How could this be.... i've never been to Miami, let alone Florida..... but i always imagine palm trees and the extremely beautiful.....with perfectly tanned skin....

the home of Harashio Kane (CSI MIAMI) is the fattest?????

Maybe they meant Phattest.

you may be right.... great my fantasy of beauty on beaches is restored!

What! Wow I'm really surprised.

P.S. You were close. It's Horatio :D

lol.  i live in miami.  there are a lot of beautfiul people, but there are a loooooottt of fat people too.   the majority of people are not perfect looking but still wear tiny bikinis and whatnot.   there are tons of jiggly people strutting their stuff on the beaches--and nobody cares.  i dont know if miami is the fattest city, but usually when you see miami on tv, yout see one section:  south beach.    south beach is beautiful, but its not the real miami.   in miami there are many poor people, fat people, homeless people, etc.

also, nobody walks anywhere.   miami is a very very driving kind of place.

and dont even get me started on the pasty white canadians and their speedos....

lol

There isnt an OZ in Kansas...LoL

ppl in australia call Australia ,OZ and thats where it came from im pretty sure

BTW jessicabc is right....same with the hamptons......the majority of them are not rich and beautiful and there is no one there in the winter it is ghost town where i live, Montauk, which is in the village of east hampton, all the stores close down, and in the summer it sux cuz u cant park anywhere cuz all the tourists and u cant walk or ull get hit by an angry rich Tourist wearing tropical shirts!! haha.....so yea things on TV are WAYYY different than real life

Hey,

I'm in Southampton. It's cool hearing that someone is relatively nearby!

"Oz" from The Wizard of Oz (Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore).  That's where it came from.

You'll notice that Miami's cuisine staples aren't exactly the healthiest, and despite the assumption that their lifestyles would be pretty wild and active, given the weather and gym abundance and the beaches everywhere, it's actually more carefree and a lot of people go to Miami to retire, so they're pretty lazy.

I wouldn't really know, though, since I don't live in the states and only have a few trips there and my Miami-based cousins' word to go by.

Buuut, there's actually something else that surprises me more than Miami = fat does: did you know that Texas is the most vegan-friendly state there is?

Woah.

This is silly.  They call it the fattest city because of things like poor air quality and lots of fast food restaurants per capita, not because the people there are actually fatter.

Miami has a long way to go to top Huntington, West Virginia.

I guess all those lists are different.  The ones I see usually name Houston as the fattest, with 3 or 4 other Texas cities in the top 10 as well.  I live in Philly, which is usually number 4 or so.

Often, it seems to be linked to a lack of pedestrian activity (no walking trails, no public transport, etc), lack of parks and areas to increase exercise, and a really unhealthy regional diet.  In Philly it's cheese steaks and pretzels.  I think it's interesting how much city planning can help reduce obesity.  Right now I'm in London, and I rarely see large people--mostly American tourists, to be honest--and I think part of the reason why is all the walking!  Most people take public transportation, so you walk to and from the tube or bus, then walk to and from your destination.  I walk about 3 miles a day just getting around.

I always wonder why weather has little connection, but Minneapolis/St. Paul is always way up there on the healthiest lists, despite being so f'ing cold you could die and obviously Texas has enough good weather, Miami too, to get out and jog once in a while.

I wish more cities would do little things--i.e. bike trails and parks--to make their residents healthier.

yea it is! haha cool....but i hate how this new show makes us look all snotty! HAHA! They think were all rich....lol

BTW it actually is cool even though your still 45 minutes away.....haha i have to take an hour bus ride every morning cuz i go to school in riverhead
