Messed up work schedule!

Quote  |  Reply

Normally my work schedule is midnight-8am in the morning, so i sleep through most the day, wake up at 4pm... then on my days off my sleep schedule changes, and I sleep during midnight-8am

will this screw up my metabolism and such?

also I normally eat fruits and veggies throughout the day , and have my "meal" during work hours

Night-shifts put the body under various stresses but if you aim to eat regularly, be active and choose good foods then you should be able to mitigate some of them.   I would have thought that reverting to a 'day' schedule at the weekends is the thing likely to cause the most stress... is there no way you can keep to similar hours?

It's a really bad idea to switch back to a day schedule on your days off.  You're going to mess up your body's sleep rhythm doing that, which can lead to sleep disorders and insomnia.  Be careful with that.  I learned it the hard way.  Now I can only get to sleep with the use of medication, even while I keep the same schedule every day.  Sometimes the medication doesn't even work.  You don't want to get in that boat, believe me.

i know exactly how you feel. i work 6p-6a....and on my days off i revert back to day schedule. i don't sleep a lot but when i do sleep its not good sleep...i sleep a few hours wake up etc,......its a vicious cycle... i have felt terrible...sleepy all the time...

lately i've been drinking a LOT of water, and eating more fruits/veggies which i think has helped.........

but nights are terrible on our bodies!  i'm anxious to know as well if this yo yo sleep schedule slows my metabolism to a crawl?
