Merry Christmas! So what do you think about this argument?!
YES! I said, Merry Christmas!"
Rant: It's not Happy Holiday's. It's Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
OMG!! I don't necessarily like all the Presidents, so I should protest on Presidents Day to mean Happy People Day? Or happy mans day! How STUPID!
Yes we have a Lincoln day, Washington day, Martin Luther King day and even Ground Hogs Day! Nobody says anything about these day's that we celebrate! These people were all great men except the ground hog. (Maybe it was a male too)! Jesus was a man and a great one at that toooo!
Why all the political issues! I want a button that says, "It's ok to wish me a Merry Christmas!
For me...It is Always a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
HUGGS!
Ok, so YOU celebrate Christmas.
But there are millions of people out there that are celebrating other religious holidays around this same time of year.
Yule, Chanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.
My father and I had this discussion on Thanksgiving actually, he was very happy to see that some electronics store he had just been in offered no generic "Happy Holidays" gift cards, but an individual one for each holiday.

That's a whole 'nother rant. They took away Lincolns' Birthday and Washington's Birthday and gave us "President's Day". Yuck.
I don't much care what the store clerks say to me. Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays. Have a nice day. Whatever. They'll say whatever they're paid to say.
As for the rest of us, it would seem common sense for the greeter to say whatever day he or she observes. A Jew could say to everyone, instead of trying to guess their religion: "Happy Hanukkah" and I would reply "Happy Hanukkah to you too!"
And and atheist, agnostic or whatever could say "Happy Holidays!" to all he or she encounters and we would reply: "Happy Holidays to you too!"
I'm a "Merry Christmas" person myself, but if someone wants to extend a friendly greeting, I don't want to get worked up over how they express themselves. Anger and frustration is not in the Christmas spirit.
Hi kindoflikesarah,
This is exactly my issue! People celebrate all kinds of days. But why do they single out the word Christmas?
Happy Chanukkah and Kwanzaa!
But how exactly do you see the word Christmas as being singled out? The words "Chanukkah", "Kwanzaa", "Yule", etc. are singled out too. I think the phrase "Happy Holidays" is used so that no one will somehow get offended. I can see how that is a good thing. :)
But at least I have enough decency to watch my tongue.
Hello!
I understand your point and I agree but why should we be afraid to show our faith? Why should we feel like we need to be politically correct? I feel in general that society has become too politically correct and they are missing out on historical facts and events. Christmas, Kwanzaa and Hanukkah is part of all history and events. I think eventually society will lose the value of these days if we have to be so afraid and generalize.
There's no need to be afraid to show our faith, just don't go out of your way to offend other faiths.
Hello cellulitedelight,
Do you celebrate Christmas? I mean with gifts, family and food? If you don't you may be the only few. Why then would the word Christmas be so offensive to you if you do celebrate the event?
And I'm not one of the only few who don't celebrate. If you're so ignorant as to think that, maybe you need to get your nose out of the bible and open a newspaper.
I suppose 2000 years from now George W. Bush will be fictional character! What about Santa Clause?
Happy Santa Clause Day!
when i'm in a store and they say merry christmas with their santa hats on, i become offended that they are close-minded enough to assume that those shirts i'm buying are a christmas gift, even if i'm buying it the day before hannukah.
it's all about being respectful and educated about other cultures.
and as far as too politically correct goes- i hear people call mundane things like traffic lights and books "gay" and "retarded" almost daily. so i have to disagree on that point, but that's a whole other discussion not meant for now.
I celebrate the SEASON. The season as in winter. I give out my gifts for people on December 22nd, not 24th or 25th because I don't celebrate those two as holidays. I celebrate December 22nd, and if you look back to my threads where I mention "Christmas presents," it's simply to make life easier on those who don't understand the concept of celebrating December 22nd.
And you know what? 2000 years from now people won't be able to handle the truth that Bush is in fact a real person. Let them all live in peace and believe he was a fantasy.
It certainly doesn't offend me to be told Happy Hanukka, or Kwanza or whatever else you may say. I will just say it back.
Hi jeepgirl1985,
I agree with you! It doesn't offend me either!I would say the same thing.
