my last message.  I think it's funny and SOOO true!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66oZY3NcxLA

I've never tried the product and I doubt it works though, I just love the commercials.

You are doing great, Keep up the good work!!

My husband and I have been losing weight at about the same rate - the disgusting thing is that I would swear he's not trying.  He has all the same bad habits he always had, skips our workouts together more than half the time and eat 3 times as much as me.  I'm so jealous.  But I have had to get over lots of jealousies in this journey of mine . . .

I just LOVE that comerial. It is sooooooo True too. My husband eats more than I do and is losing. I don't eat as much as he does and I'm not losing. For those who jumped my case about him losing 32 pounds in 6 weeks, it was actually more than 6 weeks that he lost the weight. He just didn't tell me when he started. But I do Love that commercial on TV and everytime we see it, I will say, Yep That is Sooooooo True and my husband just laughs. I really am proud of him. I really never thought he would stick with us trying to lose. We have done it before and it would last maybe a week. lol He is determined this time. We are just counting our calories and watching what we eat. Ever so often, he will joke and say, if I eat anymore salads, I'm going to turn into a rabbit. lol
